  1. For some reason the spectrum map cuts out on the left side. I've tried reducing the text size in Chrome, but didn't work. I'll try the device settings. That didn't work either. I'm still using the ZTE ZMAX.
  2. I've been intending to ask for this for quite some time, but I've been neglecting to do so until I figured out how to present this. The information is mainly about Sprint, though it might be interesting to know what other carriers have, for comparative reasons. Alright, what I'm asking for, which is a benefit to everyone wanting to know about spectrum holdings belonging to Sprint, and other carriers perhaps, is a list of spectrum holdings by market in the form of downlink by uplink, either #x# or #+#. Please list them according to band in MHZ, not by band number. It'll be easier for people who are less experienced in wireless knowledge to understand, without having to search for exact band information.
  3. Sounds like a good idea to me too. I was very disappointed when Amazon removed the possibility to download videos, which now can only be streamed. So now anyone who wants to watch Amazon videos away from WiFi only has the option to stream using cellular. Hopefully that will change too.
  4. By the way, if anyone wants to know specific websites I read, although I've answered this in the past, I'll mention it again. My method of learning about wireless technology and carrier development is by going to Google search and searching news for it. Carriers, for example, I start first searching information for Sprint, although that is after I've already visited S4GRU. Then I search Verizon, followed by AT&T, and finally T-Mobile, though its between that and visiting TmoNews, which I'm trying to break away from for reasons AJ has pointed out in the past very well concerning its writer, Cam Bunton. The writing and advertising there have worsened the site. I'd visit T4GRU more often if there was more daily content to read. Now before getting attacked or criticized for that being my only connection to technology, I will never have any opportunity to have a job in technology, wireless, etc., because I have a severe neuroathic illness which has me unable to live any sort of "normal" life, along with being in near chronic pain and on pain medications which would have any employer nervous about hiring me. Then there are a bunch of other details that basically lead me to not having a life, things I cannot do anything about, but I'm not going to go into here. If you want, pm to me and I'll share some info, along with my media stuff from some years ago. Otherwise, I'm basically just someone here posting opinion and my own ideas, not trying to prove anything with inside fact or something expecting verification regarding technology.
  5. What I wrote are based from my opinions, which are based from my observations of things, such as reading different tech websites. I wasn't reporting any specific news in my post. Otherwise, I'd post a link.
  6. I think the 2k screens currently on smartphones are probably going to provide the max benefit of conventional video/display usage, especially on current battery states of 3000 to 4000. I doubt much heavier batteries are going to be used on smartphone devices, instead more efficient usage technologies in place to make battery life on 4k devices sufficient, meaning smartphones. So despite my not thinking 4k is going to do much more visually for typical usage of smartphones, I'm seeing it happen more for the benefit of VR headset technology where 4k smartphones can be used, and in those cases, 4k will be more helpful to have than 2k. Yet, 4k likely will be the max for that, at least for a very long time.
  7. They are too busy admiring and worshipping their C.E.O. and making sure they've bashed Sprint somehow at least once per day.
  8. I should have added something to my mention of the MVNO part, when I said people might leave for an MVNO. I'm only referring for the wireless voice service, not the data. MVNO rates for data certainly are quite a bit higher than the carriers on any higher level data package. My opinion is that people who need unlimited at a reasonable rate, those unwilling to pay current per GB data rates , likely would restructure the process of using data by preparing their device with whatever they need for while they are away from WiFi, by downloading content in advance. Sure it can be a hassle, unlike streaming, but its either that or pay higher rates. If there are a lot of people deciding the extra effort is worth it, carriers might lose enough customers to where they'll bring back unlimited data at a price that will be satisfactory enough to not completely lose these customers, or they will lower the per GB data rate. I tried looking at some of Sprint's per GB plans a moment ago, but the some of the sections there are being updated. However, a list of the business share plans were visible. Sprint has a plan with 40gb for $135, which is only $15 over the equivalent rate of $3 per GB. I think that is a pretty good deal which quite a lot of unlimited data users would go for, and it includes tethering. If only that plan were available for consumers. Regarding 4k, if the carriers wish to block it, they will. I suppose we'll see if they do, and how consumers will respond to that. If it helps any, I have no desire to use 4k with wireless service, though I want a device with a 4k display that will be used for VR, like in the Samsung Galaxy VR.
  9. Very true. There are things like land reviews to make sure of safety codes, etc., and then going through other ordinances and often times stubborn board members who make even the harshest website administrators look like guardian angels. Both organizational and public boards can be especially cruel and do not discriminate on who is the receiver of that. I imagine any business seeking approval from these boarfds must go through intense scrutiny from these board members and even local residents. It is something I'm even guilty of, as I remember hassling an AT&T representative at a condominium complex meeting back in the very early 2000s, when I knew hardly anything about wireless, but was worried about all the news reports at the time about rf and the " cancer link". I do regret that now though and have since I started reading about wireless back in 2005.
  10. Carriers must have compatibility with devices also, vice versa, in agreements between carriers and the device manufacturers.
  11. Again, I am not saying anyone needs 4k. I know many of my posts are long, but I've made a good effort here lately to post no more than two or three medium length paragraphs. Many of my posts lately only being one medium length paragraph, which I can tell when they are being read now by the responses and the likes I receive in the notifications area. However, some of you are misreading what I'm saying. I'm not even advocating people watch 4k on their devices. The fact is that many people are going to do it no matter what anyone, including people on S4GRU have to say about it. Also, if the carriers currently offering unlimited remove unlimited and start charging over $5 per GB, many of these customers will leave for cheap MVNO Voice service along with buying tablets they can download 4k on using unlimited WiFi. While many here will be thrilled by that, these carriers won't want to lose that business. So, they'll either keep unlimited plans as is (or possibly raise the rate slightly), or they will go to a less expensive per GB data rate model of around $2 to $3 per GB, though I'm not discounting the possibility of it starting off at $5 per GB.
