  1. So I ran into a crew working on the tower down here in Alamogordo. They are installing microwave antenna for Sprint for back-haul.They have fiber there already, so what does the microwave add to the mix? are they going to dump the fiber? or is this part of a bigger upgrade?

It seems like sprint is the laying the ground work for LTE plus in alamagordo and Albuquerque.... i have seen zero activity in el paso.... the last activity i have seen was august of last year... Ericsson was converting a legacy site to network vision.

Someone finally laid some sensorly streaks in Roswell

  2. So does anyone know if B41 is showing up in El Paso?

On a side note I had a person drop from my Framily plan. I took it as my son is getting old enough to carry a phone for emergency. I activated an old Samsung Epic that I had (I think I will use the upgrade for an iPhone later). It still connects to the WiMax 4G. Speed sucks (1.5/down .8/up).

I hope this is an indication that I might get B41 at my house when then get to that.

  3. In a city your size, pretty darn good. Probably sooner.

In theory... we are both thinking the same way...now with me only having 3 wimax sites....sprint would have to build b41 on to the network vision sites.. how long does it take sprint to do so.... let's say to at least cover 70% with b41

  4. Link?

also did hear this.... that there's been certain municipalities and districts that they are having trouble negotiating with, but I was also told a significant number of approvals have been granted though in some major cities. Light poles seam to be getting the higher approval rate, building's and other structures seam to be harder to deal with because it requires dealing with the people who own those properties.

  5. A point about backhaul that I'm not sure people are aware of. The fiber used from the cell sites is not routed the same way your home internet would be. In order to get fiber backhaul, the link has to go directly to the switch site, not touching the Internet along the way. Usually that's where the AAVs and LECs come into play, since they have last-mile fiber and can provide point to point connections.

Did anyone hear about sprint getting most of there proposals rejected by city / town for small cells?

  6. Man, even Softbank stock is taking a hit. I guess that's normal, considering they own 83% of Sprint.

Sprint/softbank.... are just taking hits left and right.... most of all markets that are band 25 only are getting 250$ bill credits... you can choose to get it all upfront or spread it around. All these rumors aren't helping them ether.

  7. It's been a week or so since I last had the data issues. I even connected to the second carrier in band 41 and data continued to work fine. Maybe the fix is rolling out?

Have you seen any band 25 on 10×10 bandwidth?

  8. Does Ericsson play any role in optimizing Band 26 as part of its network management contract with Sprint? (Which is set to expire this year after 7 long years):

I believe so ! When i contacted the higher executive team.. they said everything as far as maintenance/optimization is handle by Ericsson still.. on band 25/26.... they contacted Ericsson for me via e mail and that's when i was told that my tower is running optimal. But the tower site has capacity issues and then i got a 250$ bill credit.

  9. If you have half decent Band 25, it could be possible that your Band 26 might not be much better. The band 26 might be optimized to fill in a dark hole that is more important than your particular home. Band 26 can also be optimized to reach out further than the band 25 will.

The only thing positive that i take from this is. That El paso is about 97% converted to network vision sites. I thing i found only 3 towers that are legacy only.

  10. Pretty much anyones best guess, there are some very plausible educated guesses on here but none of them are fact because nobody has actually heard anything from the horses mouth about it really.

Unfortunately if optimized low band spectrum is a priority for ones self then moving to a carrier that has it is the best solution, like I wound up doing after being patient for a year.

Who did you end up picking?

  11. I don't think you're gonna see any improvement if it's already at -91 outdoors and -105 or so indoors on B25 at 1 mile. You should be hanging onto LTE at a bit weaker than -108 though, at the very least -118 and weaker than that even.

So i will see around the same with band 26 and won't get a speed increase until band 41 gets here
