Sprint put all their eggs in the WiMax basket and look what it got them in the end' date=' rotten eggs. They learned from that mistake and they won't do that again. All partner companies will only be used for extra LTE capacity from this point forward. Sprint is making the smart move to build their own LTE network.[/quote']

Well, that was the only basket at the time.

    • The financial markets crave short-term certainty for investors, but customers value long-term investments in innovation.
    • We hold a strong position in the market due to our unlimited data pricing, our portfolio of innovative devices and services, and our strong position in the growing prepaid segment.

    Launch of the iPhone

    • With the iPhone, Sprint now has arguably one of the best lineups of devices, as well as unlimited pricing plans that give Sprint true competitive differentiation.
    • 1.8 million iPhone sales, 40% of which were to new customers, confirm the iPhone's ability to attract new customers

Network Vision on schedule and on budget

    • Network Vision is a central component of our efforts to improve both our customer experience and expand our operating margins.
    • With Sprint's Network Vision we'll migrate customers to one network, improve our 3G coverage/capacity, and introduce 4G LTE service and devices on our own network.

    Improved customer experience

    • Our customer experience has improved, according to improved internal metrics, external survey results, and awards.
    • Last year we added more than five million total customers and recorded the highest number of customers in the company's history.

    Confidence in Sprint

    • Sprint successfully sold $2 billion in bonds that will help us meet the funding needs for our business as we move forward with Network Vision and the launch of the iPhone.
    • This sale demonstrated the financial community's confidence in Sprint's long-term viability.
    • Last fall, Sprint also raised $4 billion in cash, a major achievement in light of the volatility in the market at the time.

  2. Wrong forum. Perhaps in news.

But thanks for submitting. I had not seen this.

    Summary:

In an exclusive interview with Mobile World Live, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse has defended the US operator’s decision to begin offering the iPhone in a bid to attract new customers despite the risk of the heavy subsidies it must pay to Apple eating into its revenue. Elsewhere in the interview, which was conducted at last month’s Mobile World Congress, Hesse also updated on Sprint’s LTE rollout and shared his thoughts on future consolidation in the US mobile market following the collapse of the AT&T/T-Mobile USA merger.
  3. Guys...

Duffman's top post in this thread quotes the full text of an article from behind the WSJ paywall. That is a big no no and could get Robert hit with a copyright violation lawsuit' date=' which would likely mean the end of S4GRU.

Robert cannot realistically follow every single thread, but we certainly do not want to get him in hot water, nor lose our favorite online hangout. So, please know the posting guidelines (linked below) and help remind each other to follow the guidelines.

It was not behind a paywall when I cut and pasted. I have trimmed it. Please PM me next time rather than posting publicly so that I am notified of my error in a timely manner. I do not follow every thread either.

He is so full of s*** it's coming out of his nose. People like him should be stuffed and roasted for comments like that. And I sure hope their stock price doesn't fall to 1.75 a share.

I would not mind. I would opt back into the employee stock purchase program. LOL

  5. From WSJ

    http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20120319-707703.html

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) shares fell premarket after the research firm Sanford C. Bernstein called a bankruptcy filing "a very legitimate risk" in downgrading the wireless carrier to underperfrom.

Sprint spokesman Scott Sloat said the company had no comment. Sprint shares fell 4.5% to 2.76 premarket.

  6. Man, that's horrible for taxes. In Pahrump I only pay $6.08 for 2 lines.

    Federal-Univ Serv Assess Non-LD ............................................................. $2.17

    Nevada State-Hearing Impaired Fee ........................................................... $0.06

    Nevada State-Univ Serv Assessment ........................................................... $0.05

    Administrative Charge ................................................................................ $3.00

    Regulatory Charge ...................................................................................... $0.80

    Total $6.08

    Nevada #50.

State and Local Wireless Tax Rate:

    Nevada 2.08%

    New Mexico 10.52%

    Texas 12.43%

  7. Is this what you wanted?

    Federal-Univ Serv Assess Non-LD $0.67

    State-State Cost Recovery Fee $0.21

    Texas State-Univ Serv Assessment $0.50

    Administrative Charge $1.50

    Regulatory Charge $0.40

    Texas State-911 Tax $0.50

    Texas State-Sales Tax $1.43

    Fort Worth City-District Tax $0.12

    Fort Worth City-Sales Tax $0.22

  8.

I just want an idea on how much wireless providers charge in different areas. Some wireless companies charges more than others. Do you think wireless taxes are unfair in some areas?

If that's the case, anecdotal posts will not prove anything. How about you get some bills from your friends with the major carriers in the same taxing locale and compare them? That would be provide you with a much more accurate answer.

  9.

This is my understanding. It went round and round in forums when the iPhone came out. I took a lot of heat from iPhoniacs when I told them that Sprint was going to charge 50 to SERO members for the iOS privellege.

Some of those SERO people can be downright crazy. I was told I was jealous' date=' I was told I was stupid, I was told that I should shut up.

In the end, I was right. And that was deeply satisfying.

    Robert[/quote']

You can see the plans are roughly set based on subsidy and other costs. Even though the iPhone is 3G only (no payment to Clear) the subsidy demands a $50 MRC.

If the iPhone was Wimax-capable, you can bet the MRC would be more than $50 or not available on SERO at all.

I'd kill for one of those plans.. I wonder how much longer they'll last.

    Only until Sprint becomes successful.

  10. SERO comes in three different flavors ($30,$40 and $50) now so you can add just about any type of phone as long as you upgrade to the right SERO plan.. I'm not an expert on SERO, perhaps someone else can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

AFAIK, that's correct. Roughly it is $30 for feature phones, $40 for smartphones, and $50 for 4G phones and iPhones.

But I could be wrong. I don't sell phones... I just support the network side.
