Just took a trip down to Knoxville and I'm rather surprised the LTE coverage still isn't all that great. Seems like it spread like wildfire in the Tri-cities area and down I-81. Wonder if they're running into some kind of snags getting them online.

Just moved to the Tri-Cities area and man is this sweet. LTE all around town and the 3G isn't too shabby either. It's so nice to be in an area where the network works and it's only going to get better. So exciting

Well today in my office I've stayed connected all day so far *crossing fingers*, let's see how long this will last with my EVO Lte. As they are not supposed to have that great of reception??? I've had no complaints here myself.
I've had issues with my phone's hand-offs between ehrpd and evdo so it might just be an issue I have.

What has been everyone's experience with 4G inside of a building so far?
Only indoor experience I've had with it was in a hotel room. With my evo lte it was slightly frustrating. It would randomly cut out and switch to evdo 3g and never switch back with out an airplane mode toggle but with my note 2 it would hold a signal seemingly indefinitely. So if you have a phone with a good antenna you ought to be alright for the most part.

Finally got to take my trip up to Johnson City from Knoxville. Data speeds and connectivity are quite improved since the last time I took the trip, especially once you hit I-81. Definitely was nice seeing the the 4g icon light up for the first time. Ran sensorly on both an EVO LTE and a Note 2 which made me want to throw my EVO LTE out the car window. Having to airplane mode toggle it for it to pick up LTE is rather frustrating. The Note 2 had no issues picking up and maintaining signals. Once in Johnson City though, both phones pick up and maintain LTE just fine in the main area of town. It's quite nice and I can't wait for it to get to Knoxville.
Here's some speeds here in JC. Not some of the spectacular numbers I have seen but still quite good and much better than I'm used to.

I wonder if with the weather and other delays that the crew started work on the surrounding areas and when Knoxville was ready to start work again, they were told to finish up the area they are in now.
I don't know, the weather is almost always worse on the areas outside of knoxville. I'd assume it'd be easier to work in the Knoxville area while other areas are recovering from weather delays.

Yeah, it varies. I've had guys so nice, that they stop work and open plans and show me what's going on. Telling me where they've been and where they're going. And then others have chased me off and threaten to call the cops. And everything in between.

Wow, that's a bit ridiculous. I wonder why some of them are so disgruntled.

Seems like these guys working on the towers don't like to talk about things too much. Couldn't get much out of them.

I work off cheery st in North knox and have never drooped to 1xrtt in months using s3. but i know that susks no data on 1xrtt or so slow might as well not be there. I noticed here in Seymour I always had good speeds on 3g but when i went to work it was bad but about 5 or 6 months ago it sped up fast off cherry st what part of town are you in Shahal? must be your main tower i would think ofcourse im never up there pass 5pm
Cherry st really isn't north knoxville. I'm up here off i75 north between merchants and calahan. This is generally the only area I have issues.

I have a lot of drops to 1x in North Knoxville. Been happening for at least a month. No idea if it's due to tower work, tower congestion or the phone itself.

I feel like that sometimes lol I keep waiting on the restraining order. Speaking of the crew I caught the Ericsson crews at two different locations this morning. One was in his truck at Hutchison Ave and the other was at the Washington Pike down the road from the first. Also passed 2 trucks on I40 in West Knoxville this morning and was half tempted to follow them to see where they were heading. On a different note I've been noticing since the latest prl update my phone has been dropping 3g eHRPD to 1xRTT and Evdo Rev A and signal strength around town seems to be jumping all over the place not sure if it's from the prl or the tower work around town.

Speaking of PRL updates. A PRL update was forced to my phone the other day out of nowhere. Did that happen to anyone else around here and would that have anything to do with the rollout at all?

Just noticed on sensorly that Johnson City is showing signs of LTE.
Nice. My trip to JC next month will totally be worth it now.

They are behind schedule with the snow from last week but he didn't say how far behind. When I caught him he was checking to see if they could work that day at that tower and was leaving to go check 2 more

With all the ice here right now, it'll likely slow them down a bit more.

I stopped and talked to a crew here at one of the Knoxville sites I've been watching 2 days ago and they are about to finish the back haul of that tower within a week weather permitting. The NV cabinet is already in place as is the cables running to it I couldn't see if the ruus were in place yet but he said his crews were almost done with quite a bit of towers within this area of North Knox. So hopefully within the next few weeks we hopefully might see some of these towers coming online.

That's great to know. North knoxville definitely needs it.

Can't wait until there's some activity a bit closer to Knoxville. The anticipation is killing me. I want to check it out.
-
That whole area over there definitely needs it. Most of those areas have had only 2g for the longest time. It'll be nice when I'm taking trips to the tri cities that I'll have a good data connection soon.

I think too many people put a little too much emphasis on ram usage, not realizing how android's memory management works.
Smart man. Glad someone said it.

According to Sensorly a couple of LTE sites are or were live at one point in Greenville. Anyone near there that could check it out?

Maybe I've got my interstates mixed up. I seem to remember data speeds being fairly decent until you started getting close to the tri cities.

Just me again spamming up the boards but is there a way of finding out if there's some sort of issue with the network in a localized area?

For those having issues, do a factory reset if you haven't done so since the update.

I just bought this thing and it just randomly reboots like crazy straight out of the box. Apparently it's a huge widespread issue. Thinking of returning it. It's great when it works though.
