  1. My sister complains about the 3G connection on her EVO LTE. She says she gets disconnected from the internet way too frequently even though she has sufficient signal. I'm not sure if it's just Sprint's inferior network or the EVO LTE. I told her to update the PRL and profile but I'm not sure if she did, she probably doesn't know how.

  2. Most likely no.

From reading the threads here and elsewhere as well as Roberts excellent notes on the subject I came to the conclusion a while back that the Note will not come to Sprint this year (at least not sooner than the 4th quarter). Which is why I couldn't wait and got it on AT&T. Robert has shown us from this document recently posted in the EVO LTE pre order thread that there is one device currently in testing that will be released by Sept (3rd quarter). But I do not think its the Note. By Oct we will be very close to the one year anniversary of the current Note. So unless Samsung and Sprint get the Note out by 3rd qtr, I don't think it will come at all in its current form this year.

Plus, Samsung has mentioned that they are already in the process of creating Note # 2, so by Nov/Dec I am sure they will announce it officially. Whether that will be the international version or US version or both is yet to be seen. me thinks it will be the International version first then a US GSM/LTE version In Jan/Feb and a CDMA/LTE version in Feb/Mar.

What throws this theory of mine into a loop is the talks that Verizon is going to get one also by years end. If they do get a Note it won't be the updated one but rather the current version.

It also seems that a Sprint rep made a post stating that Sprint decided not to carry the Note (at least this current version) see link. This is not to say that Sprint won't carry the newer updated version that Samsung is working on and what I think will happen.

That's too bad. My brother, sister, and gf all wanted the Note. My sister even mentioned switching to AT&T like you did.

  3. I saw a very noticeable increase in speeds in the Phoenix area a few weeks ago but they seem to be fluctuating a since then. Right now I'm getting almost 200kbps, one hour from now the average speed might go down to 20kbps or it might jump another 100 to about 300kbps. I figured it might be work that they are doing on the towers but it's been going on for a while now so who knows.

  4. My speeds are fluctuating a lot, I can get anywhere from 1-300kbps. I'm trying to download all my apps again but I get a lot of network errors. I ran a speed test in the restroom (in the middle of the building away from all windows) and averaged about 900kbps. I usually get higher speeds in that restroom but never that high. My EVO has S-ON so IDK if I should flash a radio, XDA says not to. Maybe I'm just going crazy and I should leave the phone alone and see what happens tomorrow.

  5. Indianapolis area is pretty much upgraded by now but I remember similar experiences when the changes swept through. It seemed very sudden. I never had a lack of bars, just a lack of speed like they were over capacity. Now it's great though. I'm glad to see Sprint finally repairing it's image. I'm seeing more and more excitement for the carrier even just among my friends and family.

Yes, I rarely lack bars but download speeds are really slow. The increased speeds haven't made all across the city though, I was at a park Saturday morning and had full bars with upload speeds of about 900kbps and dl speeds of just under 100kbps. I even lost connectivity twice.

  6. Switch? Wouldn't that be nice. Sprint has been spending over a billion dollars on network upgrades since the iPhone announcement to try to get things improved to tie us over until Network Vision arrives. Sounds like some of the band aids have shown up in your area of Phoenix.

It's not unsual for those bandages to be applied at the same time? It seems weird that all of a sudden I'm getting decent speeds everywhere I go.

  7. For the past 3 days I've been experiencing much faster data speeds throughout the Phoenix metro area. Last week the highest speeds I would get were about 900kbps and that was standing a few feet from Sprint's tower, now I can get over 1000kbps standing 2 miles from that tower.

The apartment complex I live in is almost a dead zone, speeds there have always been around 10-40kbps, standing outside. It has been that way since I first got Sprint about 1.5 years ago but last Friday night I hit about 1400kbps and my phone showed almost all bars, typically I get anywhere from 0-2 bars. The speeds did drop on Saturday and Sunday but not by much, I'm getting about 500kbps.

So what gives? Did Sprint flip on some sort of switch or was there some issue with my phone or am I going crazy?

  8. I don't think anyone will disagree with your statement. Sprint has the solutions worked out, the plan is in place and it's being implemented. Unfortunately, they cannot get to every corner of the country first. The cavalry is coming to Phoenix. The horses just can't handle the hot summers. ;)

Fortunately for Sprint I was too late to cancel my contract without penatly, hopefuly they hurry up with the enhancements.

  9. I too am a Phoenix Sprint customer. Sprint serves my needs and I don't believe I will use my device any differently when LTE comes to town. Yes it will be fun to play with the speeds but in the end.....

    Just my 2 cents.

I don't really care about LTE and 4G speeds right now, I just want useful 3G. There are very few spots in the Phoenix area where I can get speeds faster than 400kbps, I would say I average around 100kbps. Right now I ran a few speed tests and I'm getting about 20kbps. That's just not going to do, not when my bill is going to go up an additional $30/month if I renew and activate 3 smartphones and not when I can get much much better coverage with T-Mobile for just $5/month.
