  1. Gaining more credence to a possible September 10 announcement and September 20 release, this article was posted on phonearena.com stating that a reader, who is a Sprint employee, was notified that the iPhone retail section of the store have to be updated by September 16.

They could be gearing up changes for the new note 3 as well ;). But tbh, I actually mite like this version and over hauled iOS. It's long over due.

  2. The above is the key. 5g is a concept, one that has not yet solidified into a practical implementation. As we get closer many of the technologies currently being developed will either find their way into future incremental improvements to 4g (4.5g? like wimax \ hspda is really 3.5g) or (and probably also) into whatever 5g standards emerge. What I think they have done with NV \ NV2 etc is give themselves the best chance of expanding their network as fast as they can. Building out what would amount to a proprietary network would probably be unreliable and hugely expensive. I guess they could 'lead the charge' but what sprint craves is quality of service (through coverage and capacity). It's a valid question, but I think they made the right choice, I'm not sure they even could push for a '5g' network for years anyway.

I can't wait to see what 5G will be like lol

  3. I"m not sure if this is supposed to be a joke or not?

There isn't really anything that can be considered "5G" since we've really only just begun to get close to a true 4G network.

It's not sadly. Everything is revolutionizing much fasteer and as the data usage gets higher each year. Which means better speeds.

  4. He always goes off-topic.  I'm down to see these larger network speeds delivered to cities for their use to all of it's residents.  This level of speed could easily be utilized by a large city, or maybe by a small consortium of people at greater distance to the hub.

You can fix that by blackmailing the local government officials with pictures of them holding a cat by it's tail.  That'll learns them.  But no really, your best bet to change the oligopoly is to inform the locals that your elected officials are not looking to save them money and allow competition.  My HOA is doing the same thing right now.

I always go off topic? Hm I always compare other things and bring other things in that are off topic. I've never seen 400GB/s speeds so I felt the need to compare that those speeds are amazing compared to wired-in-home speeds.

  5. Holy shit I'm bored.

Just read this thread because I have nothing else to do....

But seriously, this thread is about 3 times as long as it should be.

On the rich man's HTC, sipping on some Moonshine.

    It's not over yet... lol

If it occurs every 10 years or so, I should be able to recall at least two periods in my life where this had a noticeable effect, honestly I don't :) I think at worst we would maybe notice the northern lights farther south and possibly some small errors in unhardened \ unshielded \ non ecc electronics but momma earth does a good job of keeping us safe when we aren't too busy destroying it. We frequently hear about this kind of huge impending doom but honestly I am far more concerned by the routine tsunamis, earthquake, hurricans, tornados, cyclones, centipedes and tang than CME's \ solar flares etc. If at worst it knocks out power it's no problem. We routinely turn off power \ sewerage \ water for impending natural disasters so we are prepped anyway. Life on a volcano in the middle of the pacific ;) A few hours without FB won't kill me, now a few hours without being able to check for building permits, thats another matter!

iirc it was actually the opposite was rumoured to be causing impending problems, that we 'may' be headed towards a repeat of the maunder minimum of the 17th century? I think they were only talking about a few degree dip but for perhaps a hundred years. No idea if they were right, I'll leave that to the hexpurts.

Well 10 and 20 years ago. Wireless hardly existed and technology compared to now has evolved like crazy. The one CME that is going to hit earth could cause problems with wireless objects.

  6. No one has that kind of speed other than carriers. There just isn't a need for it unless you're at the carrier level.

    It's probably a peering issue.

And no, there are no servers anywhere close to that speed.

That's not entirely true. Major hospitals use GB networks.

  7. Jacksonville, FL.  I get 58mbps but I'm throttled pretty hard whenever I watch any kind of video - even on 480p.  It's quite disturbing.

I'd LOVE to have speeds that quick.  I wonder if there's any servers that have that kind of upload speed to support that. LOL

    Hell ya man!! lol!!

SprintLink is not a FTTH (fiber to the home) provider, or even a consumer producer at all. It is a tier 1 Internet backbone provider. They sell bandwidth on their global backbone network to other providers, not consumer connections.

Yes I know that.. lol I was just saying IF ONLY :/.

  8. Sprint isn't made out of money like Verizon and ATT. Why? Because Sprint offers amazing deals and well.. let's face it there coverage isn't like Verizons. Verizon can spend 20Billion to work on there network because people like to over pay. Let's just say I prefer sprint 4G over Verizon 4G here and Verizon 4G blanked my city. But I do not want to pay out the ass for there shit. I've used 7Gb of data this month. That would be a big ass big on Verizon. and i sayyy NTY! :)

  9. That's making even Google look bad.  Why can't any of these fiber networks come to Jacksonville?  I seem to have only 1 option for fiber internet - and that's the monopolistic Comcast.

400GB/S is amazing lol. Could you imagine? Jesus lol. 400 people with 1GB/S in one package. Hospitals don't even get that.  and comcast has gotten better in my area. I went from 15mb down to 50MB down and at peak hours I get 80MB

  10. Orlando is still a bit of a patchwork of legacy and NV towers as well as having several that can be quite overloaded during the day, so it really just depends on what I'm handing off to. There's lots of eHRPD on towers here that aren't upgraded yet, so sometimes the eHRPD is dog slow that I'm switching to.

We had those problems for a while. But for the past 5 months. It's become near flawless with my phone and what not. I love it lol
