  1. Thanks for the tips guys, but neither one works. Volume up + home doesn't produce a screenshot and in the app drawer, tapping menu doesn't give me an option to list alphabetically. : o (

  2. Yeah I got my jelly beab for my e4gt two days ago and it is like a brand new phone. However, I do have at least 3 complaints (bugs): 1.) Taking a screenshot by holding down volume down + power no longer works. Anyone know how to do a screenshot now? 2.) When charging, the red LED indicator no longer glows and 3.) When setting an alarm with the phone on silent, the alarm will not sound. this is very important to me as I nearly overslept for work yesterday! Also, as a less important note, my apps are no longer listed in alphabetical order post update (??)

  3. Yes, in my experience, Amazon always has better pricing than anyone else, including Sprint telesales. For instance, I got my Sprint Galaxy S2 from Amazon at $99 back in the day when everyone else (literally, everyone) was still charging $199 on a renewed two year contract. I told a guy in a local Atlanta Sprint store a few days later about my Amazon deal and he refused to believe me. I simply smiled and walked out of the store, knowing I'd received as a decent a "deal" as I was going to get. Go Amazon!

  4. And as a Christian, I'm grateful to share my birthday with Easter. My favorite holiday of the year. Although, I prefer fried chicken to ham.

I always thought it ironic that we Christians celebrate Easter with ham. Jesus was Hebrew and did not partake in swine. It would be much more appropriate to have lamb. Although, since Jesus is the lamb, that would be like eating the Savior. Hmmm...

Maybe we should just fast for Easter?

    LOL

Thanks for the birthday wishes. You guys are great! It's the sense of community that makes it all worthwhile! I have gained so many friends through S4GRU. I have no idea where all if this goes in the future. But for now I will enjoy the ride.

.....or just have fried chicken (you see, you already answered your own question)! Happy bday/Happy Easter!

  6. Yeah I'm not sure why we are told to be fearful of China and, really, for no good reason. I mean, when's the last time China posed a threat to the United States (aside from with their growing economic prowess, which is a good thing in my mind for global competition and for raising the standard of living within their own nation)?

If it were North Korea, then, ok, maybe I could see that. But I won't just be told to be fearful of one nation by my government and blindly say, "ok, sure, I'll be your lemming." I mean, wtf??

  7. Should you still be receiving the discount? As in, do you still work for the place the discount was coming from? Sprint offers tons of work and membership discounts. Even based on where you bank. Also, if you don't belong to the place that was giving you a discount previously, do you work or belong to any other organization?

That's a very good point - and possibly one I should consider, as well. My employee discount with company X, whom I've not worked for in almost 6 years, is sill on my account. I couldn't tell you why but I've never brought it up as it, too, is valued at over 20% of my monthly bill. But, should it be terminated, I guess I could always explore other discount options.

I would do that..see what other options you have available..ya know, before fully jumping ship. But, like was previously stated, if ATT or whomever works better for you then that's with whom you should do business.

  8. Honestly, here in Atlanta with my Sprint GS2, I've been having trouble with Wimax the past two days as well. My first, knee-jerk reaction thought was that they were decommissioning wimax sites. But, as Sprint has an agreement with Clearwire to keep them going through...what was it..2014? 2015?...then I know it can't be that. But interesting that in wildly differing parts of the country we are experiencing similar issues.

  9. The updates in Atlanta this past week were about tTYwo-thirds 3G, and the last third are new 4G sites around the whole market, but more in the south and southeast of perimeter area than any other area.

thanks for the clarification, Robert. Seems to jibe with what i was thinking. Nice to see Ericsson finally getting that backhaul for enhanced 3g in place. Would be interesting to see what sort of 3g speeds folks are picking up in those areas.
  10. Not so much sites accepted, as updates accepted. I also can't tell where the majority of the updates where, but I'm guess a lot of it was accepting the 3G upgrades on towers that already had 4G LTE. Probably due to the fact that Ericsson is finally getting the supply problem with the 3G network cards fixed.

That's precisely what i was thinking. Thanks for your input. Hopefully Robert can weigh in a bit as well when he gets time. P.s..the fact that Atlanta has so many active 4g towers live that it's hard to tell the old from the new isn't exactly the worst problem to have! : o )

  11. Over 100 accepted sites in Atlanta/Athens? Really? Were most of these sites Where Ericsson added NV 3G to pre-existing LTE sites? Backhaul issues now largely resolved? Because other than that i was just wondering where most of these 100+ newly accepted sites are. Yes, I'm already a sponsor but with Atlanta so already built out, it's difficult to distinguish new sites from old. Thanks.

  12. I have never used wifi @ home simply because my phone either refuses to connect (to any wifi signal, anywhere - both my gs2s have this issue) or, if it does, somehow all other connected devices in the house are booted off the network. So i have never in my life experienced wifi on a phone. True story! P.s. Wimax here in Atlanta is nearly just as fast as our home 15mbps connection so it doesn't affect me anyway but thought I'd share.

  13. Your best bet is calling sprint customer service for this. They can connect you to a dedicated airave "specialist" who will actually be able to help identify your problem. When you call, be sure your call is routed to an airave "specialist." If they cannot help you then there is nothing else you can do. In that case, you'd be best served to simply return the airave, cancel your service and move on to another provider.

  14. Very true.

I heard a great story about how a local town had some new high voltage power lines run by the town's high school. After the lines were installed, the town demanded a meeting with the power company. People, one by one, stood up in the gymnasium speaking about all of the issues that happened to students since the power lines were installed (poor sleep, poor grades, ADHD, blah blah blah).

After everyone was done speaking, a representative from the power company apologized for all of the issues people had but politely explained that while the power lines were installed, they had yet to transmit any power over the lines.

    Absolutely comical.

Ba ha ha ha ha ha! I really, truly am beginning to think that the vast majority of the population (CLEARLY not us! : o ) ) is basic beyond reproach and that there is simply no hope for the human race. *sigh.

  15. Unless you have some abusers on your sector, I would say it is unlikely. But since you are in a launched market, I would call and complain to Sprint and get a ticket opened. Insist on a ticket. That way someone who knows what they're doing will have to investigate your site.

I'm thinking it is backhaul related. If the backhaul is not functioning properly, it may bog down during the day, especially if it came from an ILEC. They can then get the backhaul provider to do what is necessary to meet the contract requirements to fix the problem.

If the airlink is saturated, then Sprint can then identify the abusers and perhaps take actions against them. Because it would be very difficult for the air link in your sector to be saturated yet with normal usage. There are not enough Sprint LTE devices out there yet.

The switching to 3G is likely unrelated. I see in your iPhone signal strength indicator that you have a pretty weak LTE signal. At the edge of service, going in and out of 3G/4G is common. In fact, this probably the reason why your speeds are low. The nearest site to you probably still isn't live with LTE.

Excellent explanation, Robert. Thank you. It helped me, too.
