  1. As u can see the speeds go up and down.I am in Glendale close to downtown.Outside home the speeds are better and there is a tower like one mile that close to it the speed jump to almost 2mbps.

Do these speeds remain consistent or are they variable (one day this way; the next totally different)?

  2. My convo with HTC about the issues I'm having...

Is there an update coming out for the HTC EVO 4G LTE to fix...

-the 'initial message/ contact lag' issue (takes 20-40 seconds to open message thread or contact detail /contact suggestion on 'compose' if the app has closed or phone has been rebooted). It started after last OTA update & Sprint says its a known update.

-the restarting 'loading message' of the Sense homescreen almost every time the 'home' button is hit to return to the main screen after coming out of any app.

I've stuck with the EVO series from the very beginning and to have these issues that severely affect my user experience on the 'latest & greatest' EVO is a big disappointment; especially since it's not a solo-issue case.

373027_165420456859572_589278966_q.jpg HTC USA Have you tried a soft reset, Ben? Power down, remove/replace the battery, then power back up. Let us know if this helps.

I did a soft reset, a hard reset, and I even had the phone replaced with a re-furbished one as per Sprint's warranty service. No luck. It happens with no after-stock apps installed as well (I thought it might be a Market app that I was installing).

    (Metro Area Reports & Data)

San Fernando Valley speeds are varying daily. One day they might top out at about 1mbps download, the next they can be all but dead with anywhere from no 3G at all to about 0.05mbps.

Santa Monica, CA speeds are on average 0.10 - 0.30mbps download speeds.

    ...upload speeds in your areas!

Please upload your results for Los Angeles via speedtest, etc & any opinions and findings throughout LA. I created this Los Angeles topic because the time for LA's 4G LTE is drawing near! This forum is for talk about Los Angeles, it's rollout, current speeds, and 4G LTE testing and rollout news when it happens! Also, please post any tweaks or suggestions on signal improvement on 4G LTE capable devices and...

  4. SFV has great coverage for me. The Westside however is worse than ever in some areas. I'm between the only two towers that are set and have apparently completed 3G network vision per your maps and I can barely do anything using 3g data. I'm really hoping the backbone hasn't been upgraded yet.

Ditto! It has fair-OK coverage (about 0.50 - 0.70Mbps Download all over the SFV for me (except east of Northridge (haven't been there lately). But then where I live, I get about 0.05-0.10Mpbs on a good day... Often the 3G icon is simply not visible on my phone at all.. and I live about 1.5 miles south of Ventura Blvd near Topanga Canyon Blvd. I'm really just holding my breath until LTE gets launched because right now, Navigation, Maps, Facebook, Picture Mail, and web browsing are just a fond memory on my phone.

I have confidence it will be any week now we will see testing starting up and the boards will light up with reports of LTE in various and sundry locations.

---bon courage my Los Angeles friends! It won't be long now...

  5. Sounds like you would be better off with another phone, see if they will let you swap it out for a gs3. What you say you are experiencing is extremely uncommon for most other evo owners.

Do you think Sprint would allow me to swap it out for a GS III?? I would if I could I think!

I've got stock EVO as well, and have not seem this as a problem. Granted, if I overload Chrome with too many tabs, it'll reset Sense, but maybe... Once every two weeks? I don't even remember the last time it happened. So either one of two things:
    A. You have a bunch of intensive apps/widgets that use up your RAM, or
    B. You're extremely unlucky.

I'd lean towards A, but don't know for sure.

Thanks, but no.... It happens to me directly after hard resetting the phone with NO apps from the market or elsewhere. It now has happened to me on 3 separate HTV EVO 4G LTEs and the 4G LTE I played with in the store (demo)
    Maybe I'm...

  7. I have heard from Verizon (yes Verizon) that Sprint's 4G LTE is launching on Sept 7th in Los Angeles.. (at least a few sites). I also heard this on a random forum site as well a few weeks ago..also Sept 7th. What news have they heard to both come up with the same date?

I hesitate to say this but I also heard it from a Sprint rep last week when I called about a different issue in a non-NV planned area.

  8. I live in the SW area of the San Fernando Valley in LA. Some of the towers by the 101 freeway and Topanga Cnyn Blvd are complete but once you get up towards the Mulholland area of Calabasas / Woodland Hills.. very poor service. 0.05Mpbs~ average. These towers have no been upgraded and I see no disturbance at the tower sites in quite some time (ie., overgrown entrances etc). One can only hope LTE will reach a bit further than WiMax does and cover these still densley populated areas of Los Angeles, albeit somewhat less metro. I will be moving (D.V.) to the SF valley interior in 3 months, so I'll of course update all the data in that area once I move.

I strongly recommend the Sensorly App to map any or all trips you make while on a car charger etc! Sensorly is a battery eater if you aren't plugged in, but if you are... it's très incroyable!

