All in all, I'm thrilled with this news. Barring some major downside (please be on Sprint), I'll definitely be ordering the sailfish device once released.
I don't think you have to worry about it not being Sprint compatible due to Project Fi

Sorry if I missed this, but is Sprint clear to launch B26 in the Detroit area? I thought the last holdout along the Canadian border was in the Pacific Northwest. I haven't cared as much about the mitten until I met my better half.
I don't think anyone knows if the Canadian side is clear. As for east Michigan, most of it does not even have B26 capable equipment installed.

I did take advantage of the ProjectFi deal, so the phone did have to activate on ProjectFi. But that is cancelled. Does Google send Sprint a list of phones that get activated on ProjectFi so Sprint to remove them from the Whitelist?
I believe that is your problem. I think it happens with any Sprint MVNO.

Why is it so difficult to get a 5X added to the network. Phone/Chat support has been great, but these steps are just so unnecessary.
I activated mine through the website without any Sprint interaction. Where did you buy your phone from?
Edit: to add link re: activation: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/7309-huawei-nexus-6p-activation-info/

You're intermixing how IOS devices and Android devices handle things. Signalcheck cannot show both at the same time properly because it's not possible. The sole reason 1X data is showing while LTE data is showing currently is due to a change in Android 5.0+ that is causing it to report false information or causing stale information to hang around.
I don't think it is an Android issue. My Nexus 5 running Android 5.0 and 6.0 never has had this issue. My Nexus 5X does have the issue and both LTE and 1x are updating when displayed together. However, they may not be updating at the same time.

This bug is driving me crazy on my phone.
It's causing my Hotmail email to constantly attempt to sync, draining battery like crazy. I've missed some important emails too as a result. Of course, people will tell me to switch to Gmail, but my hotmail is well known amongst friends/family to the point where it'd be like changing your phone number.
Anyone use a good email app alternative to Google that support hotmail?
Have you considered the Outlook app? I haven't used it but some tech sites talked like it was better than the Gmail app.

I just got my unlocked Huawei Nexus 6P from google. I tried activating it through the phone and tried to use the SIM out of my Nexus 6 and it did not work. I called support and they said i would need to go into the store to get it activated correctly. After going to the store the guy told me that sprint will not allow the device on the network. After being with their flaky service for the last 10 years, I decided that I will take my business to Google Project FI. After calling customer service to cancel my contract, which consisted of 4 phones, the lady proceeded to try and get the phone on the network. Since the phone did not come with a SIM, the lady went ahead and ordered me a SIM for the phone before I cancel my contract. Has anyone else had any issues getting this phone on the sprint network?
Once you get the correct sim, you should not have any problems activating the phone. I activated my 5X online without any interaction from Sprint.

i cant get google voice to take over my voicemail duties. i call the number the set up tells me to with *28 but it just rings and rings and voicemail is still stuck with the sprint system. i seem to remember it is just suppose to ring like once isnt it?
Did you try to activate/deactivate via the Google Voice website?
-
I dont have the tab there with sprint. I just have the three tabs. Favorite, Recent, Contacts. Voicemail is missing.
For me, the tab only appeared after activating Google Voice.
-
I will keep the Google voice mail as the main voice mail on my number with the 5X but what options do I have as far as notifications from the Sprint voice mail if some calls keep getting through to it? Is it possible to install Sprint's crappy VM app on a non-branded phone? Any other alternatives?
No, I don't believe you can install Sprint's voicemail app on the Nexus. Google Voice has been pretty reliable for me. I haven't tested it yet but I don't think you even need the Google Voice app anymore if you are using it just for voicemail. I think you can enable Google Voice through the web and activate it with a dialer code on the phone. It will then add a new tab in the phone dialer for voicemail.

@Ascertion
Anything to share concerning the visual voicemail capabilities of Marshmallow?
I hope you don't mind if I add my two cents. I couldn't get the native visual voicemail in marshmallow to work. In my reading, it appears it only works on T-Mobile right now. I went back to using Google voice.

Those that activated did you have to leave the last number off?
You use the MEID which is same number as the IMEI minus 1 digit. Both are on the box.
-
Yes, I thought the phone was going to go flying across the room because it is so slippery and the cable was hard to disconnect.
I guess I am glad it is not just my phone that has the issue. Maybe it will get better with some use.
-
The 5X was the easiest new phone activation I have ever had with Sprint. I didn't even have to chat. Good job Sprint!
Anyone else notice the USB Type C cable is really hard to disconnect? I thought I was going to break the phone unplugging the cable.

still waiting on mine to ship. guess i shouldnt have ordered one of those cases together with it in the same order. i figure that is what is holding it up.
I don't think it matters. I ordered mine minutes after the link went live without any extra items and mine has not shipped yet. I have seen some people who ordered the same phone configuration days after I did and they have received shipping notifications.
-
From what I've read, it's based on customer location. I ordered a bit later than a lot of others, yet mine appears to be in the first wave of shipments.
That is good to know. If they are shipping from IL, ground items are usually next day for me.
-
They certainly don't seem to ship on a FIFO basis.
-
Looks like you're not the only one.
EDIT: Wonder if I can get 1-night shipping without cancelling the order.
I didn't choose 1 day shipping so it will be interesting to see where it is shipping from. Normally it doesn't pay for me to choose 1 day shipping. I think your best bet for changing an order would be to call them.
-
Ship date estimate? Just checked mine and it's still pending. What if they start shipping tomorrow?!
It still says October 23 -27
-
My order has changed to processing and the charge is pending on my credit card again.

Tried to order a sim last night via international chat, was told that they don't know what sim to send me.... Try back in a couple days, lol
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Just tell them you need a sim for a Moto X Pure Edition. Or you could give the exact SKU, Part number and UPC listed in the 5X thread.
Part: SIMGLW446C
SKU: CZ2144LWC
UPC: 019962040146

leave sprint for who? AT&T is the last nation wide carrier to have 2 year contracts... you think they wont follow everyone else?
I think we are going to end up with 4 national networks and everyone will be a subscriber of a MNVO. I say that sarcastically but at the same time, the MNVO's have the easiest plans to understand. A family of 5 could use Cricket for $100 and get a decent bucket of data with a reasonable speed cap.

So from today 2 year contracts are gone?
I don't believe so. They are still on the website. I also hope this change will only apply to new customers or current customers financing/leasing a phone.

Going north on 127, the first place I encounter B26 is in the Ithaca area. Kind of hard to grab B26 on the highway...pretty good coverage keeps me on B25.
