We'd need to see how the Eero software is configured. It just seems like something isn't right with your setup, and I'm not sure what it is. Can you post the IP addresses of a few devices connected to the switch? Just to make sure that everything is getting a local IP.

I would delete the forwards. What IP are you forwarding them to? Remember the Airave 4 has two IPs, so either way you'd only be able to forward to either CDMA or LTE, not both. They each use an independent ipsec tunnel using ports 500 and 4500. So at best the forwards would only work for one.

Screenshots of the port forward setup  can be seen in the link below.

How can I easily get the IPs of the devices connected to the switch?

    Thank you!

You shouldn't need to port forward. And in fact, you can't with the 4. It's assigned two IP addresses, one for LTE and one for CDMA. Both use all of those ports, and you can only forward to one IP.

I hate that Sprint gave that forwarding advice. It may break other things (53 is DNS and 68 is DHCP). What they meant to say was make sure that those 4 ports aren't blocked outbound on your firewall. Which unless you're on an enterprise, corporate, or public network, they won't be. You would have had to explicitly block them. Outbound on those ports is always allowed by default.

Well I tried @SeanK_ setup and it didn't work. Only WAN stayed green. The closest I've gotten was plugging the A4 before the eero into the switch all lights except for lnet and lte went green. Any suggestions? Should I delete those port forward rules?

That won't work unless he has multiple static IP addresses.

The A4 itself will need 2 IP addresses. One for the CDMA network and one for the LTE network. It needs to be placed behind a router in a typical setup and a CM1200 is not one as it's strictly a D3.1 modem with multiple GBe ports.

The Eero may need to be modified to do port forwarding and in the worst case scenario may need to place the A4 into a DMZ net.

@SeanK_ I did a similar combination before (can't remember which went into the modem first). However, I'll try it again with the A4 plugged in first. Last time, It seemed like the Eero and A4 fought over the internet access because when the internet went down, the A4 started to gain lights (again, everything but Lnet and LTE). @lilotimzAny other suggestions? You mentioned port forwarding or DMZ net?

    My setup:

I placed the modem -> Airave

modem -> eero -> switch -> which has multiple computers/Xbox/Hue hub connected

I had to remove the Airave from the eero network because it wouldn't work, but does work with the modem. I didn't bridge my modem since eero doesn't suppose PPPoE yet.

L-net and LTE never went green. So I can try blocking the Airave from the Eero network?

Could you take a picture of the back of the modem?

What is the modem model again?

    I've attached a picture.

Plug the airave 4 into the switch behind That is connected to the eero.

It's very likely your RCN cable modem router is in bridge mode and passing the single public IP address to the Eero which is doing NAT+DHCP+ routing.

What's likely happening is there is an ip conflict as you likely only have one IP address given to you as part of your residential account hence why when Eero is off then the A4 works.

TLDR: connect the A4 behind the eero so it gets a private ip assignment and not fight over it for the single public ip.

The modem does not have wireless routing capabilities. I rearranged the switch. Now the order goes Airave, Eero, TV and TiVo. It looks like a promising setup as both Eero and TiVo are working along with the MoCA connection for the TiVo Mini. However, while most lights on the Airave are solid green, L-Net and LTE are blinking red. Thank you!

This is what I was trying to mention before, for some reason the eero doesn't play nicely with the Airave at all for some reason and won't allow the device to pass the boot up.

You see the yellow Ethernet ports on the back of the Cable Modem right? Plug the Airave into any port instead and then power cycle the Airave again and or factory reset the thing with a little clip or something and allow it to do its thing, it should now connect.

But now I'm back at the original setup with an unmanaged switch added...Ill try it.

  7. @SeanK_, @ingenium,

Hoping you guys can help. The Airave  is still not working. Even with the unmanaged switch, still can't keep a solid WAN connection. WAN, L-NET and LTE have no lights after a few days of it trying to connect. My setup is Netgear Nighthawk Cable Modem CM1200 into the Eero, Eero in the Netgear S350 unmanaged switch...eero in port 1 followed by tv, airave and tivo. The only thing else that's different is I have a cable split so 1 cable goes into the modem and another goes into an Arris phone modem.

Here is my setup and you'll even see the switch I have. You can get it cheap if its on sale.

Thank you for the pictures I ended up purchasing Netgear GS308.

Just to be clear, you're using a standalone cable modem right? And not a modem/router combo? I ask because if it's a combo, you'll have to do things a bit differently (the Eero would be performing something called double NAT, and this may make the Airave have difficulty connecting).

The easiest way to check is to see if there is only 1 Ethernet port on the modem, or if it has multiple. If there are multiple, then it's a combo. If there's just 1, then it's a standalone modem. You can also Google the model number as well.

I purchased a Netgear Nighthawk Cable Modem CM1200 with multiple Ethernet ports but with only modem capabilities. I thought this would solve my port needs and prevent an unused router interfering with my Chromecasts which happened in the past. However, it seems what I needed was my Eero to have additional ports.

Your ISP only gives you 1 IP, you don't want or need more for this setup. And you would have to move to a business account with your ISP to get more than 1.

Your Eero is acting as the router. So you need something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002HH0W5W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_R2JoDbH4XR552 is fine. Or you can get one with more ports.

Plug that into your Eero, then plug your TiVo and Airave into it as well. It basically expands the number of ports you have. You can get a switch with more ports if you want. Basically any cheap gigabit switch will be fine.

Ok awesome, I'll give it a try. Thank you!

No! Its a eero device issue that's preventing us from connecting. If I use another modem/router combo it connects fine. For some reason the eero isn't allowing the Airave to fully connect for some reason.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_switch

I just got a 4 port one that's Unmanaged by Netgear and it works great!. Just plug power to it and plug the rest of the Ethernet cables to it and it talks to each other.

I appreciate the Wiki link but can you explain the network switch in layman's terms and post a link to what you purchased.

I have the same setup but I have a network switch to expand my network. I ended up having to put the Airave before the eero with my modem and it works without any issues. Try that.

I don't know why it doesn't work within the eero network, even opening ports doesn't work. (I might open a ticket with eero support)

Ok, so stupid questions, what's a network switch, how does it work and how do I set it up exactly? Sorry, I'm new to some of this.

The A4 has 2 MAC address. One for CDMA and one for LTE. I know this because I use it in my office network. All the MAC address has to be whitelisted. The MAC address on the label is only one of it. The other MAC address is either 1 up or 1 down. I don't remember.

So for Airave 4 to work, your modem need to be able to provide 2 IP address to A4. If you plug it directly into a cable modem, it is very likely your ISP doesn't want to supply 2 IP address. So, try to put a router in front of it.

I can't plug the A4 into me Eero because both ports are taken, one to the cable modem and the other to the main tivo in order for my tivo mini to work through moca. Briefly today my A4 seemed to go all green but then my Eero stopped working. How do I get both to work? Any suggestions? Thank you!
