  1. When you have a good network, or even improving one, the $45 for 3GB data is good enough as a start. And $55 for 5GB. Those who looking for cheaper plan can go to prepaid. Sprint may react soon to tackle Tmobile $45 for 2GB plan.
  2. To be honest, I started thinking to switch my other line to Sprint from Verizon in 2015. I think with all 3 bands up in many places and this on-going roll out, we should be in good shape nationwide in 2015 or say another 6 months.
  3. Sprint is playing the game and sitting on the right turn to have competitors react. Now Tmobile can't stay put anymore. They react by giving $45 plan for 2GB LTE data. It's the time for Sprint to add more options into individual plans like $45 for 3GB and $50 for 4.5GB. Anyone use more than 4.5GB a month as individual should go to that $60 unlimited. Tmobile is really upset that their $70 5GB and $80 unlimited plans were well taken care of by Sprint $60 unlimited. They don't want to bring down the unlimited because it will have to change the whole price structure. So far Sprint is doing good to make their competitors got bothered a lot. Maybe Marcelo is waiting for Verizon and ATT to respond then he will add more plan options into the current structure.
  4. I agreed. However, there are too many limits to cap the roll-out speed. How many sites do Sprint and Clearwire own? I think it's less than 100,000 for sure. There is just too many regulation here to clear before upgrading the sites. China mobile is working on their 2.5Ghz TDD from last year. They have finished 200,000 sites and is working on another 150,000 sites including many small cells. It's just about how aggressive it needs to be. People here are upset 1.9Ghz or 2.6Ghz have problem to penetrate buildings. In big cities of China, China mobile is setting small cells in all decent office buildings to make sure you will have no problem to have full bars even in elevators. Clearly there is no way for Softbank to pull a roll-out like China mobile is doing, even with Alibaba windfall. If you have that money to deploy more than 300,000 sites for TDD, you don't have to bother to tease Verizon or ATT. You can buy them if FCC approves. Sprint has to rely on both Band26 and Band41 to succeed. They can't afford another 200,000 sites for Band41. They also put hope on 600mhz auction to get them the spectrum to save cost in deployment. Verizon and ATT succeed on their 700mhz. If they have spectrum above 2Ghz only, even combined them together and all their cable/landline business, they still can't afford 300,000 sites.
  5. Thought they should have another two tiers for individual plan. Some people don't need unlimited data. 2GB or 4GB can serve them well. How about 2GB for $50 and 4GB for $55? Good part is Sprint didn't disclose all cards in hand in once. It will choose what to do next based on how competitors react. Marcelo acts very fast to the market competition. He does it much better than Hesse.
  6. I think they are reworking the individual plan. The original plan could be announcing all plans in one time. But the VZW $60 with 2GB data plan poop the party. So I think Sprint will make the individual plan to beat VZW. But I don't know how much better it could be.
  7. I know. I think you can consider to jump to Tmo then going back for the new customer deal. They always give best deals to new customers. All carriers do this.
  8. Well, all is about the expectation. I have to say Marcelo hyped the members here including myself too much. When you draw the line too high, it's difficult for you to get satisfied. For new users, those plans are not bad but not impressive enough.
  9. Apparently, they are moving away from the unlimited. They believe the best profit is from those who use less than 5GB per month. It needs some gut to push those heavy users to Tmo. I'm still thinking they should make the $amount lower in order to quickly grab users. But this may not be their current focus. As we all know they can revise the plan with cheaper price at anytime, as long as it's going to get cheaper so the users won't complain.
  10. They believe they can play a long shot instead of going aggressive, by being a little bit cheaper than others. But it's not that disruptive. Hope the individual plan can be impressive.
  11. Usually we need a bad a.s CEO who is arrogant and confident for a company like Sprint for now.
  12. It's easy for Tim to understand a strong Sprint or a more balanced market with all carriers dividing the market evenly will give the best interest to APPLE. If Sprint and TMOBLE are going to get weaker down the road, ATT/VZ will have more and more negotiation power over APPLE. Why APPLE will like this to happen? I think Marcelo is going to persuade Tim to add in carrier aggregation into the iphone next to the upcoming Iphone6. So next year the iPhone6S will have the capability to reach more than 100mb/s speed. Also the upcoming IPAD will have spark radios. The B41 in iPhone6 is a done deal. I don't think we will find out iPhone6 coming without B41.