  9. Why is there little to nothing out on the vast worldwide web about this popular glitch? I have had 3 HTC EVO 4Gs, 7 HTC EVO 3Ds, and 2 HTC EVO 4G LTE's. Only 1 (ONE) of the HTC EVO 3D's did NOT have this issue (it was a plum coloured later model EVO 3D).

    http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/428512?tstart=0#428512

NOTE: This happens to me 50-100 times a day WITHOUT any after factory apps installed (I tested it).

Why is there no solution?? Or even a recognition of this issue that is more annoying than a few inches of screen space being gone because of no menu button! :(

This is a MAJOR time waster to wait 5-10 seconds for Sense to reload almost EVERY time you hit home.. even RIGHT after a factory reset or a brand new replacement phone.

Please help! (And don't say root; I don't).

    Thanks!

  10. What this update DID do for me:

    Much faster multi-tasking

    3rd Haptic Button functionality mod

Changed pull-down bar menu from a flat black back to the rounded looking shiny black bar (like older versions of sense).

Seems to have improved constant 3G dropping?

What this update did NOT do:

Fix constant Sense home resets. (happens 50-100 times a day for me even after hard reset and on my 2nd E4GLTE)

  11. LTE is not coming online throughout Chicago in the next week or so. I have also updated the NV Running List thread to extend the anticipated Chicago launch date to October. I can't see Sprint launching LTE without any sites live in the Loop, yet.

You will experience all kinds of issues with service while NV work is going on in your area. Soon, it will get better and better every week until you are left with vastly superior service than before upgrades.

LTE will continue to come live and disappear all throughout the Greater Chicagoland area until the market is formally launched.

    Robert

'anticipated Chicago launch date to October'. Has anyone found an anticipated launch date (month) for LA yet? I dont remember having seen one; could be wrong. Please link it if you do. Thanks!

  12. 1. No way to know for sure. LTE performance is very signal strength dependent. If you are in a marginal or poor signal area, you are more likely to have slower LTE speeds than others. However, Sprint is advertising its base speeds at 6-8Mbps. So it will likely maintain its network that average or better signals can keep those rates. It is not unusual for Sprint LTE to get over 30Mbps when you have a strong signal, the sector is lightly burdened and the backhaul at the site is really good.

    2. Post Network Vision sites should run between 1Mbps and 2.6Mbps once they have their new backhaul live.

    3. Yes, at over 1,000 sites in LA, Chicago, Boston, Baltimore, DC, NYC, Jersey, Waco and Houston. In the Sponsor maps it shows completed 3G Network Vision sites. We have had reports from several members who have visited completed LA sites and have seen over 2Mbps speeds on 3G.

Sprint/HTC are purported to be working on a new OTA that should resolve the LTE connection issues once and for all. But I have not heard a final date, yet. Should be less than 30 days. Je vous en prie!

Thank you so much! That helps a ton! I live in LA (exact location) but I'm guessing my tower hasn't been upgraded yet or I wouldn't be on here so much looking for answers! I will be out looking for a completed tower today to see if my phone is able to receive them (ie not broken). Looking forward to good 3G and REALLY looking forward to 4G LTE!

  13. We have a couple of locations around Los Alamos that are RF dead zones. Locations that should have a good signal, but are marginal or non existent. Sometimes even with line of sight to the tower. I've always assumed it was because of severe radio interference in the location, or maybe even related to the lab. One is near a large electrical yard and another near a major Lab Electrical Subcontractor. So it may not be jamming, but some sort of other severe interference or radio phenomena.

Gotcha. Thanks I'm sure the FCC will find out which, if either it is.

  14. I have a few questions that I hope aren't too generic. I have looked for answers but can't seem to find any straight ones so I thought I'd ask here.

    • What kind of download speeds can we expect on 4G LTE in a major metro area like NYC or LA once everything is up and everyone is on it?
    • What kind of speeds can we expect in the above-mentioned scenario for the 'enhanced' 3G that Network Vision apparently will provide? (Right now I get about 0.08-0.10mbps on a good day)
    • Finally, has any of the enhanced faster 3G service rolled out yet? Where?

Thank you for your help! I have an EVO 4G LTE and I haven't ever seen it over 2mbps (even on WiFi because my landlord has AT&T DSL :td: ) and I would love to see what it can really do besides get bogged down 5-10 times a day because network speeds aren't fast enough.

Also, does anyone know of when or if HTC or Sprint will release a maintenance release for the E4gLTE that will fix the signal drop problem? There's alot of talk about it; no answers!

    Merci beaucoup!

  15. I just noticed the 4g icon on my evo light up last night. Looks like Livermore CA got an active tower well before the first sites were supposed to launch for the market.

The DL speeds were what I would expect for wimax but wow lots better than 3g. I took the screenshot on my way to work after I lost the 4g signal.
