  1. My iPhone 7 Plus actually holds signal very well. Even when LTE is bad I don't see 3G unless I switch off LTE. 3G always seems to be blazing fast where as LTE in certain areas is bogged down and in some cases slower than the 3G.

The 6s and 7 hold great signal

  2. Iphone's generally do not have a great radio. Maybe the iphone 7 is better? But generally speaking not quite as good as a top notch android device.

Regardless, your speeds seem very respectable. Once they launch the 3rd carrier and sites are less burdened you should see a nice bump.

My wife had the 6 and I had the 6s and my 6s performed much better than hers. Now she has the 7 and it appears to be the same as my 6s.

Mine would hold on to LTE while hers would switch to 3G on some locations or 1x.

  3. Is there any LTE Plus in Brooklyn or any of the other boroughs besides Manhattan?

I live in Brooklyn Mapleton and although I have great service and speeds, I have yet to experience the 100mbps speeds I have heard so much about. I have the iPhone 6s which is capable of CA 2x.

Any small cell deployment in Brooklyn?

  4. The best way to troubleshoot HD voice issues is by removing the WIFI CALLING option from your plan on sprint.com, after disabling it on your device. Do the same for your fiancee's phone and you should be golden.

I had to do the same for my wife's phone and she noticed the difference immediately.

Is that so? I called her again today and still sounded the same like yesterday. I assume I would have to do this through the sprint website?

  5. Perhaps manufactured was the wrong word. But unlocked non-Sprint specific/sold to be used on Sprint devices tend to have difficulty with things like HD voice, CA, and even B41 (though that has become less of an issue this year).

I have yet to experience any CA like speeds but so far everything is working flawlessly. I went to visit a friend and in the hallways and elevator, I either dropped to 1x or 3G but once inside his apartment, the phone jumped to B41 for about 2-3 mins and then my screen flashed "No Service" so I began to worry. I waited and after about 60 seconds, LTE came up on the screen and this time on B26 and the entire time that I was visiting with him my 6s stayed on B26 and though I did not get a chance to do a soeed test, I was able to browse the web and watch YouTube without any lags or buffering.

I will test HD again tomorrow.

  6. I mean I've tried because wifi calling broke my HD Voice and it's kinda a PITA because the reps don't know what HD Voice is. They place Google searches just to say Sprint doesn't support HD Voice because Sprint doesn't do VoLTE like the other carriers. It's really messy. I could imagine you could request to be connected to a technician and speak to him/her about it.

Hmmm I think I'll just stick with what I have, don't want to mess anything but I will say that I called my fiancé before I did the carrier update and updated the PRL.

After I hung up with her, I I went into setting and right away I got the notification to do a carroer update from 24.1 to 24.2 and the PRL went from 1 to 54056.

Would this help at all with getting HD voice?

  7. My Nexus 6 doesn't experience HD voice either since it's technically an unlocked device but I have few complaints about call quality.

I just want to have the full experience but I must say that when I called my mom on a landline, she sounded much clearer and better.

When I was with Verizon, I also had good call quality but the best call quality I have experienced has been with T-Mobile.

  8. I see that everyone is talking about small cells and all that is great but I thought I would share my experience with Sprint.

I ported my number over today to Sprint and brought over my own device unlocked. I have a 6s unlocked which I bought from Apple.

I must say so far everything is working as expected. Service has been great and I have no complaints. Band 41 is working good as well as B26 which I was able to connect to when I walked into my basement. Speeds were about 6.50 down and 3.3 up on B26. I have yet to connect to B25 but B41 has been between 9mbps - 26mbps down and uploads around 5-6mpbs.

I don't know if HD calling is working or if there is a way to know. My fiancé is with Sprint in a family plan with her family and when I called her, she sounded a bit better but not the type if HD calling I was expecting.

She has an iPhone 6 so it is definitely capable of HD calling. I was with cricket and I always called her with Facetime Audio since it uses data so it sounded like HD calling because when I called her on a regular phone call, the conversation was so hard to understand but this time when I called her, she sounded a bit better as I said before.

Pehaps someone can give an input as to how to tell when one is on HD calling or if what I heard today is what Sprint considers HD but besides this, everything is working great.

No complaints so far and I will test their service out for a month or 2 before I decide if I should permanently stay and join her family plan or jump back to cricket.

  9. Model A1633*

    Model A1634*

    LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)

    TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40, 41)

    TD-SCDMA 1900 (F), 2000 (A)

    UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)

    CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)

    GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

All the bands are supported on both models for AT&T and unlocked iPhones, should be no issue at all as long as its in sprints system. Including HD voice.

Thanks dor your quick response. Does Sprint give less priority to customer's who bring their own device? I'm talking in terms of data speeds.

  10. New Sprint B41 5th ave off 37th street. Very unexpected. Getting it indoors in that area.

I thought B41 was deployed throughout most of NYC.

I just got an iPhone 6s unlocked model A1633.

Has CA been deployed in NYC? Will I see much better service than with the iPhone 6?

I'm thinking of switching now that I got the 6s that supports CA.

  11. So I may be joining Sprint sooner than anticipated. I really like that promotion they got going on with trading in ny iPhone 6 and only paying $5.77 for the 6s and $60 unlimited.

I understand next week Friday it will go up to $70.

Is Sprint reliable in all 5 boroughs? I tried it for a few days but I was not able to go test it outside of Queens.

  12. Second Carrier is coming very very soon (probably 6-8weeks) to NYC and I fully expect nearly double the speeds on B41.

Call quality on Sprint is definitely better than ATT GSM. But, VoLTE is another cut above Sprint HD in terms of call quality, also VoLTE eliminates the need for a second radio to do Simultaneous calls/data.

Thats why your seeing LTE instead of "4G" while on a call since Voice is passing through LTE, hence the name..

I have to disagree on the voice quality comment you mentioned. I really do think GSM voice quality is better. Of course you are entitled to your opinion but I think voices sounds clearer on GSM.

Going back to the experience, Sprint has improved so much compared to the disastrous experience I had in 2011-12. I tried to wait out the storm but I couldn't and ended paying the ETF, jumped to tmobile and didn't have good reception, then jumped to AT&T and it's where I have stayed but I am still rooting for Sprint and follow this website like religion lol.

  13. I know this isn't the place for it but I'm so excited I had to put it here. This morning I realized I was using VoLTE on AT&T.

I'm in the Bronx now and every time I'm om a call, LTE shows on top rather than 4G. I've been all over Queens today and now the Bronx. I guess AT&T has quietly unleashed VoLTE in NYC.

Talking about Sprint, I used Sprint for a few days (14 day grace period) and I have to say WHAT A CHANGE!

It was on their iPhone 6 and I loved Band 41. So fast.

Call quality wasn't as great as AT&T's GSM network. I use the voice and surf the web feature a lot with AT&T so that is the only thing that's keeping me from switching to Sprint and now that AT&T has unleashed their VoLTE network in NYC, it's gonna be a lot harder to switch.

Overall, Sprint's LTE network was super fast but im certain areas it was slow or their video quality wasn't as freat compared to AT&T. Sometimes on my AT&T iPhone my videos played on HD and with Sprint sometimes it looked a little blurry and their 3G network was also amazingly fast.

In my basement, I would get Band 26 and about 11 down. I was very impressed that in certain areas if my basement I wiuld still get Band 41 and the deeper I got inside, it would quickly switch over to Band 26. I was very impressed.

Sptint has definitely improved. I was out in PA near Lancaster and Sprint was also good but in some areas it was slow but still very good and useable data.
