OK I am absolutely blown away with the difference between my S3 and my son's S5! I would have not been so frustrated with my service had I known. If I didn't want the note 4 so bad I would upgrade tonight. He pulled a 43mbps speed test tonight in Fairfield. Highest I have ever had was a 24. And I do know that you cannot reply on speed tests alone but in my office with our phones side by side I got 3Mbps while his got 35Mbps. Coming from an iPhone 4 he is beyond ecstatic.

I got it on a 2yr upgrade.Sorry for the double.post, my phone has been doing this for a while, not just here, whenever I try to upload attachments........it says " cannot connect to the forum, if the problem persists , contact forum administrator " , then I try to hit resend after I see that, and same message pops up, then It ends up double posting......strange......
Is that S5 Amazon deal for $99 2 year contract price ?

I just ordered my son an S5 on Amazon for $99! This next couple months is going to be torture waiting on the Note 4.Just got my brand new HTC ONE M8. If anyone wants a new phone cheap, buy it on Amazon. Same phone that is $199.99 at Sprint is $79.99 at Amazon. That spinning Spark symbol is annoying but hopefully we will get some spark soon!

My s3 picked up the same new prl. No idea what changed.I just noticed I have a new PRL, 25019. I have an HTC EVO 4G LTE. Anyone know what that does?

I ran into a Integration Tech up here in Richmond, IN yesterday. She was installing B26 cards at 10 towers in the local area. Stated that her and another tech has a list of 79 towers in the Cincinnati market to get completed soon.
I zoomed in from outside the gate to get a pic of her installing it.
Wow. Great work. That is the most encouraging post in some time.
Does anyone know how the strength of B26 relates to the strength of 1x800?
-
Do the recent B41 experiences mean they are firing up clusters of fallback capabilities?

Thank you very much! Friend of mine got the s5 recently. He is out of town to Disney right now. I will have him swing over when he gets back and will report back. I have been curious about a supposed spark tower 1/3 mile from my house. Hoping for the best.
For previous wimax only sites are there equipment upgrades to be made or are they currently pushing band 41 on the old gear?
There was an in detail thread regarding it a few pages ago...
TL;DR version:
Obtain your MSL number (I called Sprint and told them I wanted to do a factory reset).
Open the phone dialer.

That is incredible. Any one with a band 41 capable device want to check the speeds in the nilles and river part of Fairfield? Anyone know if there is a way to force lte on the s5?
Putting my M8 in LTE only mode I managed to get quite a few speed tests in the 60-70 range on band 41 on the west side in the Delhi/Covedale area. This was on Glenway Ave. Tower on N Overlook nearby is putting off band 41.
-
How do you force lte on the s5? A friend of mine just got one and I would like to test out the b41 coverage around here.

Oh ok, I was wondering if it worked differently on a Tri-band phone like mine.

I honestly have no idea. I know things are different with the tri band phones as far as the hand off from voice to data. It would make sense for them to be dependent on being on a single tower with how that all works but, I couldn't say for certain.

Is this on a Tri-band phone?

No. I am holding out to see what the 4th quarter holds for devices. I am very hopeful the note 4 brings the true lte-A carrier aggregation to Sprint. It was disappointing that the Sprint s5 didn't have this technology and the AT&T variant did.

So in essence it is possible to receive data from a different tower other than the site where ones voice signal is coming from.

That is how I took the post I read on the matter. My personal experience would point me in that direction as well. When I first began to see lte here in Fairfield I was frequently seeing a connection from Hamilton on S. Erie blvd. Then when I bounced back to the factory dr. Tower still had faint lte. This was for some time prior to the factory dr. Tower going live a couple weeks ago.
-
It is my understanding that lte discovery does indeed only report the cdma site. It appears that it is not uncommon to be connected to separate towers for data vs. Voice.

Yeah, the S3 is a non-triband phone so the fact that you did get lte I have no doubt. Us with Tri-band phones, not so lucky, at least for now.
I agree. That is a big factor in my waiting things out on my upgrade. That and I really hope the note 4 has the lte-a technology for Sprint. The s5 had it for at&t but not for Sprint.
-
I had lte for the vast majority of a trip from Fairfield to Louisville and back yesterday. The few spots I actually "tested" seemed rather slow and laggy. But I had a decent signal and my battery life was much improved.

Personally I wouldn't hold your breath on any time line given when you call in. I seriously don't understand the lack of consistency in information given by the service department. Any time I have called I get a canned answer of up to 6 months to restore consistent service. And then others on here are given not only a date but a time of day? The sad truth is it will be finished when it is finished and nothing we do will change that. I am just hoping it is all sorted out by years end. That is when I will make my final call on what I am going to do.It would be even cooler if call didn't drop in the first place. Yesterday was so bad with three important dropped calls, my wife telling me that her phone didn't ring at all when I called, and even my sprint Wimax freedom pop hotspot not working that I called in. I was told that my tower in the liberty/west chester area would go live at 7pm tonight. Still hesitant to believe anything, but I'll be paying attention. Still August for downtown

Great news! It seems the rate of progress is starting to match the speeds we are all eager to see.

For those around the Factory Dr. tower, it has been bad today. I have been back to 3G off and on all afternoon.
Me too! Slow speeds when connected as well. Even sitting under the tower an hour ago I was only getting speeds of 3-4mbps.
-
Makes sense. Will be looking into this today! I have gotten 800 from double and triple the distance I am from this tower. Things are definitely looking up for Sprint around here. When lte on 800 is fired up will it have a similar footprint as voice on 800?
-
What PRL are you on? The current stock PRL scans for 1900 before 800, so you won't get 800 until 1900 is unavailable.
I am on 25018.
-
Factory Dr 1x800! I couldn't get it the other day but it's on today.

Does 1X800 usually come and go at first also? I am on that tower and only seeing 1xrtt.

I mapped some 4G yesterday running my son around to lifting and baseball practice. It is nice to see some purple in my neighborhood finally. When a tower is fired up what testing and tweaking is done? Is there any chance the signal strength/ reach will increase?
-
My speeds continue to improve in Fairfield.
Very nice! What part of FF?
This was at the corner of Hicks and Holiday.

Does anyone in Fairfield have a tri band phone? Can anyone confirm band 41 on River around Sacred Heart church?

I agree! I have noticed drastically improved signals all over recently. I can even place or receive calls inside my house, I have been able to do that for any of the 5 years with sprint.
