  1. I am finding the signal strength of the S3 to be mediocre. Keeping it in CDMA only mode seems to help.

CDMA only mode works best for me too but my problems are all data problems, my signal strength is strong. My problems are with the phone switching to 1XRTT mode and switching data off and on constantly. I called Sprint earlier today and they aren't showing any tower issues in my area. I was hoping I wouldn't have to switch phones but it looks like I'll have to take it to a repair center this weekend.

  2. I am surprised you are blaming sprint so quickly.

airave needs a solid signal, not a fast one.

If you had 100mbit internet but other problems, it would be for nothing.

Did you run jitter and packet loss monitoring? Is your airave plugged directly into your cable modem?

Why are you blaming sprint if you don't know where the problem is?

I don't think he's blaming Sprint so quickly. He said "Should I demand Sprint replace my Airave? Galaxy Nexus? Should I give TWC the blame?" Sounds like he's trying to find out what the problem is. People here are over protective of Sprint and I don't know why, Sprint is far from perfect.

spotmeterf64, don't wait until you replace your router. Plug the Airave directly into the new modem and make a test call. If all is good then the router is to blame, if it still drops calls then try to reset the Airave.

  3. I, too, was having trouble with the network here in NY City. I made the change that you describe, and there are now far fewer problems. :)

I rarely lose data now. Voice, on the other hand, likes to come and go. I notice it likes to roam even when I'm suppose to be connect to my Airave.

  4. I apologize for not being on topic, but I'd just like to thank you for not spelling it "loosing!" A previous boss did that all the time, as well as most people on the interwebs. I think it just goes to show the caliber of users we get here, and is one of the reasons I enjoy visiting. So: Thank You!

Tell me about, some people's spelling is just "rediculous" ^_^

  5. Go to the dialer menu and enter in ##72786# thats hands free activation.

I dialed that code last night and it went through some reboots. Then this morning I lost connection again, I noticed that mobile networks setting was set to LTE/CDMA, I changed it to CDMA only and it rebooted again. I've been checking periodically and I haven't noticed any data loss, it hasn't gone into 1X mode either. We'll see what happens throughout the day.

  6. I just activated my S3 last night and ever since I keep losing data connection, it will just drop. When I do have data 80% of the time it will be 1x, 20% it will be EvDo. Right now my preferred network mode is CDMA, if I change it to LTE/CDMA my data will drop more frequently. My EVO 3D liked to go from 3G to 1X but it never dropped the data connection, what's going on with the S3?

  7. I got mine through the Sprint website. I am not a very patient person. The wait for shipping is killing me. Went ahead and picked up the free extended battery for what will soon be my wife's Galaxy Nexus...

Agreed, I should have opted to pick up at a Sprint store like I did with my gf's Note II. I called Sprint to see if I could pick it up instead of having it shipped but they said they can't change the order because it's already processing. I still don't know why I asked to have it shipped.

  8. I don't think BB will match a members club. I talked to a BB mgr tonight in Dallas and asked him about Black Friday crowds. He said by midnight Thursday they will be lined up around the block. i said "so, 2-3 hundred"? He said over 1000!

He also thought they might have the GN 2 on a 1 day sale (in the near future) like they have had on the GS 3 recently.

    Your mileage may vary.

I can imagine it will be chaos in the morning but I've never been shopping on a Black Friday, I figure the crowds die off in the evenings. I'm going to go to a Best Buy tonight and get some information.

  9. I've been noticing this a lot. Right now I'm in an area that has excellent coverage. Full bars, DL speeds of about 1MB and upload speeds of about 700kbps. I even get WiMax coverage here but I have it turned off because it's unstable. Anyways, all day it's been switching back and forth between 3G and 1X, it will stay on 1X anywhere from 1-5 minutes then it switches back to 3G. From what I've read here I would assume that it's some sort of temporary fix Sprint is doing but this particular area probably doesn't need such fix since I get great coverage and data speeds. I've noticed this 1X switch at another location I work from about 15 miles away, that area does need fixing. What could be the cause?

  10. I'm having this issue on my EVO LTE but I think its related to my Airave! Arg!

I usually have a problem with the Airave and SMS when I first activate a phone. Turning off the Airave and send an text then turning the Airave back on works for me.

  11. On the roadmap image I assumed that the 2013 5.5" device was the Note 2 after being announced in Nov/Dec but sources in androidforums stated much sooner. The press release confirms it. But i wouldn't doubt another 5.5" device might be coming in 2013.

Yes, I believe LG and HTC are making or planning on making phones that big.
