Pretty much the whole market that's left. Contra Costa, Solano, Marin, Napa, Sonoma and Lake Counties will continue to full completion without much problem. San Francisco, Alameda and San Mateo counties will grind along all the way to the end. And some cities, specifically like Berkeley, are going to be especially hard.

They will continue, don't get me wrong. Probably a few sites per week. But Samsung will not be able to fly through it like they have the outlier counties.

I vaguely remember Steve jobs saying something about how while it takes 3 weeks to get permits for cell towers in texas, it takes 3 years to get permits for cell towers in San Francisco.

Of course it's easier for sprint since they're just upgrading stuffs instead of building new towers but it's the same lesson: San Francisco is difficult when it comes to things cell tower related.

  2. It's usually a sign of work in progress. Things should settle down in a few days. Then a week or so later, you might see LTE. However, with towers spaced as close as two blocks apart, you might be seeing a lot of flakyness. The site is predicting LTE launch for SF in February. While that might be optimistic, there's still much work left to be done. Where exactly in SF are you having problems?

I hope it's a sign of work in progress, but I don't think so considering that I get this problem in a large part of the city such as the Golden Gate park, Chinatown, the portola district, and the sunset district. My routes around these areas vary so I cover a good portion of the city in a week easily. Recently however, I've been able to get back onto EVDO quicker so that it isn't as annoying as before where when I dropped to 1x nothing would work for a few minutes. I'm still confused at what is happening though...

Hopefully it will happen for real in the near future, I'm still holding out hope that those RCA members work with Sprint to make reciprocal LTE roaming agreements.

I doubt that we'll have domestic LTE roaming because of politics and money :(

Well hopefully we'll at least see global LTE roaming because of the GTI. Getting clearwire will allow sprint to take part in this.

Now if only if dish would stop getting in the way of the deal ;)

It means you are on Sprint LTE but roaming for 1x. It happens all the time.

Ah that makes sense, had my hopes up for a moment there :P

Still though, it was a very peculiar sight to see

  5. On my way home riding the bus in San Francisco, I look at my status bar and see something which left me completely confused.... LTE and extended (roaming) right next to each other. I did take a screenshot but I don't know to upload a picture via mobile so when I do get home I'll post the picture.

  6. Been having an issue with connectivity in SF, I can't stay connected to EVDO with my iPhone 5, I've tried restoring, updating the carrier files and traveling around the city but no matter what happens, it will randomly drop me to 1x and texts/calls don't word while data does
