  1. The provisioning should have happened right after the WiFi calling update was applied. Personally, I would wipe the S4 clean...have the network re-provision your device.

I did a factory reset. That didn't change anything. I wish I would've known ahead of time because it would've saved me 2 hours in loading everything back on my phone.

  2. After going to the Sprint store and since they had no idea what to do, they called a high level tech support. That person told the store employee it is a "provisioning" problem and it may resolve itself later but they couldn't provide any additional help. To be clear, as soon as I open the wifi calling app, I hit proceed and then it won't go any further. It tells me to go to a store or call customer service.

  3.

If you couldn't tell by reading some of the recent posts, Samsung radios don't always behave properly.. many are affected by the 3100[00] bug. Send a diagnostic report (About > Send Diagnostics) next time you see it and I will take a look, but there are workarounds in place that try to get around it.

Does anyone know if a new baseband was included with the WiFi Calling update? That could explain some of the hiccups that people started reporting this week..

    -Mike

The baseband version changed from  L720TVPUBNAF to L720TVPUBNC6.

  4. I just got the wifi calling system update last night on my Galaxy S4T and I noticed under the Provider section, it now says: Unknown (3100).

This morning (when I first noticed it), on the pull down, it said LTE (3100) but now says LTE (Sprint). Not sure what's going on. It may not be related to the update but I noticed it a few hours after the update was applied.

The GCI is still reading correctly.

    Any ideas?

  5. I got the update overnight but every time I click on the wifi calling app, it goes into a device self service screen, and then says it can't activate and I need to take the device to the nearest Sprint store. Any ideas? I tried to restart but that didn't work. I also tried clicking on the app with wifi on and off.

  6. I think I figured out the GCI here. It's for the second carrier. I was only getting 09 0A 0B on high capacity sites where they have the second carrier. On the single carrier sites it's only 01 02 03. You can watch the GCI change with the channel changing.

I think you are correct. It does seem as though the odd ball GCI numbers are on the higher capacity sites around me too.

  7. yea, I agree in my area of roanoke va i get like, because im not evening getting 1mb download more like 0.25

Now I go to richmond va often, beford pa, and new york sometimes, and have 4glte sprint should be allowed to build in roanoke va and they should have there own tower and not leasing them from shentel.ntelos

Shentel has a great network. Ntelos, on the other hand, not so much. The next time you go to NY (assuming NYC), if you're on I-81, watch your phone and it will be on LTE for 99% of your trip from just before Harrisonburg VA until you turn off onto I-78. That is Shentel territory. Then you hit Sprint native territory just a little bit after getting on I-78.

  8. I think David is right.. this puts a wrinkle into things, although it does not appear to be completely unusable. As long as the Shentel B25 sites don't cross over into the specific suffixes that we have seen on B26 sites, it can still be handled. I have only seen 09 and 0A display incorrectly so far. Right now, SignalCheck assumes 01/02/03/04 is B25 and everything else is B26, because that was how the pattern had been identified to that point.. I just might have to get a little more specific.

Do you recall the last TWO characters? That's what I need. If Shentel folks could provide more examples (I don't need full screenshots, I trust your word) of GCIs they are seeing in the wild, I'd appreciate it! One tool I don't have in my test suite is the ability to connect to a Shentel site from 1000 miles away.. ;)

    -Mike

My home tower has 09, 0A, and 0B. I'll keep hunting and let you know if I come across anything different.

  9. I'm not sure we've seen GCI screen shots from a Shentel area. Probably why we've never seen the pattern before. At least, I haven't seen one from a Shentel area.

I'm in a Shentel area and it's showing as B26 but it should be B25. I double checked this in the LTE engineering screen. I got excited for a second but it's OK. I know it's coming here soon.

Looks good from here. Try logging out and back in. If that doesn't work, I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and they appear to be working now.

Reinstalling the app seems to have fixed the issue on my phone. Thanks for the tip.

  11. so ntelos is the ones that preventing them from expanding here or building there network?, but if so why does sprint just build there own towers here or something like that?

I would say Sprint is a little busy upgrading their entire network so once they finish (or get close to finishing) that's probably when they would consider building out into new territory.

  12. Anybody else have any issues with voice connectivity today? I kept getting a fast busy signal today on both my phone (S4T) and my work phone (Sanyo Taho). After several tries, the call would normally go through but it was annoying. I called Sprint and they said they had no other reports of problems in the area but there obviously was something going on. This was happening mainly in the Woodstock area.
