  1. Can you send me the link to see the information about Hayward Ca? I donated already.

Check the Sponsor forums NV Site Completed thread and look at the NV progress map for Samsung. Then search for Hayward, CA and observe what's going on.

--> There's a couple towers up and running 3g/4g completed but nothing substantial yet.

  2. I heard from somewhere that T-Mobiles towers just require a software upgrade for lte.. I also heard those launch rumors for CES as well.

I don't believe it's just a simple software upgrade. I was under the impression that the equipment T-mobile uses is compatible with LTE but doesn't mean you don't need to visit it and do some physical work.

Either way, T-mobile still needs to refarm 3g to PCS and kick off people from their 1700/2100 before doing LTE. Funny thing... in my area (sacramento), they've begun refarming PCS to 3g and it's on average faster than ATT HSPA+ by quite a bit but still plenty of holes where edge is still the norm for unlocked phones.

  3. This is very true. Back in summer '11 in Sacramento I couldn't pull more than 30mbps anywhere which actually matched local Comcast cable offerings lol. Always wondered if they're leasing their backhaul from local CableCo's over there. In large and dense markets like NYC their sites are mostly fed with massive fiber backhaul though.

Well... as I live in Sacramento and have many friends who use ATT and Vz, I can assure you they're using either Comcast or ATT and Sprint / T-mobile is likely to as well since they have a practical duopoly (they've brought out every other ISP in the last 10 years).

My friends VZ LTE smartphones have speeds in the 4-10 mbps range during for the majority of day time. During peak hours, it can come down to 2-4 mbps or lower in the downtown area by the state capital. Surrounding areas like the suburbs are not as highly affected but they're still barely within the 5-12 mbps average. Anywhere near a high school or middle school is (uh oh) during lunch time as you can easily get hundreds of people using their LTE devices.

But yea. Verizon LTE used to top out in the 25-30ish mbps range before people started jumping on it.

  4. Word is that Sammy's next SoC has integrated radios as well I believe too... Might be the next series after the one coming up but swear I read that somewhere.... I'm not a sammy fan anyway, still wiring on the next SoC from Qualcomm here really...

Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2

The Exynos 5 series (aka 5250 A15 dual core ala Nexus 10 + chromebook and exynos 5450 A15 quad core [GS4 / GN3?]) will have everything integrated on chip like the Snapdragon. Right now, the Exynos 5250 in the chrome book / nexus 10 literally takes every single SoC out there (including apples custom designed one) and drags it on the floor.

The 5450 is going to be in the Galaxy S4 / Galaxy Note 3 and there will be no questions about it. Both entered mass production in Q2/Q3 2012 on the 28nm process. Keep in mind, this chip was designed to fix what the 4 series could not do, mainly LTE compatibility issues (the 4 were really made with South Korea LTE in mind) and focus on power efficiency.

  5. This reminds me of one time I was staying at an Embassy Suites. I took a shower and I left the news on the TV. I walked out of the shower completely nude. And when I walked by the TV, they had some breaking news. So I sat on the couch buck naked watching whatever it was on the news.

My wife called just then. I tried to mess with her and told her I was sitting on the couch naked watching the news. She countered that I'm probably not the first to be naked on that couch. I jumped about 5 feet in the air. Ewww...

My mom works at Hyatt Regency (20+ years ) and your wife is speaking the truth. If you can sit on a counter or lean against something that supports you then someone has screwed another person on it. All hotels / motel housekeepers have a set quota of rooms to clean (40-50 or more depending on season) and are given a certain time limit (5 -10 mins or quicker).

Does it look clean? No. Replace. Yes?.it's staying.

Can you see it? Nope. Next room. Yes, make it not be seen.

But yes. Bodily fluids EVERYWHEREEEE. I highly recommend you to not use a UV light anywhere in the vicinity of a hotel room...

  6. I live in Davis, California which I'm guessing lies in the upper valley region. I was wondering if LTE will be deployed here by at least Auguest of 2013. I love the unlimited data, but the speeds aren't really up to par. I'm willing to accept the decent 3G for now, but as a student I need good speeds outside. If so I will cancel my Sprint account and go with AT&T. I don't see the point of unlimited data if you can't use it. If anyone has any insight on this I would greatly it.

As a local resident and someone who got denied into UC Davis, I will abstain from correcting you on "Auguest", usage of "was" instead of "is", and general tone of "importance'' just because you are a student.

Anyways, Davis,CA is part of the northern CA market and will undoubtedly be one of the first places to be completely done. Davis has about 10 cell towers and is along i80 which if you follow it for 20 minutes will get you into active NV zones with LTE. Sprint loves deploying along major interstates and highways and put that with relatively few cell towers in davis ensures that NV upgrades will be relatively fast.

Sprint will start NV upgrades in the UCV by springtime and will have extremely high progress by August of 2013. Samsung is the fastest of the 3 OEMs. If the SF bay market is any indication, then Sammy, in around 5 months, will get almost 30% of cell sites completed. Areas around highways/interstates will be done first probably AKA Davis.

