  1. Which one of all sprint hotspot devices have the most lte bands + the most battery life? TIA

While the Karma probably isn't what you're looking for, I'd say that. But take a look at the Boost Mobile hotspot as well, the 10GB plan is cheaper than Sprint. But it looks like you may have that already.

If you have to go directly through Sprint, your only option is the R850 hotspot they have. The Pocket-Wifi they carry is out of stock and I like that the R850 has a removable battery.

  2. Story-time...

So as I mentioned in a couple other threads, my G3 decided to up and die by giving me the "blue screen of death." I first planned to go to Best Buy Mobile here in our mall and pick-up a G4 so I could get some Best Buy rewards points. I wanted to first make sure they knew I had Framily. The one guy there said no problem. But that didn't happen because I guess the G4 is not in stock in any of the Best Buy's and they won't get anymore. Fine, whatever.

I moved on to the Sprint Kiosk in the mall to check and make sure they had someone who could deal with Framily. While I found a guy who knew what he was doing (he's going to be my new go-to person now) it would be minimum until Monday they could get me one. Now if my phone wasn't a business line as well, I'd be fine with that. However I'm expecting calls this week so now I'm to the point I need to pick something else. So for my needs and price range (this was a big unexpected expense right now) all I had left was the Note 5. That they had in stock. But then to be polite I said I needed to run out to my car and think about it. What I wanted to do was see if Best Buy had a promotion for the Note 5. Come to find out, they gave you a $100 gift card for buying a Note 5.

Went back in to go back to Best Buy and get a Note 5, now another guy was there. As the assistant manager was helping me get started, he didn't know how to do Sprint's software so he brought over yet another guy to help him. As soon as this 3rd guy saw I had Framily he said and I quote "Yo man, you need to get a new plan. Framily isn't sold anymore and you gotta switch to a new plan."   :censored:

This is where I start saying I have proof that others have switched no problem, upgraded their phones no problem. And all he goes is "welp, that's not how it works. You have to get rid of Framily."

I quickly grabbed my stuff and walked out, and went down back to my Sprint kiosk. Long story short, the group practically offered me a job there haha, showed me how the internal program worked for Framily and they even ordered me pizza and a beverage. We talked about a whole lot of Sprint stuff for 5 hours straight and I walked out with a new Note 5. ON FRAMILY.  B)

Moral of the story: Find a rep who knows what they're doing and you'll have a great time.

  3. So had to unexpectedly change my G3 to the Note 5 on Monday. My G3 decided to give me the lovely "blue screen of death"...

Now I'm trying to learn Samsung's interface again since it's entirely different even from my Tab 3. While I already miss my G3, I am getting better battery life and the stylus is kinda cool. But IDK yet, any hidden features I need to know about?

I'll read through this thread this weekend when I have more time.

    LG G3

Hey, I went from g4 to note 5 and I'm not looking back. And I've been a staunch LG supporter since G2. I thought I would be with LG a very long time, but I see that the g5 isn't my cup of tea...I just don't think it would be a phone that I'm really happy with. This note 5 is everything I've been looking for.

Haha see now I feel the exact opposite about my Note 5... I miss so many of the little features my G3 had. Knock on, the back buttons, the screen brightness setting (where you could just tap the button and quickly change through 4 different screen brightness'), and most of all the movable home and buttons.

After a few days of use, I'm getting used to it but I really would rather make the Note 5 my business line and replace it with a used G4 or get a G5. I didn't realize how much I used all those little features and I legit miss my phone. I'm very, very, very sad and bummed it did that. :(

    LG G3

    yikes

Yup... didn't even know that was a thing for Android until it happened. Can't get past the blue screen so anything I had not on the SD card is gone.

Went to Sprint today and they too were baffled by it. I wound up getting a Note 5 to replace because the G4 would be a minimum of a week to ship. I will still be tracking this thread because my mom has the G3 too.

As much as I like the Note 5, I'm already missing my G3. I'm bummed that it did that and it didn't even make it 2 years (July 2016). Maybe I'll get a used one off Swappa so I can still have one... after I recuperate my poor wallet from this unexpected expense.

    LG G3

Great... as I was sitting here reading through the threads on my laptop, my G3 just did the Blue Screen of Death and can't get it past the LG screen...

Any help? Or am I simply f'd?

