  1. Something has changed drastically. There is no way you can go from -100dBm on an EVO 3D and go to -66dBm on an EVO LTE. Something else is at play. There is a problem somewhere. Or a new tower went live...which doesn't seem likely. Could it be a problem with the app?

Oh. You mean signal strength at the house? It still runs anywhere from -85 to -110 depending on which of the three towers I am hitting at the time.
  2. What is your signal strength running on the EVO LTE so far?

Pulling the data from open signal maps I have gotten as good as -66 dbm. Average has been about -75. There does not seem to be a close correlation between the bar meter and actual signal strength.
  3. I have had no issues with reception. In fact, my house is a low signal area, usually -100 dbm that bounces off of three towers(drives me crazy). My OG EVO and EVO 3d would have choppy reception and drop from time to time. No such issues so far with the EVO LTE.

  4. Got an email from Best Buy about an hour ago saying there was a problem with my online preorder and telling me to call. Long story short, I'm not really sure why they told me to call, but whatever magic they did changed my order status from "Backordered" to "Order in process of being fulfilled; Usually ships in 1 - 2 days." I guess if they don't ship today it'll be Tuesday at the earliest before I see the phone, Monday being a holiday and all *grumble*.

The good news is that while I was on hold, I went to the Best Buy Mobile site the hold music kept telling me to visit, and it says the $50 phone freedom gift card and the $50 preorder gift card do stack.

I can confirm that they do stack! All I paid was tax on mine!
  5. Android Authority magazines review of the U.S. Version. The notes that were recently given to the presenters of the gs3 for the Unpacked New York event, Google the device, orders for factory unlocked version began shipping today, TO AMERICAN ADDRESSES. The fact that I have held both the international and the U.S versions in my hand...I have nothing to prove, Samsung has had the #1 handheld device for the past 2 years, both coincidentally Galaxy series, and will most likely hold fast to that claim again this year, with, yep the newest Galaxy

    Ok. Any links?
  6. Maybe.

But salaries in several suburban jurisdictions border on obscene.

Public sector workers averaging 120 with some getting as much as 180 is unjustifiable in any context.

New York is completely underwater financially due insane to public sector pension deals that were made in the 70s and 80s. The property taxes on an average suburban house is 11,000-13,000. Needless to say, nobody in my age group is planning to stick around here long term and buy a house, we're all getting out.

I will go one further. 90k for a beat cop is pushing it. However, NYC is not underwater because of union deals(certainly not any made in the 70's when NYC was in a form of financial receivership with the state). New York has an issue with the ratio of working tax paying citizens vs non working non taxpaying citizens. But thats just my opinion.
  7. benchmarks are done for a reason, and once again Samsung outdoes HTC, by EPIC MILES IN EVERY AREA...12mp rear camera, 2mp front, EXYNOS quadcore processor confirmed fixed and U.S LTE compatible, pentile screen really a bad thing when held side by side as the gs3 display STILL shames ltevo...the only plus to evo is the kickstand it has that its gonna need to stand in the same Galaxy as gs3. was at unpacked event in London, and have had major phone wood ever since...nevermind ltevos aluminum shell that will aid in overheating that irremovable battery vs. gs3 space shuttle like ceramic casing to keep it cooler...cant wait to buy my gs3

Can you provide sources for those specs? Everywhere I look the specs are lower than what you are saying.
  8. That's not true everywhere.

Average police pay tops $80,000 in NY, NJ and California with detectives earning well over $100,000. The benefit packages and pensions that these guys get would blow your mind.

There's a reason certain states have massive budget deficits and much higher taxes than others.

Not accurate. The starting pay in NYC is about 24K a year with a regular police officer topping out at about 50K. There are some other jurisdictions that make a lot of money though like PAPD, Nassau Police and Suffolk Police.
  9. Repost for those who want a tracking number, follow my instructions even if a tracking number is not showing on Sprint.com or on your order page:

ruplyb.jpgImage or it's not real shot above!

I just went to UPS track by reference as the user before me said and put my Sprint account number as reference, my zip code and choose USA as shipping country and that above came up. :) I'm not sure if I should be happy as it says 2 day air? Shouldn't it be next day? I won't be getting it til Friday by that fact?