If you want to leave for ATT LTE then by all means leave but Sprint will have LTE up and running and by august, 800mhz lte should be turned on. Furthermore, the chances of CW TDD-LTE around Davis is fairly high thanks to the high population density. Your choice, do what you think is best for you.

  7. On my iPhone 4S, there is a tower getting 1.2mbps+ in Chico, CA. I do not have an LTE capable phone so not sure if LTE has started here or not, but network vision upgrades to old 1X network panels definitelly have started. I used to get 0.01mbps and for the past few months now get 1.2mbps around the northend of Chico.

I hope this means Chico is included in the Upper Central Valley Market as often times it is forgotten by telecommunication companies because the county is only 100k people or so. Hell, just now we're getting Verizon's LTE and AT&T U-Verse. AT&T LTE hasn't even ben announced here either.

Nope. Definitely has not started. Plenty of bandaid fixes over the past year though. We're still in the very, earliest stages of anything happening (EHRPD has just recently been turned on). Not to mention NV upgraded 3g is usually in the 1.5-2.0mbps range. Some sites are just less loaded than others and have higher speeds.

  8. I am split between kansas city and chicago(work and family). I can say that in my apartment in kansas city area, I went from having a hard time keep a conversation in the middle of my apartment and having to be by a window before nv. Went they upgraded to nv, I can have a conversation all though my apartment without a problem. Yet until smr 850, we won't see in-buliding signal that everyone wants. I can't want for it either, One of the reasons I bought the galaxy III. I knew it wouldn't be out of date phone in a year when they start rolling that out.

SMR is 800. Sprint doesn't have any 850.

  9. Whelp. Ermagawd, we now have eeerrrrhhhpeeeediiiiieeeesss in sac.

Mmmhh. Okay. So my friend just recently returned from basic training in Texas and got me to root his GS3 last week. I checked the network info screen and it was Evdo:6 or 8. Today, we went out nearby to eat and checked again and it's now ehrpd on his GS3. Good sign I suppose.

Maybe the next time he gets leave from his post, he won't be abandoning 4g LTE in Texas for our crappy legacy 3g which is dial up speed at his house.

  10. I lived in Solano County for almost 10 years. We considered ourselves apart of every city in Northern CA. We were part of Sacramento and the Bay Area. Legends in our own minds. Don't you know how important we think we are???

    ;)

Haha Yes very important. We have to stop somewhere on our way to and from the bay to take a piss or get food you know :P

  11. Let me try to understand what u mean. When they r doing Nv upgrades of service and upgrading 3G does that mean the qos or are they upgrading to more capacity so it will on par to Verizon ? Or does it mean 4g won't exist in these places and all and we will be getting a 3G upgrade instead?

Network Vision upgrades entail the replacement of legacy gear with modern gear.

If permitting is done but backhaul is not then they'll replace the legacy stuff at the site and reconnect the hardware to the old legacy T1 lines. If permitting and backhaul is in place then they'll connect all the new gear to the new backhaul which will show in increased speeds. 4g may or may not be turned on at this point depending on who's the OEM (alcatel-lucent takes a bit).

Point is, 4g LTE will not be turned on at sites that does not have back haul ready but 3g will be turned on and connected to legacy backhaul.

Upgraded 3g (fiber / mw / aav) will have no slow downs and low latency compared to legacy 3g with T1 lines. They tend to hover in the 1.0-2.5 mbps range and faster as you get closer to the cell tower. This is because upgraded 3g sites are connected to the same backhaul as LTE.

  12. I live in Fairfield CA , my city launch LTE and coverage map on Sprint website show all my city with orange color. But nobody in here pick up LTE , only in freeway. Can you help us to tell us why no LTE here ? Check Sensorly and no coverage here , only in the area with nobody live there. Why Sprint troll customer like that ?

1st. We need to be able to comprehend what you're saying. Meaning. Proper English with correct grammar please.

2nd. Fairfield CA is LAUNCHING LTE meaning it's work in progress. Fairfield is part of the San Francisco bay area market and NV is in progress with loads of sites coming online each week throughout the entire market. They'll work when a site is ready for them to work on. No other reason about them being "slow".

3rd. Sprint is not trolling. If you want to complain about sprints LTE rollout, this is not the place to do it.

  13. I have another question. Why is that tower so small as to hieght? Everg tower I seen are like 400 feet tall an the one I took pics of is very very short. Is that because that tower is made for a specific reason or range ?

Each tower is setup specific to geography and a plethora of other reasons. There's never a standard setup of anything. It's all engineered for that site and the surrounding area.

  14. I'd say AT&T. VZW does not use RRU's. Tmo is not planning RRU's until their LTE deployment. And that last I heard, Tmo was planning on using the new integrated RRU/panel type. Unless they've changed their mind since early summer. They are handsome devils, though.

EDIT: We talked about this last Spring: http://s4gru.com/ind...dpost__p__17017

Ah yes. I was hesitent about T-mobile since I've never seen them use RRU's but I've seen them mentioned to be using a form of RRU. Verizon ... that's something new.

Interesting... We do learn new things every day :)