  4. I had really high hopes for the G5, but I honestly don't know how I feel about it. Sure it's "cool" but it doesn't seem practical for me anyways.

I know the pre-production model just came out but first going from a 5.5" from my G3 to a 5.3" is not something I really like. I don't like that there isn't an app drawer. I don't like that they decreased the battery size. IDK, I think I'm with JimBob here and wait until next year and just hang on to my G3 for now.

I also would love to know if and how you'd make a case for this with the removable battery... especially like my Otterbox Defender case.

  5. Older people don't disagree with the young due to their numeric age. Older people used to be the young and they made the same mistakes...and have now learned from them. Youth is wasted on the young. Experience and maturity are very important too.

Now I personally have to disagree with this. I have been flat out told to my face after I told someone my age, that I was too young to a.) know what I was doing and b.) run a business. No, not all people older than me are that way, however there are still people out there who think that just because you're a certain age you are/are not, can/cannot or know/do not know something.

It's not really an "either, or" supposition. The most successful people tend to mind both. If you are young, and are willing to try to understand and implement good parts of the sage wisdom of those who have gone before you, then you will be unstoppable. Being the youth who is also wise. A very rare individual.

And the same goes for us older folks. To be wise and mature, and yet be open and malleable to the ideas of the young.

Although I do find it ironic in this instance that the brick and mortar store purchasing method tends to be a concept more for older people and the online purchase model more geared toward younger people...but hey, to each his own.  ;)

I've always been a person more geared toward maturity and mature conversations. Being raised as an only child I was surrounded by more adults and have learned invaluable information from people much older than me. I have much respect for all you guys on here because you teach me something I'm still trying to learn everyday from. But then when I see responses geared toward someone "being something" for being a certain age really irks me.

I agree with you on the brick and mortar statement, however I much rather prefer going to a store to touch, feel and see a product versus do all my shopping online.

  6. I am also vaguely suspicious that the fact that I have an Apple Watch has something to do with it. things seemed normal until this morning when my watch popped up the weekly activity report - and froze. I had to reboot the watch to unfreeze that. after that my 30 minute drive to work resulted in a loss of about 40% of the phone battery which normally only loses a few percent during that drive.

40% in 1/2 an hour!?

I thought my phone's battery drained quickly... holy smokes!

  7. I hope we start to see more information pop up on this device... my G3 will be paid off in July and I've been tempted with the Note 5 but I REALLY like the LG interface over TouchWhiz.

So I'm hoping, begging, pleading that the G5 will impress me and rock... and that it actually will be with Sprint! If history repeats itself, would this phone be released yet this year or next year?

  8. What?  You mean you *gasp* don't want to buy the device, try it, then if you don't like it, pay return shipping and possibly a restocking fee, then repeat the process over and over, spending days or weeks figuring out which device you actually want through repeated trial and error?

You clearly need more patience and to learn what "efficiency" is.  ;)

    - Trip

This. Obviously, we're forgetting about the phrase "time is money." When you wait for something that can be achieved faster and more efficiently, you're wasting time. Your time might not be valuable, but I certainly know mine is. The longer I wait are possible missed opportunity.

I guess that means I'm impatient too know.  :2tu:

Typical generation gap. Being a young business person and owner, I deal with this on the daily. Because if it's not the way they do it, it's wrong. And because I'm only 21 I don't know anything or even though something is working for me, it's still wrong. Just because I'm a certain age, don't stereo type me "assuming" I do or don't do something.

Back on track with this thread... Today was the first day I saw the Metro PCS commercial to "break-up" with Sprint. The T&C must be super long with this one. I didn't get to read what this plan covers. Copy of 50% off plan Sprint is doing?

  9. So since the max speed of band 25 is 37 mbps. Does band 26 give you some relief to where u see about 10 to 15 mbps on band 25?

Oh easily! Now while the one tower I'm using as an example (B25/B26 only) is surrounded by full build towers with second carriers I know it makes this tower a bit faster than if you had multiple towers all at B25/B26 only.

On B25 I can usually pull 15-20 Mbps at normal hours and at least 8-10 Mbps on B26.

  10. I don't.....im guessing that if i do get it.... since its a higher frequency it's harder to travel further. Since the 1900 mhz already has trouble to travel.

