  1.

    JIC you all missed this:

Site acceptance reports from Thursday (8/1), Friday (8/2), Saturday (8/3) and Sunday (8/4):

    • Columbus - 7 updates (1 LTE, 6 CDMA 800)

If I'm not mistaken, that puts us at 4 LTE towers... So the question is... where is the latest accepted tower?

  2. What's up Columbus? Anyone else as optimistic as myself for this week? This may be our first multi LTE site week and the first site inside the outerbelt with 800.

With everything that I've been seeing last week, I think this may be a big week due the Columbus market. Hopefully, we are correct!

  3. Well, spent the day in Centerburg. I didn't get so much as a blip. Not even the Galaxy Nexus phantom LTE. The only time I had anything was for a brief second. Barely long enough for a screen shot.

This was taken just after I turned on route 3 off of 605 headed north.

I hope this is helpful. Sorry if it's duplicate info.

When I went up there last week, I had to get off of 3C in order to get 4G. The terrain up there makes it tough for LTE to break through.

  4. Wow.. sounds like those guys are s.o.l. ... You'd think Sprint would just buy a company as small as that, but maybe that market isn't profitable.. I wonder if some expansion for Sprint could take place in areas like that.. My parents live in SE Ohio where Sprint has a smaller presence. I don't go there often, but it would be nice if Sprint had LTE there

I'd settle for 3G in SE Ohio! Most of that region is still 2G.

  5. Ok, 400 ... now does that include Granville, Grove City and areas Sprint may consider Columbus market?

I guessed 200+ from the map looking at sites 'slightly' outside of the 270 belt and everything inside 270..

but its great to have you here giving us the scoop !

I just noticed West Virginia.. what's the deal ? No NV even in Charleston, Huntington... why ??

From what I understand, Sprint doesn't have any towers there. They use a third party carrier (Mountaineer Wireless I do believe). That carrier hasn't agreed to upgrade their network from what I've heard.

  6. PM me a market you want me to check out for you and i can pull info on it. I dont have the desire to participate in to

    o many other market threads.

Yeah.... I sound selfish BUT I think I and most of us in the Columbus thread want you all to ourselves.... Hahaha

  7. I meant that he went there before it was approved by Sprint, so 800 may not have been live at that time.

I do believe it was approved by Sprint when I went up... That was the only way I knew to go...lol. However, my phone was acting goofy that day which is why I probably didn't pick it up.

  8. Hey folks,

Sorry if I've pointed this out already, but with the Bloomfield Road site going live with LTE. The Columbus Market has the first 3G/800/4G tower in Ohio!

"It's a celebration!" in my Rick James voice.

When I went to the tower a few days ago, I didn't pick up the 1x 800 on that tower. However, my phone was being "interesting" that day as well so that probably was why I didn't pick it up.

  9. Yes they have the Cell hut installed, but still no antennas.

With me having a job where I travel a lot, I think I can confidently say that this will not be a Sprint tower. You rarely see Sprint utilize an enclosed hut like that.... not saying that they never do. I'm going to bet that is Verizon or AT&T. They typically use huts. T-Mobile and Sprint typically do not. I could be wrong though.

  10. Ditto - I thought a lot of work had been done there and it'd be live sooner than later.  However, I'm sure there are always reasons why another site might be started later and completed sooner due to all the contractor schedules, backhaul, etc.  Oh well, I'm sure it'll light up soon!

My commute takes me by the Jackson Rd tower that's lit up... It's like LTE is taunting me every morning and afternoon...! :-)

Hahaha! I know what you mean. My commute takes my past the Jackson tower as well and I feel that same torture...

  11. I can't wait until they update a cluster near me. There are places in my house that I can actually have my phone pointed in one direction and have it using one tower, and if I rotate the phone 180 degrees, it switches to another tower. :td:

I know EXACTLY what you mean. When I am at work in Washington Court House, my phone bounces off of two towers depending . When I am home in Reynoldsburg, my phone bounces off of THREE towers which sometimes causes calls to drop during the peak times of the day.

  12. Main St right at I-270 (it's right in the middle of the interchange there)  CDMA Field test app gives it a BSID of 209 & SID of 4418...

I didn't realize they ran fiber to that tower already. I know that it was ran to the tower on Main and Brice behind the Flowerama. No changes in speed has taken place though.

  13. Speaking of Galloway, the Norton Road site has fiber ran into it now. Still nothing on the tower but more progress finally.

It sort of surprises me. I figured this would be one of the first towers with LTE. The pictures I took a couple months ago made me think the majority of the work was done there...except backhaul wasn't ran at that time.

  14. I'm anxiously awaiting the I-270/Main St Tower LTE activation, I live about 900 Feet LOS from it, and data is still horrendous despite the recent upgrades, They have cabinets in, and they were running Fiber along Main St at 270 a few weeks ago, but I haven't been able to go look to see if the backhaul is in yet or not... Although they do seem to have the new panels in... I'm kind of hoping they are doing a 4 sides activation of LTE then lighing up the rest (1 North Side, 1 South Side, 1 West Side and 1 East Side) since that might mean that main/270 tower gets some early LTE love...

Which tower did you see fiber being ran to? There are several there in that vicinity.
