  1. Hey guys,

Sad to say I moved on to ATT this past weekend to get the Galaxy Note 3. Had an opportunity to cut my bill down by joining the family and been drooling over the phone for a while now.

Thanks for all the great info and I will be sure to check in to see how Orlando is developing. I may be back in two years :)

Wishing you all a speedy LTE rollout!

  2. Add my vote in favor of the Victory. I know three people (two immediate family members) who have them and they're solid phones. Nothing amazing, but solid nonetheless. Head and shoulders better than the Viper. And the S III battery and its battery are interchangeable (found this out last night).

The new LG Optimus F3 might work as well, but I don't have any experience with that phone.

Thanks! Going to pick up a Victory for $50 off Craigslist. Seems like a solid deal based on your comments.

  3. Awesome to hear.  The 3000 maH battery should be a beast.

Also I read this on XDA developers of someone who compared the G2 vs. GS4 camera. Lets just say he was impressed with the G2 camera.

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45622779&postcount=43

When you click on the Flicker link, the lower left corner shows the phone source between GS4 and G2 when you click for each pic.  The only thing is in low light, the GS4 pics appear to look better than the G2 pics.

This is a good comparison. To me, it looks like the GS4 wins when flash is needed. But the G2 blows the GS4 out of the water with granularity when there is no flash.

  4. Sounds like its a better deal financially to join your family in the AT&T family plan and get LTE coverage now. In 2 years the sprint LTE network will be in great shape.

Thanks! Im also holding out for the Nexus 5 lol. If I decide to stick with Sprint, I would go for the G2 and keep an eye out for the Nexus 5. Wouldn't get the Note 3 since it plans to not be Tri Band.

  5. And u dont mind that the note 3 is single band LTE?

Herein lies the catch lol. I may be switching to AT&T to get the Note 3... Did some math and I will end up paying less by joining my families AT&T plan than staying solo on Sprint. Plus it would be 10GB of data shared by 3 people, one of which who uses less than 1GB per month.

So although I follow this site religiously, it might make sense for me to move on to AT&T. But I may be back in two years when Sprint starts beating everyone in the LTE game lol.

Between the phone offerings and deciding on a carrier, this has been the hardest phone upgrade decision i have ever had to make lol.

  6. The Note 3 isn't really that much bigger and feels way nicer in hand and looks better in my opinion. I've played with both, the Verizon G2 though.

This message brought to you in part by Sprint and the letters GS and the number 4

Good to know, thanks. Im going to wait until the Note 3 is actually available in stores to play with before making a decision. The G2 just had quick animations and that IPS display looked really sharp. I doubt it would have the outdoor readability issues i heard the Note 2 had.

  7. Went to AT&T today to play with the G2. It is an awesome looking phone and super snappy, couldn't believe it. Was right next to the Note 2 and saw a huge contrast in screen brightness and clarity. I know the Note 3 will have an increased resolution, but this thing looked good.

Im 50/50 now with this and the Note3 mainly because I am worried about the size being too large. Hard decisions means there are good choices out there!

  8. Who knows why shamesung decided to release the note 3 with single band lte. Its not shamesungs responsibility to ensure proper sprint network management. B26 and B41 are unique LTE band for sprint so maybe shamesung thought they didnt think it was worth the cost because of the demand.

Join the anti-Note 3 club. I am going to get the LG G2 phone now.

  9. We should have a social media campaign and get every member to post the article to their site(s) of choice. With six degrees of separation we can make some noise.

    You got it!

  10. I just don't get why Sprint has been so delayed on their phone releases? G2 & Note 3 have already been announced with release date for the other carriers.

Is Sprint historically slow on releasing devices compared to the other US carriers?

  11. If it's in the background and you can't view it because you are looking at another screen, what is the point of YouTube playing in the background?

My main reason is that I watch a lot of phone reviews. I am interested in seeing parts of it but other parts I already know. So most of the time I just want to hear the viewers perspective. On 10-15 minute videos I would just like to be able to jump out of the video, continue to listen while I browse the web, then jump back in when I want to.

  12. I noticed here in St Augustine I would roam for a couple of days off and on right before a tower got upgraded. Hopefully that means the Town Center area will be up soon. That's usually where my wife and I end up whenever we take a trip up to Jacksonville, so it will be a welcomed upgrade. St Augustine just has a couple of towers left that need to be upgraded. I think the most needed is the one right on the downtown historic district. After that, I just want to see some band 26 love.

Without me reading the 50 pages of this forum, how is LTE up in St. Augustine / JAX? I travel up there about once a month for work, but with out an LTE phone I haven't had a chance to test.

  13. Um I think I am pretty much set on the LG G2.  The more I read about it the more I like it.  All the blogs say that the 3000 maH battery holds itself pretty well with heavy use.  The Nexus 5 is probably my backup option now that I think about it more since the HTC One Max is going to be too big for my liking even if its triband LTE.

