  1. We've been spoiled this summer. This was probably one of the few days that it hit the 90's.
  2. We had some of both. Lot of rain in general, but some storms too. Still, they were probably able to get some work done on the ground. Climbing on the towers I could see them coming back to those towers when it wasn't windy or as wet.
  3. I would think they'd work through a lot of the rain, if possible. I'm going to assume that a lot of contractors don't get paid for weather problems.
  4. I know totally different markets, but it sucks seeing all the work happening in Lexington right now, and even seeing all the towers being completed in Cleveland area. And yeah, stuff will start launching soon here and when they start, it'll spread pretty quickly. Since the one launched a couple weeks ago with nothing much since, just seems like they haven't been doing anything for two weeks. Even though I know that's not the case.
  5. The speeds there are generally very good. Usually between 1-2 Mbps. Drive down to Morrison Rd during work hours and enjoy the 500 ms ping with .1-.2 Mbps speeds. That's what I have every day at work. Fortunately I have wifi at work. They'll fix that soon, but there's a lot of people in the corporate offices there.
  6. I think a lot of sites have already had work done.. Like I've said, most of Reynoldsburg's towers seem greatly improved on 3G. I'm guessing they're just waiting on the Sprint inspections. I doubt that Nextel being turned off helped out this much with my speeds, as I would assume that Nextel equipment had a separate network connection from the Sprint cabinets?
  7. No worries, I live a few minutes from those towers so wanted to go run some tests to see how fast the towers were. Oh well.
  8. Tower pictures so we can see what's going on. First is the tower on Taylor near New Albany Rey oldsburg Rd and then there's the cabinets. I think the Sprint cabinets may have been on the right side and obscured but I guess I was worried about someone calling the cops so I didn't get out of my car and run over there to see. http://i.imgur.com/JciINPS.jpg http://i.imgur.com/rqpuisq.jpg These last two are on Morrison Rd and are right next to each other so I'm not sure offhand which is which. I'm guessing the latter contains Sprint stuff. http://i.imgur.com/TugAmgV.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jEE2r5s.jpg
  9. No LTE for me on either tower above. Did airplane mode and got nothing. Could have been testing earlier or a Nexus issue.
  10. Serving cell on iPhone can be found on field test screen, correct? If I find LTE, I'll have to do a google maps screenshot and then I'll run a speed test and get a screenshot of the field test screen. Leaving in a few, I'm curious and it's only 5 min away.
  11. I don't know about the former but the latter may make some sense. Didn't show up on thenight1984 list but it could be testing or an early launch. I may go check that one out later. I've toggled airplane mode there many times over the last week or so and didn't pick it up previously. But I didn't check today on the way home.
  12. I was on that one yesterday for part of the day and it's definitely faster. I used to never be able to stream Google Music off that tower and now I can easily.
  13. Easy there. It's getting better around the city and it's going to get better in Pickerington too. 800 is probably going to help substantially there where towers seem to be spaced too far apart.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if some 3G upgrades in Reynoldsburg have already taken place. I streamed Google Music a little bit ago across several towers in town where it previously buffered horribly. No buffering, instant load. Was nice.
  15. That is surprising to me, but I'll take it. Surprising as it's one of the ones that has antennas on top of a high voltage utility tower. I figured it would be a lower priority due to that.
  16. It definitely had fiber run to it, though I would be assuming that where they ran it from was connected in the first place. Seemed like there was a junction box there and then they only had to run it about 20-30 feet to the gate where the cabinets are. I haven't been by it recently to see if new cabinets are there or if it has ethernet yet.
  17. Is the one on Taylor Rd in Gahanna part of the 30 LTE sites? Also curious about the one on Lancaster Ave in Reynoldsburg. Both outside the outerbelt. The latter has backhaul there, I believe. The former has been having a lot of utility work around it, and I'm thinking it at least has backhaul to the street available. Not sure if they've run yet to the tower.
  18. Goes back to my question earlier.. If backhaul was ready, they'd be launching LTE at the same time. So if 200 3G upgrades are scheduled, and only around 30 LTE (all outside of the outerbelt), then they must be having backhaul delays. I understand launching 3G in pockets. I don't understand why they wouldn't launch LTE at the same time if backhaul was ready at the site.
  19. 200 sites? Wow. That has to cover quite a bit of the total sites in the market. Sounds like back haul is pretty behind if they're mainly doing 3G upgrades. Will be cool to see another LTE site go live. I'm wondering if the site on Taylor Rd in Gahanna will be one of them. Lot of work going on in that area lately.

  21. That seems like a pretty strong signal from that far away. If it is the one on Morse and Tamarack, that's impressive.
  22. I'm assuming Sprint is seeing how that one tower is doing for a week or so and making adjustments and then they'll start finishing more? Or do they do them as soon as they have contractors available? Because I would think whoever did the last piece on that one would move on to the next.
