  1. Pyroscott -

Do you like the Nexus better than the Et4g?

I played with the Nexus and I dont think Id like it as much as my Et4g.

(although I love ics on my prime)

I'm like so in love with my Et4g !

    That is saying something too!

I get bored quick with cell phones!

Well said. Here in Athens there are at least 4 towers. Guess which (1) tower they upgraded? The one closest to the interstate about a month ago. Nothing has been touched since. But I will be grateful when they are all complete. I at least have LTE at work now and I can actually go all day with the stock battery in my S3.

A little off topic, my apology in advance but is there a way to see the sid for LTE? My GS3 only shows the 1X sid regardless of where my LTE signal comes from. I use cdma field test to see the info.

There are no SIDs used, only mcc mnc for the US. You can see the site identity using the LTE engineering screens. Look at my signature for more info.

I looked at the engineering screen but had no clue what any of it meant. Thanks for the info

    Right now I have 310 - 120

  4. how ironic would that be AT&T running fiber to a Sprint tower. the tower this sprint location shares with Verizon.

Even AT&T Uverse top speed of anything offered here is about 10mbps.....

charter offers 100mbps cable here, so I'd still guess sprint is just buying data from Charter.

I haven't even noticed my sprint 4g lte data being metered in my plan.

Uverse is not fiber to your home. It terminates with copper. Backhaul is fiber to the rru I believe.

  5. 4G LTE has been out here for 2 days...phone only registers 3G. Called Sprint. Indeed, an issue. 37091 and 38401 affected....Strange i'm sure the same backhaul doesn't serve both these cities.........

I'm convinced the 4G tower in 37091 is served by CHARTER CABLE. there is no other choice for anything in this town for that speed. Could they just be running a cable line into a modem in the switching house to serve sprint here?

There are plenty of fiber backhaul providers even in the rural areas of east Tennessee. But more than likely AT&T has fiber running to the tower.

  6. I pass two Towers in Evansville on a regular basis and have seen no activity around them. It's coming south from Indy. It looks like they have it in Bloomington, IN now. Taking care of the big College towns.

Bloomington is in the Indianapolis market. That's why it is being worked on. The entire Indy market is being worked on. The fact that it is a college town is irrelevant. In fact, it was the last city of size in the Indy market to get Sprint LTE.

I read a lot of moaning from people in Ohio about how slow progress has been there but Southern Indiana especially Southwest Indiana including the Evansville metro area has still not seen any activity

  7. Yeah that's where I work. I was just joking thought it was funny. There's a tower about 2 miles from there I'm waiting on.

Although I do have a question it seems some towers that are on and have supposedly been on for a few weeks are very weak do they not turn them on fully when they flip the switch. I can connect but have to be very close and even then it's hard to hang on to signal.

From what I've seen down here in my area sometimes they are only turning on one sector of the tower. So if your on a side of the tower that hasn't been turned on you might lock on if your close enough. They are still turning them off and on down here.

  8.

That map is deceiving. Those light areas of purple usually aren't very usable on 4G

Not really deceiving. That's what the lightest areas mean. A very weak signal, that may or may not be available depending on your device and your location.

    Robert

If you look at the map he posted he lives in a spot that's in between the light areas. I was just saying even if he was in that light area he wouldn't be able to use it indoors. I'm sure the coverage in that area will improve over time as they complete more towers. And unless you read about the sensorly maps in these forums you would probably assume the light areas are useable.

  9. i just know what i've been told by the sprint engineers..not regular tech support..I've gone above them on several occasions. The only phone not having issues here even with multiple airave replacements is my daughter's trender...the other phones have issues..They did say they've been waiting for a new firmware..something i haven't seen yet here.

I remember when my girlfriend first got her iPhone 5 it would not connect to the airave but she just googled that problem and found out it is very common on the iphones but I'm pretty sure all she did after that was a prl update and never had an issue since. We only use wifi at home though as far as data connection's

  10. Where are you guys showing Sprint 4G LTE coverage in NASHVILLE? Are you sure you aren't misintrepreting that as WIMAX?

I don't see any 4g LTE coverage anywhere on the maps anywhere in the Nashville METRO area....

Columbia, Lewisburg, and Shelbyville are the only areas that show Sprint4GLTE coverage so far.

i'm getting a Samsumg Victory in a few days, so I will be able to report on the coverage here.

but.. I don't think Nashville has it yet.....

Nashville has the most 4G LTE in the whole state so far.

    * Wayne, NJ

  12. This is where I have been mapping in my area. Cleveland TN.

The map goes farther and Chattanooga has about the same if not more LTE coverage.

    uploadfromtaptalk1367734003485.jpg

The Chattanooga coverage hasnt changed much in over a month. Looks like the crews have spread out over the entire East TN area. I do notice most towers in this area around Athens have had new panels up for a couple months. Every few weeks they turn 1 on or at least a sector or 2 on. I assume for testing.
