  1. If something on the Internet offends you, you're going to have a bad time.

Yep, but if you don't like it you can go on the Internet and complain about it. Lol.

  2. The Sprint S4 tri-band is as real as leprechauns but for some reason tons of people have been swearing for months it's coming any day........ Meanwhile there are several phones about to come out that will be real and released on Sprint that have it. Read the first post in this thread lol. 6-6-13 confirmed S4 with tri-band huh.

  3. Sprint Currently is using 1900 (not 1800) for LTE, EVDO, Voice. Sprint is rolling out 800 for Voice (CDMA 1xA), EVDO, and LTE. Lilotimz correct me if I am wrong...Also Sprint will eventually roll out 2500 for just LTE... so 800/1900/2500 when complete. You are correct in that 800 has larger coverage/in-building penetration. Lilo can probably add more....

Think of it like this. You have a tower in the middle around that is a circle representing 2500mhz with bad penetration but great for dense population. Around that a little farther out is another circle 1900mhz which is decent building penetration. And farther outside of that circle is 800mhz good building penetration and widest coverage. When you think of MHz think the higher the number the narrow the coverage and the worse the penetration pretty much.

  4. AJ has a peculiar way of wording his opinions and facts. Learn to live with it cause he's pretty damn smart.

Also your last question wasn't needed. If you don't like his comments, don't reply in the same manner. Treat others how you wanna be treated, right?

Regardless, I'm interested in the Active Display, it sounds really nice. Kind of reminds me of some of the Nokia N9 (I think?) features.

  5. I am not talking about the pricing of the GS4. I just brought up the BOGO free promotion as a sign that Sprint may be trying to find a quick way to get rid of all their existing GS4 single band LTE devices to make room for a GS4 triband LTE version. But like I said in a previous post, it still needs to hit the FCC first to confirm that a device is in the making and will support Sprint's triband LTE band frequencies.

For all we know this BOGO free promotion could just be a promotion for Sprint to attract new customers with its most popular smartphone. I want to think the main side benefit is to get rid of existing inventory that Sprint already made commitments to Samsung for.

Yes that was my point. Sprint is just competing with the competition. I doubt we will see a triband LTE GS4 is my point. We might see a 32gb version.

  6. Its just that all we have at this point is just hints from Sprint about a possible triband LTE GS4. With the BOGO free GS4 promotion going on right now that tells me that Sprint is aggressively trying to attract customers as well as get rid of their existing inventory.

Also the announcement by Samsung about releasing FDD/TDD LTE dual mode GS4 models in the Fall makes it even more plausible that it may come. However I am just not totally convinced until I see a FCC filing of a GS4 model that supports Sprint's triband LTE frequencies with the phone dimensions of the GS4 sometime inn the Fall.

I would like an alternative choice which would be a triband GS4 in case I suddenly have 2nd thoughts about getting the Note 3 which is currently my first choice.

Or they could be getting the 32gb version finally. Or they could be trying to sell the phone for a fair price considering they sell it for $250. Buy one get one isn't even that good of a deal from Sprint considering Best Buy will match that and give you a gift card.

  7. I do not believe the FCC doc exists yet, so it is all rumors at this point. The fact that it has been said that tri-band is coming soon and Samsung has been mentioned, makes it very likely.

    /if it s NOT tri-band I don't know what I will do....

Well the new LTE A Korean S4 has the Snapdragon 800 which this phone is supposed to have so I would pretty much think it has to, but no proof yet.

  8. I feel like they night call it Galaxy S4. That way no one gets confused and when they start emptying their old stock of s4's that's when they start bringing in the new ones and the only way to find out which one you have is by being able to tell what processor you have. That's just my guess.

I was just joking. The carrier branding thing died with the S2 and all its crazy names.

  9. I guess I should have said that I am intimately familiar with Google Now. With the Motorola X, the question is will Google Now become intimately familiar, too intimately familiar with me?

    AJ

It doesn't so anything until you say those three key words. So it's always listening for Okay Google Now, not everything you talk about. I personally trust Google more so with my data than any other company out there. They are pretty up front with what they don't and you can always opt out if you don't like it. Unlike Apple or Facebook etc. , now that would be scary if they did this.

  10. Someone mentioned the fact that Sprint is having this BOGO free Galaxy S4 promotion right now could hint that Sprint is trying to get rid of all their existing inventory quicker so that it can start shipping in triband Galaxy S4 models to stores for the Fall. It makes sense to me and the timing seems to be pretty good right now. I guess we still have to look out for a Sprint galaxy s4 triband model hitting the FCC to be completely sure.

Yep, it will be called the Galaxy S4 Skyrocket.

  11. I had my Nexus 7 for only 36 hours and I already traded it for my son's Galaxy Note 8.0. He had been drooling over my Nexus 7 since FedEx delivered it Saturday morning. The Nexus 7 has the most beautiful screen of any device ever to date. He's very happy with the trade, as you can imagine.

Ya I looked at the one we have at work today for the first time and it is beautiful. I wish they would have put the Snapdragon 800 chip and got rid of the camera though.

  12. Just curious about PRL updatges on cyanogenmod. Anyone else running this ROM?

There's no way to update PRL within the OS..it can get tricky updating it at all form what I've read. Will we need to update PRL to get LTE when it goes live? Should I even be concerned?

Just flash a TW ROM and update the prl and profile. The easiest way to download it is make a nandroid of a tw ROM or stock rooted with custom recovery, update your prl and flash back to CM

  13. That's correct. Sprint does not have any phones, but they do have several Tri-Band hotspots available. Phones with Tri-Band capabilities will be available withing a couple months. The first one, an LG phone, has already passed through FCC approval.

Theoretical speeds can approach 100Mbps, but until the proper backhaul is in place, and Clear is able to deploy on enough spectrum, that will remain theoretical. Robert has already tested out the network in Denver.

Aaahhhhhh true 4g. Well after hearing Leo Laporte talk about the Moto X today on the Tech Guy Show I think it might be my next phone.

  14. Everyone who is getting the new Nexus 7 please report back about any issues. The first few batches of the original Nexus 7 had problems with screen separation, image retention, failure to power on and blownrattling speakers.

I ended up with one that really doesn't like to power on sometimes. I have the 32 GB version on pre-order at the Play Store.

I bought 3 OG Nexus 7s with not one issue. Im sure some people had problems but some of the posts I saw were pretty ridiculous sounding.