  12. I agree that it doesn't mean their market is complete, though I believe those who give more detail to their complaints of slow speed. For instance, those who give reports about the areas they are experiencing this, along with the name of town, etc., information where I can verify further details of it by reading updates here on S4GRU. On a side note, taking into consideration the need for Robert to keep S4GRU as an enthusiast private club-like website, rather than have this site be a mainstream Sprint information site completely open to the public, while I completely understand why this the case, I think there is a lot here that would be a great benefit to Sprint's reputation and would help people who don't necessarily search out for this site while only relying on the official Sprint site for information about Sprint.
  13. Your experience with Sprint sounds pretty much exactly like what I see written about on the least biased of the wireless articles' comment sections and from comments on Sprint's Facebook page, of course putting aside the biased pro T-Mobile comments. I'm far from being any kind of expert on Sprint, so I don't know why this is going on, even in plenty of developed Spark areas, technically speaking. I would like to know why some people still are having these speed problems though its not a if the question hasn't already been asked before. Usually the typical response on the various sites is from people who basically ignore the question and comment rather about how their speeds are perfectly fine, which certainly doesn't really help the people asking the question.
  14. Your second paragraph here echoes exactly what I've been thinking in regards of Sprint's financial position in this auction, among other network improvements. There are many people who claim Sprint doesn't have the money to purchase spectrum, while repeating what they've read in biased articles also claiming Sprint is headed towards bankruptcy, meanwhile ignoring the vast fortunes of Softbank where there is plenty of cash to fund Sprint through this auction and their network improvements, etc., and even shield Sprint from any such possibility of bankruptcy. However, if Softbank doesn't do this, then that ought to be a sign of some level of disconnect between the two companies. Although I don't say this against Sprint in any way. I believe that if Softbank does have a change of plans regarding Sprint, it'll end up being purchased by a company which does care for it, something I do hope Softbank still cares and funds for Sprint, and comes through with financial support which will not only help Sprint, but also to end any doubt about Softbank's continued interest in Sprint.
  15. Yes indeed, though hopefully it won't be that restrictive.
  16. There does seem to be a lot of back and forth confusion with what Sprint is saying and doing, which can't be good for its reputation and the perception many of its doubters have. Hopefully Sprint will clear this up soon.
  17. Robert, quick mention here, then I'll move on, though I deserve this chance to respond. I've said many many times in my so-called "whining" which is a particular unfair statement to make, particularly from an Admin (I say this from experience being a former Admin myself, remember), I've never complained here in any way about people attacking my ideas. Otherwise, I'd agree with most everything you've said here, and I do agree with you if a person were to do as you are falsely claiming I did. Again, my complaints were regarding people attacking my writing style, not my content. I've been very open to discussion, even debates over that content, just not my writing style. Now I have no further need to discuss this, and I agree such issues don't make the forum look good on either side. However, if someone does attack my writing style again, I will complain about it. If you want to ban me, then go ahead. I know I've been fair to people here, and I respect disagreement over things that matter here, which is content. I know I'm right about this and is proven by my fairness and the fact I haven't been hostile towards anyone. Despite this though, I still think this is a good site, and as long as I'm here, I'll remain respectful of others. I'm only expecting the same in return.
  18. Fair enough. I gave up on the thread trying to connect congestion with speed caps, as a person who responded to it had some good points. Besides, it wasn't something I felt strongly about as a point I could prove. It just was an idea I got from reading comments on various wireless news articles where people mentioned the idea and I went along with it. Regarding the per GB prices, currently it would be a major drop down to $2 to $3 per GB, which very likely won't happen for quite some time, just as unlimited likely will be around for awhile. Although when unlimited does go away, I don't perceive current rates for per GB data is going to be affordable for many moderate to heavy data users, which despite low data users being the average data use, those data numbers will increase as more heavy data applications, etc become available.
  19. Hi dedub, I like many of your posts and while I agree with you that people don't need 4k on their wireless device, many people will want it, partly because many of those who have 4k televisions and such will have an expectation for it on their wireless device, as with most new technology becoming mainstream in demand. Once that demand is met by device manufacturers, it will be the responsibility of the carriers to have networks that provide well enough for it, based on that demand.
  20. It matters because they are part of this site where people are here to discuss and debate wireless information, along with positive things like learning and sharing information. Negative stuff like attacking and criticizing writing style is insulting to the receiver, and is borderline bullying, which in cased of repeated action, is bullying. Ultimately though, it is the staff's responsibity to moderate this kind of behavior based on set rules. Those rules are set by the staff and can have a major impact not only to the site, but to those who participate on the site. As most people here have good intentions, its important to keep the peace those good intentions create. When negative stuff gets posted, it causes a disturbance to that peace, and should be dealt with, in order to protect both the site and the people on it.
  21. I'd imagine, or at least hope that if/when pcell is available, there would be enough of an advantage to it, besides just technically, but also financially, to where enough backhaul could be implemented to support the technical advantages to pcell. Although with the current cell technologies, there certainly are many problems to tethering on a moderate to massive scale.
