Someone thought they saw LTE, but I went over there and saw nothing. They could have been testing it, but I didn't see anyone at the site working on anything.
The person that posted that only has one post on this site, so I'm not sure if they're checking this regularly and they didn't give much info. I'm guessing it was near the intersection of 37 and Granville St/Raccoon Valley Rd.
Speeds probably pretty slow as it looks like on Sensorly, the LTE signal is pretty weak there. Note that your signal strength in that screenshot is of the 1X site you are also connected to, and does not represent your LTE signal strength.
Pretty much what everyone knew, but lends some credence when a mainstream outlet is reporting it. Basically, backhaul is taking longer than they thought, rebuilding an entire network takes time, etc.
If the second level guys gave you that info I'd put a lot more stock in it. I hope it's true! I'm just skeptical of timetables anyone gives me, anywhere. Would it make sense for all those towers to go down at once for normal maintenance, of course not.. But it's Sprint and their aging equipment.
When they say it gets worse before it gets better, that definitely applies here. I wonder when they told you full service by 2 PM today if that's just normal maintenance or NV upgrades. Guess we'll see. I still wouldn't count on that 2 PM time being 100% correct. Things get delayed.
Was going to ask that too. Either way, sounds like things are going to really start picking up. Decent amount of sites with backhaul ready and a lot more coming. That's good stuff there.
Gotcha.
Could backhaul being put in relate in any way to them re-running some form of power lines on the telephone poles? Because the tower in Gahanna off Taylor Rd near New Albany/Reyn Rd has had workers on New Albany Rd now working on various things for weeks. Yesterday and today saw what look like oil rigs drilling in two separate places a few hundred yards apart, then see spools of wire and guys up in cherry pickers at the telephone poles.
I took pictures if that helps.
You could call and open a ticket. Worst case is they tell you they're working on it and it'll be done in a couple days.
Heard from a coworker the other day that he's been seeing roaming some in Columbus. That's unheard of for me. I told him they're likely doing work in those areas. I'm not sure where it was but I know he lives near Polaris.
