  1. I guess Sprint was right about this 600mhz spectrum and how long it's going to take. Some of the Tmo people aren't too happy about it. That they can thank John for over hyping it up. Tbh, three years isn't that long of a wait.

Now let's see what Sprint is going to do between now and 2020.

It will probably take longer.  I am thinking 5 years instead of three.

I am thinking they will have issues with the Canadian and Mexican borders just like Sprint with 800mhz.

  2. To me, all the bantering about 600MHz, Sprint's participation, T-M market dominance with it, etc... is becoming out of hand.  Let us break down some facts:

    1. Sprint is focusing on what they have now.  If they were to use their current capital/capex and apply it towards 600MHz spectrum purchase and take away from building out their current holdings, they get nowhere with customer experience and expectations.  We would still have subscribers saying the service is poor.  So, pick your poison...  If Sprint's investment in HPUE does what Gunther, Saw and others say it will, some (not all) of the challenges they face will be eliminated.

    2. If what I have read in some of the replies this morning are true about other users of the 600MHz spectrum having to leave the space before it can be used, this sounds like 800MHz issues that Sprint went through and still are in some areas.  Why in the hell would Sprint want to go through having the spectrum and not be able to use it?  There will be issues with "squatters" not leaving regardless of the number of mandates from the FCC to leave.  We all here have seen it happen.  I would say it is a lesson learned for Sprint rather than saying they ignored the auction.

    3. There are no chipsets to handle the spectrum currently.  The build out of antennas will take three to five years.  The cost to build?  Eight billion dollars was one number I read.  I would say it would be even higher and by a substantial margin.  Even then, will TM be able to say they cover everyone?  I would lean towards no.

Have a great pink bunny weekend.

  3. I'm new to iPhone and iOS. When I owned android phones in the past every 4-6 months I would perform a factory reset on my device to clean it up. Is that necessary with iOS?

The reason I ask is my wife has a 6s plus that she says has been running slower than normal. When that happened with my android device I would normally do a factory reset.

Hopefully not.  Make sure all of the updates are done for iOS.  If it is a Sprint phone, also run ##UPDATE# from the dialer.  That should help as well.

  4. I actually like the product red iPhone. A lot of people are mad about it having the white front but the colors for PR are red and white. I want to get the phone but honestly it's something I shouldn't buy since the 8 is months away. Besides, it was like pulling teeth to get my jet black plus lol.

I agree. with waiting.  I still have the 6S+.  With HPUE being deployed, hopefully the 8 will incorporate the technology.  I would love to have 3CA but if another upgrade is necessary to have HPUE, I will wait.

Jet black is more appealing.  Red, for those in Columbus who love scarlet, does have its own appeal.

  5. You can put anything in the Facebook column as adware, and is only going to get even more bloated, and your battery life will shrink.

My wife is on Messenger all of the time.  The batteries for both of her iPhone and iPad use a tremendous amount of battery power for this app.  We keep two chargers in the kitchen and they are constantly plugged in.  I use Messenger maybe once a month and then it is only a quick reply.

  6. Apple is notorious for being cost conscious and doesn't include unnecessary components.

For example, there was a specific model of the iPhone 6s for AT&T which supported Band 30. This required additional components, but since none of the other carriers needed support for it, Apple didn't include it on the model for Sprint/Verizon/T-Mobile.

Apple also has a notoriously long design cycle for its devices, so it all depends when Sprint told Apple about its HPUE plans.

It also depends on how willing Apple is to build in a domestic carrier-specific feature for Sprint, and the costs involved in doing so. Perhaps if HPUE is implemented globally, that will help with the cost/device equation.

We'll see what happens this fall.

Very true on all points.  Even if the Sprint variant cost 10 to 20% more to produce, I would invest in a new phone.

  7. The only reason I did upgrade is because I wanted out of my Lease. HPUE won't affect me too much because I have usable B26 at home when I'm not using Wifi. When B41 finally launches I'll be a happy camper though.

I understand.  I hope this weekend my wife and I can go to the Sprint store in town and see if we can reduce our current spend for the current services from Sprint.  I believe we can save approximately 80 to 100 dollars a month.  Will just have to ask and see.

  8. I am holding out for the next model.  Hopefully it will support HPUE.  I did spend the gift card from the raffle last month for a new iPad Pro for my wife.  She dropped her last iPad and shattered the screen but it was having other issues before then.  I also invested in a new Lifeproof Nuud case for it.  Let us hope it survives.