    My Sprint.com/myorder shows,

And my Sprint.com order info under See My Bill > See My Order History shows

Also my Sprint account still shows a negative balance of -$211.99 which is the cost of the phone plus my states sales tax. Man is Sprint backwards! I also never received the "delayed" email many others that preordered from Sprint had gotten saying the phone was delayed! The only email I have from Sprint is my order purchase receipt and THAT IS IT! So if I wasn't vigilant checking online I would be left to think the phone was lost or stolen! Sprint has still yet to send me a text message, call or email that I would not be getting my phone "on or before Friday May 18th" and then it was "on or before Thursday, May 24th" only to now have it become "by Thursday, May 24" with the "on or before" language removed?

And don't tell me they didn't know till days before the launch that the phone might be delayed as many sites reported they knew they were going to have issues but tried to squeak through anyway! Remember "Risk with Mitigation!" on the HTC EVO 4G LTE paperwork on s4gru.com? Sprint has been pissing off their loyal customers for NO REASON WHATSOEVER!?

Where is the SprintInsider and why has he been so quiet since yesterday? He would have given himself away today by saying he wasn't able to make the conference call so something has to be up as everyone would say hey it's Bill (him)? Something isn't right or the guy at insidesprintnow.wordpress.com is Dan Hesse himself! There is no way Sprint wouldn’t track him down and hang him, not literally but after the lawyers he may have wished they did. This site and Twitter account have now been cited in many news stories and even in the official Sprint forums so either they already know who he is and approve of having an under the table news source to get info out to customers without the pressure of getting things wrong in the mainstream press?

But to me it makes no sense as I would have more appreciation for Sprint if they supported an official blog, maybe even this one? Wouldn’t it be cool if Sprint had this blogger on their official site? Maybe even Dan Hesse himself could post from time to time? I like Hesse and I thought his move to buy MetroPCS made sense as Sprint could have launched MetroPCS’ own LTE network as their own and we could have been using LTE on our soon to be new EVO LTEs in the old MetroPCS markets! Man think how cool that would have been as Sprint could have hooked their backhaul onto MetroPCS superior network technology and they would have sped up the LTE launch by a year plus! Hesse is the man and Sprint needs to keep him around and learn a thing or two!

    5th :-\

So let me see if I have this right. You have a love hate relationship with Sprint?
  10. I can't see an iPhone with a 4.5" screen. It just seems too large for Apple to want one that big. But with Apple, they like to give surprises, lol. I just hope the home screen has more apps than the current setup if the screen is bigger.

Sent from Joshs iPhone 3Gs using Forum Runner

Waiting to see if Apple is going to pull the old "Classic Coke New Coke" gambit where they upgrade the 4S but keep the same size screen and make the iPhone 5 with a bigger screen.
  11. Sprint should have never split with Embarq and should have merged with Alltel and TDS (parents of USCC). Not necessarily for their residential landlines, which are dying, but the business ones which are not. Not to mention the backhaul in a lot of places. But they thought that they could sidle up to the cable cos and sell them VOIP minutes, but looked what happened. They abandoned Sprint. I still think that Century link should merge with TDS and maybe Windstream and together should absorb Sprint. I also think that companies with residential landlines should offer them to utilities for their smart grid efforts (AMR, AMI).

I thought spinning off embarq was a condition of the sprint nextel merger.
  12. Sprint seems to have made one PR mistake here: they knew CTIA was in New Orleans; surely they could have prodded Ericsson to get LTE up and running at least in the most-frequented parts of Orleans and Jefferson parishes (basically, from the airport to the Industrial Canal on the north/east bank of the river back to the lake). If they had, Engadget wouldn't be whining about the lack of LTE because (let's face it) they, like most "pop" tech sites and reviewers, don't keep up with anything that doesn't show up in a press release or in a shiny box.

Not surprising since they did not do it at the unveil in NYC.
  13. there is a network outage reporting on your t.ower around your area. call sprint they will give you the information

Thats the one that they reported to me two weeks ago. It also does not explain the other dropped calls.
  14. From everything I've read, US carriers are heavily subsidizing these phones. We've gotten a little spoiled with the $199 price point. People in other countries are paying hundreds more than we do here. Of course they are not on 2 year contracts with locked phones either.

I have been wondering to myself if the new EVO will be the last top of the line phone for $199. I was easily expecting the EVO to go for $250(like the Epic 4G). It will be interesting to see how much Sprint charges for the Galaxy3,iPhone5 and the next variant of the Photon.
