  1. No, right now I'm running my home's internet off of Verizon's 3G network (haven't ponied up the money to get a new 4G adapter). My download speed is about 100-250 KBps. I'm on their old unlimited plan. Sprint's plans don't compare, unfortunately, for their Netgear router they offer. Otherwise, I would consider switching my home ISP to Sprint. Yeah, that's what I'm expecting, as my 800mhz voice connection is pretty good. And even my eHRPD signal on the 1900mhz is good too, so I'm hoping my B25 LTE signal is good, too. And yes, those maps in the sponsor area are very helpful.. I'm going out today to do some tower-spotting.
  2. Actually, I don't think I have line of sight with the antennas. After looking more closely at the map of my tower, I realize I mistook an adjacent tower for my Sprint tower. The actual Sprint tower is a flagpole setup. It's shorter than the other tower and I don't think I could see it even if I got up on my roof with binoculars. But I'll check once I get a clear day. Even without LOS, I think if I got a directional antenna, I wouldn't have any problems with picking up B25/B26.
  3. They're the only game in town.. BlackBerry 10 is my favorite platform and Sprint didn't release the new Moto X. I'm waiting for BB to release the Classic on Sprint, in which case it would probably be tri-band. I wish the Q10 was tri-band.. or even dual band (B26 support).. I could go to HTC, LG, or Nexus.. but I like BlackBerry too much.
  4. Yeah, I may just become a sponsor. This site is really cool. I think it's a healthy addiction..lol.. I'm looking to get my own amp and antenna and make my house a strong area for Sprint coverage. Thanks for the welcome, I've enjoyed reading everything this site has to offer.
  5. I was looking at the Wilson antennas and amplifiers online.. If I buy a directional antenna and point it at the tower, one would think that I would get a decent B25 signal.. am I right?
  6. Oh okay that's cool. This makes me want to do some driving around to figure out where the towers are in my area.
  7. Thanks for the tip, I hadn't heard of Wilson Electronics. I looked at their website and they have some cool stuff. Why would they only transmit a point in the coverage area? To hide the tower?
  8. Oh, thanks for the correction. Now I know. I'm not sure if the antennas are visible from my house. Let me get some binoculars on a clear day and check. Yeah, I'm hoping I can at least pick up B25.. B26 is icing on the cake, since my phone only picks up B25.
  9. Hi everyone, Thanks for all the replies. I really appreciate all the comments; I like learning more about the technology surrounding cell phones. I'll reply to everything as I go. I've linked some screenshots of my SignalCheck results at my house from yesterday evening. Hopefully that gives you some of the details you're looking for. That's true that the coverage maps aren't very accurate- when I was at the Sprint store they brought up a company map on their computer showing the tower location. My house is right on the fringe of the tower's coverage area. I wouldn't say my house's location has down tilt compared to the tower. There isn't a whole lot of topographical difference between the two. There are a lot trees in between my house and the tower; but like I said, I can look out the window and see the blinking light of the tower. One thing I was curious about was why SignalCheck only displays my tower's location as Leesburg, VA. This only happens when I'm on the road near my house or at it. When I'm in town (I live outside the town limits), it displays the street address of the tower.
  10. Thanks for the replies. Sorry for posting about a topic that's already been talked about. I'm hoping Sprint comes out with a new BlackBerry that way I could pick up B26. According to Sprint's coverage maps, I'm in a roaming area.. But that's not true. If I stand on the porch or outside, I can get 5/6 bars on my Moto X. eHRPD is weaker- SignalCheck rates my connection around -96 dBm. I'll double check those numbers when I get home tonight.
  11. The closest Sprint tower to my house is about 3.5 miles away. In between are hills, trees, a handful of houses, and fields. However, I do have line of sight. I can see the blinking light of the tower in the distance at night. I do not think Sprint has deployed any LTE at this tower. When they do, is it possible that the LTE signal would reach my house? Right now I have a Moto X, but I may go back to the Q10. I do pick up eHRPD at my house. What frequency is that on? I'm thinking Sprint's 800ish mhz LTE band might. Not sure about 1900 though.. Thanks
  12. I was reading on BlackBerry's preorder page for the Classic that it'll be available for both GSM and CDMA networks.. So that's promising.. Just have to wait for the Dec. 17th launch to know for sure.
  13. Okay, thanks. I looked on OpenSignal's actual website and it shows tower locations. However, I think they're missing some.
  14. Hi, Are there any rumblings of the Classic or Passport coming to Sprint? Or any of the other US carriers, for that matter? I've heard nothing through the official channels or CrackBerry. I'd like to go back to BB when Sprint gives me my upgrade in May 2015.. but was hoping they'd have something newer than the Q10. Thanks
  15. Please let me know if I'm in the wrong thread. Or what I should do. I'm new here. I've noticed Sprint 1900mhz LTE popping up around Leesburg, VA. Within the last week, it started coming up around the intersection of Battlefield Parkway and Rt. 7. Here are some other places I've picked it up: - Around intersection of Gap road and Rt. 15. - Down in the woods near Camp Highroad area (I think they have their own antenna, am not sure) - Somewhat spotty coverage in Ashburn, VA and Rt 7 - Around the traffic circles at Gilbert's Corner off of Rt. 15 & Rt. 50 - On some sections of Evergreen Mill Road, closer towards Rt. 50 Is anyone familiar with the towers in this area? I looked on OpenSignal's map, but it doesn't pinpoint the towers for me.. not sure why. I'd also be interested to hear from people with devices that can pick up Sprint's 800mhz. I heard it's in town at some places, but my Moto X is not capable of picking it up :/ Thanks