However that 2300 maH battery on the Nexus 5 is a bit disappointing and even though it is stock Android some of the features like remote control (LG smart remote), multitasking (Samsung multiwindow, LG Qslide), the camera (not sure if it will have OIS feature), other LG software specific features, etc will be missing on stock Android for Nexus 5.  Besides if the bootloader is not locked on the LG G2, there will always be a developer community that is dedicated to bringing CM ROMs that are stock Android to the device so I am not too worried about that.  So because of these things, I am kinda leaning towards the LG G2 as the smartphone that has the right package for me and the best of both worlds.

Sounds like you have got yourself convinced. Just stop reading all these forums and pick one up :P

  14. HAHA so you are as much as of a nerd as I am.  I was watching like any LG indepth review as I can and I even rewatched the LG G2 event on Youtube again.

Haha, I know I have been watching your posts to see what you are going to do. I'm in the same boat as you.. was ready for the Note 3 but can't make myself pull the trigger without it TriBand.

I'm sure people have seen my other posts that I haven't been happy with Sprint's 3G service and have thought about jumping ship. Today I did a whole analysis with AT&T price comparisons by leaving my individual Sprint plan and joining back with my parents/brother on AT&T just to get the Note 3 with solid LTE coverage. I just hate limiting data, even if it will end up being cheaper than Sprint for me.

This phone, the G2, is the latest one that has my attention since I am pretty sure 2600MHz is rolling out in Tampa and 800 & 2600 will likely roll out in my home town of Orlando.

It's a tough road and I suck with decision making lol.

  15. Man, this thing is getting GREAT reviews. I spent this evening watching 4-5 in depth reviews and they all recommended this phone. Great camera, great battery life, snappy, and the LG skin isn't 'that bad'.

This very well could be the go-to phone for S4GRU since it is the only one with Tri-Band.

Coming from a 32GB iPhone, I no issues with a fixed battery and no SD card. Was leaning on the Note 3, but only way I'll get that now is if I switch to AT&T.

  16. Can you rephrase your question a little bit? What do you mean "will those still play"?

I can't remember off the top of my head, but from what I know, you can pause the youtube video or HTML 5 video from a browser, hit home, and then when you go back, you can unpause the video from where you left off.

Or do you mean, will the video still play in the background, even though you hit the home button (sound only since the screen is obviously taken up by the home screen)? I also can't remember off the top of my head, and since I my memory has it both working and not working my memory is obviously fuzzy and I don't know which is the truth . I might try it later to see.

Sorry, should have worded it better. Will the sound still come through, even though you are viewing your home screen (or any other app for that matter).

  17. Since we don't know what KitKat (Android 4.4) will bring to the table, we really don't know if they'll have an equivalent to MultiWindow/QSlide or not. I've never seriously used the MultiWindow feature on my Galaxy S3, so I actually have no desire for it on something like stock Android. If you really need such a feature, just get a G2 or wait for a galaxy S 5 or the Note 3 to come out. I highly doubt they'll implement something like that on stock Android for now, though quick toggles became a native Android feature as of 4.2, so you never know until it's out.

That answers my question, thanks so much!

Not sure if I would use it either, but was just curious. How about videos or YouTube.. will those still play on stock Android if you start it then hit the home button? Probably my biggest pet peeves about iOS.

Oh and I apologize for the 'newbish' questions here, ya'll just know what you are talking about so I like to use S4GRU as much as possible lol.

  18. Does any one know what bands we are planned to be here in Orlando or what have already rolled out in Melbourne/Orlando?

After hearing about the Tri and Dual band devices, I am curious to know what we will be getting. Am I correct in thinking they are rolling out the 1900 MHz spectrum now and likely the 2600MHz since we had Wimax here?

  19. Does native Android, such that this device would be running, have a good way of multitasking?

Haven't been on Android for two years so wanted to see what multitasking, if any, are available. In terms of multitasking, I am referring to the G2's Qslide and Galaxy Multiwindow.

    Thanks!

  20. that is what I said.  Its hard to understand what Samsung is doing.  If the HTC One Max is triband LTE I really have to question Samsung and Sprint's thinking in making a single band LTE device like this at this point.  I highly doubt its because Sprint thought users of the Note 3 would prefer SVLTE over triband LTE.  I wish the mass amount of Sprint customers understood what triband LTE meant and how much of a bummer it is of the lack of support for it.  Why the GS4 mini got triband and not the Note 3 we will never know.

Are we giving up hope already? lol

Really will be a bummer and have a huge impact on my decision.

  21. Hmm I have a very tough decision right now. I was pretty gunho about the Note 3 but if it is this P variant, I may have to consider an alternative because I really don't want that single band LTE.

Right there with you.. Keeping this thread close
