Have you seen the new towers that are going up around town? I don't know if it was an anomaly but I was playing with CDMA field test and I was connecting to 1 of the brand new towers down by 22nd and Avenue C. The panels on that new tower look nothing like to sprint panels they use, so I'm thinking it was only a fluke; but I tried it many times and many times CDMA field test pinpoint it that same tower

I don't get intoYuma "proper" all that much. I saw a brand new tower go up (no idea which carrier) by about mile 11 marker off I-8. It's just north of the interstate, in (or just off) a storage facility (i think) near there.

I dont think that tower is new. its been their for a while now. There was a new tower put in on north frontage between the seasons and foothills bvld

Really, I know I'm starting to get old, but can't believe I been driving by there almost everyday now for over a year and never noticed it. Shows you how observant I am (or not) :o)

I don't think Sprint is adding any more towers to our area, but Robert might have more info on that.

Is Network Vision just an overhaul of what is currently in place.

I get the sense that Sprint is doing work on the network out here. I know the snowbirds have started rolling out here, but I don't remember the network being this bad this time last year.

  4. Here's a pic. Looks like its a small outbuilding next to it. The structure looks like its been there for awhile, I've just never noticed it. The tower is new, however, it does not have any panels on it yet.

  5. That sux. I just noticed on Network.Sprint.com that one of the towers that was slated for some upgrades has been taken off from the website. I wonder what happened??? Things are just going to get worst. Snowbirds are here and still coming so the network is going to suffer more for all up on the foothills.

I was over at the Air Station today where I usually get great signal. Was barely pulling 2 bars and not even 3g, dreaded 1x.

  6. Speaking of Telegraph pass, any of you hiked up it...I did last year, was a unit thing before we deployed to Afghanistan. It's not my definition of fun...got to he a brave soul to even drive up there to service those cell sites.

    A little more in topic...

I work over on the small Marine base, P111, down off Araby and County 14 (not the air station). I get great signal there, but recently moved into a new building. It must be the black hole for signals cause I get none whatsoever. Walk 5 ft down the hall...bam full bars. Go back, nothing.

Any tips, I hate to drop a couple hundred bucks on a repeater. Tried some market apps that claim to boost signal strength, but no luck.

  7. Yup, most of the stuff south of I-8 are RV parks and mobile home parks. I live on the north side in Mesa Del Sol, mostly single family homes there.

Speaking of snow birds, they will be here in force in about a month!

  8. FanOfSkynyrd; hang in there, we are starting to s see some improvements in the area, I've been keeping track and constantly monitor speeds around town. Just remember that just like a vehicle, you can't change the oil and give it maintenance while its running. Same applies to cell towers, so if you are experiencing some severe outages or severe internet speeds, it might be that the towers are being maintained or upgraded. I'm starting to see some progress at network.sprint.com. You can also keep track and trace progress there.

    We all feel the frustration.

Edit: areas that have significantly improved (take significantly with grain of salt; that just means it is way better than what it was) are the areas of Yuma Palms, MCAS, Airport, Somerton AZ, Ave B North East of 20th street, Down Town Yuma by the court house. I get download speeds from around 2 or 300kbps up to 1200 kbps depending on the time of day.

I get pretty good speeds (200-400kbps do / 300-500kbps ul) in town. My main concern is out where I live in the Foothills. I'm off exit 12, speeds really stink out here. I've checked network vision and it doesn't show any new cell towers going in. I've seen one new tower go in out here but I suspect its Verizon or ATT since no noticeable change in coverage.

I understand your frustrations. But please be patient with Sprint. My data speeds in Nevada suck really bad too, not to mention my signal is almost useless, so there have been times I felt like leaving too, but this site gives me hope.

I can hold out, we've been with Sprint from almost 12 years, started out back with Nextel. They've always done me right so I'll just hold out hope the rollout occurs sooner rather than later.

  10. New member also from Yuma area...frustrated with Sprints speeds here. Speeds are like dial up, worse sometimes. I live in the Foothills,, coverage was so bad had to get an Airave (for free) just so I could use my phone at home.

I know its been said Yuma will get upgraded with Phoenix/Tucson markets but does anyone really think that will happen? What's to say they just upgrade Phoenix and leave Yuma out in the cold (so to speak since its definitely not cold here).

I've been with Sprint for almost 12 years, don't want toswitch carriers, but if they don't get their act together by next summer when my contract is up I'm switching.
