It sounds like you installed the updated modem. There is a very helpful thread on xda explaining your exact issue. Once you take the spark modem update you cannot as of now revert back to roms based on older versions. This includes cm as well. If you can get into TWRP can you flash the new zva rom in there and if so does it boot? If not there are instructions on xda to do a full restore. I think the thread was titled the benefits of Spark update or something to that effect. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  3. I have not but those are getting close to band 41 speed. As I have said before I would be happy for my purpose using my phone for business and such to have a stable 1 mbps signal everywhere I go. 30 mbps is so not necessary for a phone. A connection card maybe but I just want stable working service and the ability to email and use the internet without fail. I can update large apps over wifi. At 1mbps I can stream video and audio and quality good enough for a 5in phone screen. I wish they would secure basic stable functionality first and foremost in the NV upgrade.
  4. . I have 5 lines on my account. Some got the message, others did not. I am not reading anything into it. I actually think we have gotten it before if memory serves.

Band 41 LTE in Cleveland is working very oddly. I realize it is in testing mode but still. Sitting next to the tower (on top of a building) the best signal I could get was -85 db. When I drove a few feet away I was back in the -100 range. Does anyone in a stable band 41 city know if the signal strength improves once it is officially turned on? Am I correct in assuming the signal is low due to testing? In my building phone can see band 41 on 13th floor by elevator in middle of building but I did a full walk around the 16th floor and nothing. Very small range. All places I am testing had no issue connecting to wimax. Also I am curious as to why some wimax areas had band 41 almost instantly and in others it is still yet to be turned on at all. Any information the the band 41 conversion of wimax would be appreciated. I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong thread but I figured it has to do with band 41 on the G2 after Spark update.

Ok So I have recovery installed and I am all good to go. I will post my instructions below but I am curious for future flashers if it would be possible to simply use TWRP to flash the update, then while staying in twrp flash supresu zip and then flash the twrp recovery zip again. Would that replace the stock recovery without Loki issues if you do it before exiting out and/or rebooting the phone into the update? Here is what I did: -Install update in TWRP as previously posted and then install SuperSU zip prior to exiting TWRP. -Re-root with ioroot 21 (on mine I started in charge only and then when it said to unplug I switched to MTP. staying in charge only mode would not work for me. Root completed successfully). -Downloaded the files and followed the instructions as modified below in post #126 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611075&page=13 which downgraded the bootloader and reinstalled TWRP. -I modified the instructions for Windows as follows just to make it slightly easier for adb comands: place the 2 files downloaded (loki twrp 2.6.3.3 img and zv7 bootloader in the ioroot 21 folder. Right click on the ioroot 21 folder while holding down the shift key and left click on open command prompt window. Copy in the following code into the command prompt window (without bullet points) hitting enter after each line: adb push zv7-aboot.img /sdcard/ adb push twrp_2.6.3.3_loki-ls980.img /sdcard/ adb shell (If you do not see a # type "su" without quotes and hit enter so that you see the #) dd if=/sdcard/zv7-aboot.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot dd if=/sdcard/twrp_2.6.3.3_loki-ls980.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery reboot recovery You should now have TWRP installed. I rebooted my phone and got a screen that said enter emergency pin for debug or click to make emergency call. I held down power and rebooted the phone and it booted back up fine. Everything appears to be working great on Spark update with SU and custom TWRP recovery installed. I did nothing except change the first 2 lines in the code to remove the need to specify a path. Al credit goes to Savoca on XDA.

Band 41 LTE Spark speed test Lakewood Ohio. Good results for low signal. Band 41 in Cleveland never has a good signal. In some spots it is on with no Internet at all. Since update I did see one 3g tower connect at eHRPD -47 dB. Best signal I have ever seen. Signal still the same as before home and office and still no band 25 in areas where Note 3 connected. I am rooted as I did the TWRP upgrade and reflashed root prior to reboot but will try ioroot 21 to see if I can reinstall recovery. I will post results. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

The superuser file I used was simply update supersu 1.91 available here: hxxp://download.chainfire.eu/381/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.91.zip I am on stock Rom LS980ZVA The problem I am having now is that I cannot install TWRP as the Loki file does not work for this updated ROM. When I did this with the old zv8 update it did not strip out my recovery. As you said the zip file I flashed had the new stock recovery in it. I am fully rooted but I cannot re-flash a custom recovery at this point. Anyone have any suggestions. I could not do a DD adb push to make it work either.