Nokia's (Nokia is the vendor for your market) 8T8R antennas help a lot with that. Thanks to the advanced antennas and with the help of beam forming, the usable reach of B41 is very close to that of B25, especially outdoors. Indoors will vary due to different construction materials, and many other variables.

I can say what David said is 100 percent true. Depending on which tower I'm connected to (from what I've seen) is anywhere from a -2 to -10 (on average) difference in radio frequency. Where B25 is at -88, I see B41 sit at about -92 to about -95 on one tower. On another where B25 sits at about -100, B41 sits at -108. Both of these are full builds (B25, B26 and B41) and have a second B41 carrier and IMO are fully optimized sites.

  11. In the back of my mind and deep in my gut, I had a sinking feeling this would happen "eventually."

However, as mentioned, Karma IS being responsible and handling it well to keep everyone happy. I hope the end result will be decent and it doesn't kill this business model. Many of you are against unlimited data, and I see your point. However there are many who have no other choice for internet in some cases and NEED something like this.

It's very unfortunate that the people who do have 50+ Mbps internet, have to abuse this for the many who don't have it. I'm rooting for Karma here because the next move they make with this will either make a lot of people unhappy or possibly kill this entire thing because nobody will want it.

  12. It's been almost a week since I've been on here to go through everything, but here is a "somewhat late" update on sales. Remember to look at the first original post for any sales going on! And if you find a sale that's not listed, please let me know and I'll add it.

  13. Sprint sends holiday gift baskets to all T-Mobile stores with URLs to the sprint jobs site XD

    Nice move, Marcelo

Ya know... things like this is why I love the topics of business and marketing. Look at how great, somewhat trolling and evil, but all around awesome this is. When you're a bit creative, you can throw shade in so many ways!

    So much win!  :D

  14. Data Sale! Just got an email from Karma, starting today and going until next Monday, you can get double your data for the same price.

Buy 5 GB at $59, get 5 GB free & Buy 10 GB at $99, get 10 GB free.

I will post this too in the OP.

  15. this thing is pretty awesome.

that said, if you have more than 3 devices, be prepared for some extremely annoying behavior having to re-log in any time a 4th device wants to connect.

The device seems to remember only the last 3 devices, and when the 4th connects you must 'pause' one of those 3.

It does *not* seem to drop the device even when it is no longer connected.

and of course you must re-log in every time that device gets 'paused'.

some of you may think that is a small price to pay for unlimited 5 meg service, and it is.

that does not make it any less annoying and unfriendly.

I'm still on Refuel myself, so I haven't experienced this yet. When you have multiple devices connected, do each of your devices still get the 5 Mbps? I've been curious about this...

And about the debug, I was thinking about that when I first got it myself. I would love to peek at what band it camps on and such. But I don't have the foggiest idea and truthfully don't even know how you could do it. So if anyone else figures it out, count me in on that info!

Glad you like it though! After you have had it for a while and played around with it, would love to hear an update.

  16. Not to hijack your conversation on the carrier bundle... but I've been keeping up in reading all the posts between here and the 6/6 Plus thread. As I may or may not have mentioned on here, I plan on going to an iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus as my new secondary, business line to keep all my work stuff off my personal line on my G3.

Now I noticed that there are still some issues with the 6 that were solved by the 6S. The question I have - and since I plan on buying at least a 64GB if not preferably a 128GB right off the bat through Swappa and not new through Sprint - should I get the 6 Plus, the 6S Plus or wait until a used one comes around of the 7? It's also something I'd probably keep for 2-3 years before replacing, keeping that in mind.

I personally plan on making a decision and buying one within the next couple months (probably at most by the start of summer), but I'd much rather hear actual users inputs first since this would be my first IOS device.

  17. The coverage map is a mess, still too small and too many colors.

My only gripe is that the purple color is a little too close in shades. Off the top of my head don't they have like 3 or 4 different shades of purple going on? If the colors where a couple shades lighter/darker from one another, I believe that would really clean up the roaming on the map.

And to also beat the dead horse... a larger coverage map.  :dead:

But I think overall I'm glad they went with a lot of "different" colors, because each one really stands out. You can tell exactly where there is LTE, Spark/Enhanced LTE and where it's still falling back to 3G easily. It would be terrible if they decided to go with different shades of Orange to depict all LTE service. The yellow on orange on purple works well IMO.
