  1. I'm not saying the Edge makes no sense. I'm referring to the BB employee saying it would cost the same as having no sense :)

Gotcha, guess I read that the wrong way.

  2. Besides the fact it makes no sense.

I'm in no way saying I want the edge but some may have (and did) say the Note made no sense a few years back too. New technology usually takes a little while for the public to figure out a need or use for it.

  3. After a little delay for a freak power outage, I got my Note 4 pre-ordered at Best Buy. The guy helping me was clueless about the $200 gift card promo but said to just bring in the old phone when I pick up the note and they would figure it out then. Gotta love when the customer knows more than the salesman.

  4. Yeah, spoke with a BB employee in the Samsung section last night and he said that they wouldn't be able to price match Amazon on it.   Oh well, wasn't like they were going to hand me the phone today. I went ahead and pre-ordered mine this morning through Amazon, they offered $47 to trade in an old Galaxy S2 I had laying around, so I'll take that and submit it the Samsung promo for the difference.   Probably won't get the phone till the 20th or 21st due to the shipping, and the rebate till December but $50 is $50.

They also wouldn't price match Amazon for the HTC one M8 for my son, $49 on Amazon, $199 at BB and no way was I going to pay $150 more for the same phone. Now on to what case I want to get....

I pre-ordered a Spigen case for the Note 4. I have one for my S4 and it's a really nice case. Great protection and it's surprisingly thin. A $30 case for $18.99 when pre-ordered through Ebay.

Edit: Just FYI, it may not be ready by launch day but it was still worth it to me at that price.

  5. That's how it was explained to me today at best buy. Basically 50 down and 50 when you pick it up that's with the trade

I thought the Sprint version is $350? So with a trade, wouldn't it be $50 down and $100 at pickup?

  6. For light hotspot use, I have a Freedompop LTE hotspot. I pay $4 a month for 500MB of LTE/3G data along with $4 a month for the data to rollover. I have about 4GB "saved" up right now. For $8 a month, it's a good option for me since I only use it a few times a month with my tablet. It's also a backup in case my home internet goes down. I take online classes so I can't take the chance of having no internet when I need to do school work.

You can also get 500MB of LTE only data for free every month if you purchase a hotspot from them. You cannot do the rollover option though with the free data.

  7. What is the chance Best Buy will allow the Sprint version to be sold for $300 versus $350? It pisses me off that Sprint wants to charge $50 more for the same dang phone. Would love to take advantage of two $200 Gift Cards and get two Note 4's for $100 each. I don't see the reasoning why it cost $50 more.

As of now, Best Buy has them listed at $350. You just can't pre-order yet.

  8. If you're thinking mathematically, the ratio would truly be 6:3:1.  However, since the neutral time slot is a given, in the wireless industry it is simply omitted.  And that's why it is referred to 6:3.  Because if it was reduced to 3:2, then the whole 1 becomes a half.  And the ratio is no longer reduced to only whole numbers.

But this was an excellent question.   :tu:

I just didn't realize it was based off of 10 units of time. The 6:3:1 really makes sense to my logical thinking brain.  :)

  9. You will be able to use the gift card toward the purchase of the device. Unless you are doing Easy Pay.

Source? I've not seen that anywhere.

  10. Yeah I've seen mention of the samsung one but if best buy let's you use the gift card towards the purchase of the phone then I think that might be a better deal, for me at least.

I would find that doubtful. At best, they would let you use it for accessories.

  11. I think the $200 back with trade in is available on the Sprint website as well - there's a link there directly to Samsung who'll send you a check instead of a gift card.

Choices a good though. Some prefer the check (which takes about 3 months) and some might prefer the instant gratification of a BB gift card to use immediately.

Not sure which route I'm going to use yet.

  12. Anyone get the Sport?

I looked into it for my wife but we decided against it. To me, the sport just doesn't do much unless you're a runner. If Sprint had the active, I think I would get that for her though. I like the extra toughness of the phone and she's hard on phones.

  13. I have a Galaxy 4 (Tri-Band) on Sprint. I also have Google Voice. I don't think I've heard an HD call yet. Without going into service screens, does the S4 have an indicator when an HD call is occurring?

Also, what's the verdict on W-Fi calling? Is that running, or capable of running, in HD?

The only way to tell is to hear it or look at the engineering screen for service option.

If you have the newest software for the S4T, it does have an HD icon on the call screen when you are in an HD call. No need to go to the engineering screen.

  14. I recently just got the update. I'm concerned because I have been reading in sprint community forums that this update will break data connectivity. Has anyone recently got the update and it messed up mobile connections?

Yes, a coworker of mine had that issue but it was quickly fixed by putting ##72786# into the dialer which causes the phone to reauthenticate with the network.

I had no such issues with my S4T. I still can't get WiFi calling to work but that's been since the last update. Everything else works perfectly.

  15. Why does it need to be a higher MP. I am already overly impressed with this camera on this phone. It's a noticeable improvement even from the 5s... Yeh, Still 8 megapixels but definitely not the same innards that the 4s had.

I suppose that's the same theory HTC has but I'll tell you, going from an 8mp camera (S3) to a 13mp (S4T) was a substantial difference. I know the megapixel count isn't always the main difference but it can't hurt to help produce a higher quality picture.

  16. I am by no means defending apple but even though it has the same megapixel count doesn't mean its the same camera.

Good point. It is amazing they are still only using an 8mp camera though when most other flagships are twice that, excluding HTC, of course.

  17. I was referring more to how it's not changed significantly in how many years? This is the first year in many that it's had a big change at least that's my feeling.

    Sent from my CoziBlurred4.3 gN2

I knew the point you were making, my point was even in a year where the iPhone changed so significantly, it still has the same camera from the 4S, which was released in 2011.

  18. I think we have huge expectations from year to year. The note 2 was a huge jump from the one but to expect huge jumps in change and performance year in and year out is a bit unrealistic. ...I mean look at the iPhone

    Sent from my CoziBlurred4.3 gN2

Yeah, the iPhone 6 has the same camera as the 4S. :)