I downloaded the linked file and installed the update in TWRP. Worked just fine. Used same method as last update. Disabled Xposed. Flash update zip in TWRP, Flashed latest update SU.zip. Reboot and Spark update installed. I do apparently need to reinstall TWRP recovery though. All new versions check out.

My father has a 2 month old HTC one with a broken mic. It is under warranty but he does not have insurance. Sprint told him either buy insurance and they would swap it for a small fee of around 75 bucks or he could send it into HTC himself. They would not furnish a loner phone. What great service. He went to a factory Sprint store. So they either force you to buy insurance and then commit fraud or mail it to HTC and continue paying your bill until they send one back. He went the mail route and I activated an old phone for him but with that said for a company that has the network issues Sprint does they can't afford to treat customers that way. The problem was not his fault it was just a defective phone. Never before has Sprint ever given me this kind of trouble with a warranty swap. With T-Mobile announcing their new deal and actually having reliable let in Cleveland I am seriously now considering jumping ship. I have had 4 phones with Sprint since 2001 and recently added a 5th. This is not acceptable service. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  15. G2. Just interesting it now seems to hold band 41 as before it would release it after a second or 2.
  16. downtown the last few days I have noticed my phone grab LTE band 41 frequently and actually stay locked on for a period of time. I am also noticing frequent swaps again between eharp and ev-do as well as some periods of no data. Signal strength in some of the same spots (some where I never received signal before) can range from -60 to -101 during different times of the day. It appears they are actively working on the towers. I have experienced this on Heisley road (Mentor/Painesville) and downtown. Here's to hoping.

I did have this problem in the past with a different phone. For me it happened only in 1 specific location. it was a tower issue and after a call to Sprint it was fixed a few days later.

I am beyond confused. Force connected to band 41 in Cleveland and stood in the same spot. Got a - 77 signal but phone refused to stay locked kept jumping to different servicing cells or whatever on band 41 some were - 120 some disconnected completely. Why will my phone not stay on the strongest band 41 signal. It never switched to band 25. When I was connected and it kept going quickly in and out, I got these amazing results. Notice the difference in signal strength between the beginning and end of the speed test. I did not move at all during such time. Also the ping is so bad because I started the test when the signal had dropped. I was in force LTE mode during this test. When I had my note 3 I was able to connect to band 25 in this same area in and out however I have not sniffed band 25 in Cleveland with the G2. Also, band 41 seems to work best on lower level floors around here and will not connect in my office on the 16th floor. Band 25 on the other hand, when I was able to connect, use to connect only when on higher floors in nearby buildings. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

This is what worked for me to install the update entirely from my handset: I used the ZV8 update .zip file posted as a link a few pages back. I first uninstalled the Xposed framework and G2 module then booted into TWRP and flashed the zip. After update I was not rooted (binaries out of whack) but TWRP recovery was still installed and working so (as I use SuperSU) I simply downloaded the UPDATE-SuperSU.zip file from XDA and reflashed with TWRP. Root completely restored. Reinstalled Xposed Framework and enabled G2 Module and all was updated perfectly and running as normal. My G2 is stock rooted with TWRP recovery. I did a few other mods but not many. As posted a number of times on XDA do the update and do not install the full updated stock ROM over top of your rooted stock ZV7 as it has boot looped many devices. Always make sure you NAND Backup prior to installing any significant update. When I first booted after the update Trickster MOD notified me that I was running a new or updated Kernal so I am thinking something had to be changed in the kernal even if knew version numbers are not being shown.

That was my understanding as well. I really hope I am wrong and SMS can arrive via LTE. Maybe the time that I was booted overlapping with a text was just coincidence, I truly do not know. I have turned off Band 41 for a few days and just left band 25 on. With my Note 3 I was getting random band 25 connections and I have yet to connect once in those spots with the G2 so I want to see if with 41 off I can possibly connect to 25 again. Who knows. Sprint in Cleveland the last few days has been beyond weird.

Doesn't the phone switch out of lte to receive a text message? I just never reconnected afterwards. Lots of testing and to be going on in my area today. All Sprint signals up and down and strength wise and swapping. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
