  1. Many years ago we worried about reception on devices a lot more.

    Some devices just plain had poor reception, others could leap a deadspot easily.

    An6 opinions among the smartphone contenders as to which Sprint Phones and Smart Phones have the best reception?

  2. Windows Phones are great and do provide a great alternative to BlackBerry, IOS, and Android. I would really like to have a Flagship windows Phone like the Lumia 1520 or 1020 on Sprint. My only concern is that Sprint won't give Windows Phone the proper support with WiFi calling, Windows10 Updates etc...and the the devices will be poorly tuned for CDMA.

  3. Use Port 4500. Definitely is 4500. I know by experience because the ASUS routers Sprint sends out slow all other Port 4500 traffic to a standstill in order to give priority to WiFi calling.

    Anyway I would most likely start by setting Port 4500 to the Highest QOS Priority you have.

    Additional settings beloe:

    • 500,4500,5060,5061,52000:59999 for WiFi Calling.
    • 53,67,68,500,4500 for an Airvanna (if you have on connected to your router as well.

    The below details are just a summary of my research. Please let me know if you agree with my conclusions.

    • Port 444 is for emergency 911.
    • WiFi calling Gateway: IP Address: 68.31.26.1 Host of this IP: 68-31-26-1.pools.spcsdns.net

    There seems to be a consensus of sorts that you may want to also do some of the AIRRAVE QOS ports as well likethe following from T-mobile as well.

    Enter the following two rules giving them a meaningful name like "WiFi Calling", enter the MAC for your phone, enter at least 85% of your available bandwidth (e.g 0-42500 if your maximum transfer rate is 50 Meg), the highest priority and:
    Rule 1: Destination port "4500" Protocol "UDP"
    Rule 2: Destination port "5060, 5061" Protocol "TCP"  lso 52000 to 59999.

    Sprint also details additional ports for the Airvanna and Airrave.

    If your AIRAVE cannot connect to the Sprint network due to a unique network configuration, you may need to open the following UDP ports on your switch or router that the AIRAVE is connected behind:

    • Airave (Airave 1.0 Samsung) ports are: 53, 500, 4500, and 52428
    • Airave Access Point (Airave 2.0 Airvana) ports are: 53, 67, 68, 500, and 4500

  4. Sprint tweeted awhile ago about an outage in OH, IL, IN and MI if I recall... Should be resolved now though...

At least in our Samsung Market and a few other Samsung Markets I have tested in, there is no difference currently.  Initially there was a difference, and in the future Sprint may support more B41 channels than will support Carrier Aggregation.  Thus best to retain the distinction for now until we know more.  The key item is knowing which earfcn it is using for both channels to help figure out how Sprint is using the spectrum (requires using debug/engineering screens on most phones using Android).

    If Signal Check Pro what would show Carrier Aggregation what would it look like? Sometimes i see 1xRtt and LTE on the screen at the same time.

  6. I hope this means more roaming and more services while roaming. I don't think the other carriers always tell you when you are roaming. They make the roaming network look like their native network on your phone. The only way to check is to mis-dial a GSM feature code and listen for the Carrier's name in the message.

     

    I hope "Roaming +" is T-Mobile roaming and/or larger allotments of VZW Roaming and Data and more aggressive roaming PRL's.

     

    The + actually looks like a small t.

     

    Happy for the mid-western folks if this helps them out.

  7. What is everyone's take on this? Some of is said seems plausible such as in 2018 when Softbank may try and merge Sprint and T-Mobile again but what I disagree with is with Softbank purchasing more Sprint shares to squash concerns about Sprints future.

    Sprint will always have a AAA+ rating in my mind even if they get downgraded to BBB-.

  8. How is Sprint in Lancaster and the Poconos?

    Lancaster is good. No problems at all if you are just passing through.

    For those of us who live here the coverage is spread way to thin. We should have about 50% more towers.

    Even though we are not the densest area but we do have a nice spread of the old 3G 1900mhz towers upgraded to eHRPD. In the city you will get LTE.

    In the countryside there a few small spots of LTE 1900, an occaisonal 2.5GHZ transmitter and some SMR 800.

    Voice and Text should work most places with the occasional Verizon Roaming in a building or deadspot. 

     

    Somebody else can tell you about the Poconos. I expect you would at least have Verizon Roaming if nothing else.

  9. Hey I am looking to configure QOS for WiFi Calling on my router.

    I have been scouring the internet. Some of the setting below look like Airrave stuff.

    What do I need for WiFi Calling QOS and Port Forwarding?

     

     

    So far I have the following info:

     

    Port 4500 is used.

    Port 444 is for emergency 911.

     

    Here is the WiFi calling Gateway I found.

  10. Im gonna have to agree with ATT here, Verizon is definitely being overzealous pushing vaporware..

    AT&T lagged behind Verizon pushing out 3G. They seem to be like let's see what everybody else is going to, then they pull the plug and deploy it everywhere in 6 months or some ridiculously fast time schedule and catch up to everybody else.

  11. Sprint needs to hire the Verizon Test guy....he could announce new markets as they get rolled out with Spark. "Today I am in the Big Apple where every Subway Station has Sprint signal" or today I am testing in such and such a market with some cultural references...

    Then end each commercial with that 3D Sprint Network infographic.
