Yep even if you have idiots on Reddit claiming they left TMO cause of their slow rollout of 2.5. as of it can go Nationwide in 3 months emoji848.png

OMG are you kidding?  People are really that ignorant?  Wow.  Well I'm personally in it for the long haul.  I've been waiting too damn long to see the power of 2.5 unleashed nationwide and while Sprint did a surprisingly solid and admirable job of building out their network with extremely limited resources, I'm looking forward to seeing what a less restrictive budget and crafty network engineering can do.

  2. And to be quite frank mmwave is largely useless at this point and will remain as such for quite some time.  It's just too isolated and doesn't scale. The speeds TMO will get out of 2.5 are gonna be extremely impressive as it is.  I think TMobile will find that they don't even need mmwave as much as they were planning when 600 and 2.5 are perfectly capable of blanketing the nation in a very robust and speedy network.

Agreed.   It won't be easy.    But something has to budge... if the state commission insisted on 93% or more coverage with a certain threshold of minimum speed... hopefully the FCC will continue to address the NIMBY's.       I think some here, sadly, think this can all be done in a few weeks and there will be vast amounts of coverage everywhere.    Most former Sprint accounts  haven't even been moved over to the T-Mobile network yet, which still has to happen, only roaming has been unlocked.   Nothing has changed in my neighborhood.    In fact with all the talk and news articles of T-Mobile turning off Sprint's B41.... it's still on here and I can connect to it sometimes.    Lots of work that hasn't even begun yet.

Here in Midtown Atlanta I noticed my phone was stuck (happily) on TMobile bands for about 5 to 7 days but it's been back on band 41 exclusively (Sprint coverage was THAT GOOD here) ever since.  No complaints here!

The problem with covering rural Northern California is that they don't want new towers to be built because it will Martha natural beauty. I understand it but then if you want coverage you have to compromise.

Right. You can't blink coverage into existence.  They want to have their invisible (quinoa) cake and, apparently, eat it, too.  No, Karen. Doesn't work like that!

  5. So with "Day 1" rapidly approaching (8/1), what sort of branding changes is everyone anticipating? I'm assuming the websites will be merged more (perhaps all the way) completely. Also with the Note 20 "Unpacked" event taking place on 8/5, it seems more than likely that New TMO will use the launch and device as a showpiece for demonstrating the new combined network's capabilities. I see the Note 20 series as being the first true flagship phone that will be marketed as taking advantage of the combined company's broad and deep spectrum portfolio.  This should be interesting.  The Pixel 5 may or may not be just around the corner (conflicting rumors, Covid-19 related internal structure changes within Google, etc) but if it does materialize in October would be the second major Android device to trumpet new magenta's full power but at a much easier to digest price.  I look forward to the elimination of duplicitous branding and what shakes out this late summer and fall device wise and network wise!

I can only speak for NYC once again, but here it didn't work as well as Sprint's choice to put everything everywhere. T-Mobile's deployment method led to some neighborhoods being under-deployed while others have the "full experience". This is as opposed to Sprint where everywhere I went, I always knew that the site I was connected to had all 3 bands available.

I also don't know if it's fair to say that Sprint didn't deploy based on data. It looks like they simply deployed where it made the most economic sense to invest heavily. That ended up being their largest markets. The unfortunate side effect of this is that if you aren't in a large market the network languished until work was completed in the bigger markets.

There are definitely pros and cons to both styles of deployment. Sprint's biggest issue to me is that they tried a Verizon and AT&T deployment style without Verizon or AT&T money.

Are you suggesting that Sprint was attempting to build a network with champagne taste but on a decidedly beer budget? 😂

  7. Well I guess it isn't actually roaming anymore even if it shows as such as TMobile coverage is now native coverage provided your phone has the necessary bands to latch onto whatever technology those particular towers are broadcasting.

Mine is mere curiosity. I'm willing to send it back, but dunno how to do it.

A well placed baseball bat. That may not exactly return it but it could provide a useful outlet for any pent up boredom and/or aggression due to Covid-19 quarantine.