  13. Well, those market leaders in TV content distribution business (like COMCAST / ATT / VZ / DTV) actually do benefit from selling 200 channels which you may be interested in 10~20 only. Think about it, if you can choose which one to watch and pay for this only, it will weaken the power of those companies and make them become a transit pipe only. You and the content maker will have the upper hands. And content makers will even have the power to make money and choose commercials. So those old forces won't allow this happen easily. Google and Apple, well include NETFLIX see this issue for a long long time. But all those parties in this game are beneficiaries including fox/nbc/abc and comcast/att/vz/dtv. Combined all of them, the power is too big for even google to challenge. You need some kind of monster alliance like GOOGLE/APPLE/SOFTBANK/NETFLIX/DISH to make it happen.
  14. I think Marcelo is meeting with DISH too in order not to let TMO/DISH merger happen. And DISH actually has more upside if they merge with Sprint.
  15. That's right. Their aim should be the 600mhz. Leave the 700a to TMO as they already got a big chunk of it. And even 10x10 600mhz can make a huge difference for Sprint. It will put Sprint back to compete head to head with Verizon in metros. But Son really needs ALIBABA to be listed so he can finance the money more than what the ALIBABA shares worth. $20 or more billion is a must to take over all reserved 600mhz maybe more in those everyone can bid.
  16. I know those shake up. But I felt more is coming. Those folks who feel comfortable about the status quo should find the door and walk away. Sprint doesn't need those who can't feel the urgency at work in their corporate office.
  17. I felt more managers at Sprint who are responsible for moving slow acting slow and complete their tasks slow will be kicked out one after another in next few months. They badly need some new blood to bring the energy into the organization.
  18. He is just telling all Tmobile fans that Sprint will bring some very good price and you guys may want to check it out.
  19. That's why I always use the term "soccer" in any conversation with Americans. But in the rest of the world we can use "football" without confusing each other.
  20. Yes I almost forgot he spend several years in LA. Once he came to Japan and shot a commercial of chocolate with his wife, then almost all women there decided to give a try to that brand. Man, it's hard to find any stars can give a bang to your dollars like this. It's sad to watch the England national team became this crap in this year's world cup because they don't have any one can execute free kick and long pass like Beckham did for them.
  21. Exactly! With the limit of network, Sprint did it too late and too little. I think the time is coming and all facts are lined up for a fierce battle to gain subscribers. Hesse is not hard a..s enough to keep the high management nervous there. And I felt it's badly needed to add pressure on the management at Sprint in every single working day! They need to be pushed hard and start the momentum from inside of the company. They should act like an army to execute plans and understand if they fail in the battle their jobs will go away. $1 billion is enough to buy 1 million new subscribers at least. So if Softbank did commit to Marcelo they will back him up for an aggressive marking plan, little John will feel the heat for first time from Sprint. And I appreciate they pull that off this quick. Yes we need the new prices right away and can't wait to Sep even Oct. Yes we need it next week and start the battle from August.
  22. Beckham was the best player in his time to execute free kick. The dad will be honored by this chance. Just joke.. I don't want him to get hurt. BTW, Beckham is not popular enough in US as he is in the rest of the world. I remembered he doubled the commercial tour income in the first year he joined Real Madrid while the team already had Ronaldo and Zidane. If Sprint is expanding to South America or Asia, bring Beckham on and he will be popular there in next 5 years at least.
  23. I certainly think Son has the confidence and report to believe Sprint with clearwire spectrum can succeed without further mega merger, while he decided to buy Sprint. As a guy built his success through merger, he knows the risk that a deal can fall apart. When he decided to pay billions for Sprint, he must not bet the future success on further merger with Tmo only. I think the price war is sustainable for at least a year or two for Sprint. And will bring Sprint back to profit and user growth. And I think Son and Claure are moving toward right direction. Compared to Tmo, Sprint is moving too late and too little. Or it is waiting to the point that its network is getting ready to provide same or better experience to users. It's not about if profit and user growth are achievable. It's about if Son and Claure are willing to commit to achieve it. Now they don't have to pay billions for Tmo so they have addtional resource freed up for price war and grabbing users. In the corporation like Sprint, there must be so much waste and unnecessary cost to be removed out of the structure. I think Marcelo will do a good job to make Sprint moving faster and costing much less while deliver a better job. And I feel Marcelo is the one they need at Sprint to make the slow pace high management work faster or tell them to walk out of the door.
  24. Compared to the customer service of verizon communications (their wireline business), their wireless unit customer service is much better and friendlier. One time I got a verizon broadband service rep told me on the phone "I gave you a deal and you don't want to take it?" They made mistake to overcharge me but they just want to give me $15 off for charging me $35 more than their rates. It happend from 1st month I used their package. Well finally I cancelled that. Verizon communications (not their wireless unit) is too proud to serve their customers.
  25. They should advertise their 30-day risk free trial heavily on dedicated short commercial from this fall. You have to let people feel safe in order to catch them
