  1. Hi all! I'll be in the Milwaukee and Mequon areas in October. How's the Sprint service up that way now?

From what I've experienced, great in areas where it has blanketed coverage. But, places can be spotty! It all depends on the areas you go. Milwaukee is definitely in better standing than around Madison I know!

Btw... be sure to send any logs my way from your trip in the premier thread (link is in my bio). I'd greatly appreciate any data you find!

  2. Updated my 5S to iOS 10 and it officially got even better!

It seems a lot snappier and as I do a lot of social media, marketing and picture taking with it, that's going to be greatly appreciated. As a business only device, it's been a great sidekick for me!

Very glad I got a separate business line, and dumped my tablet I had (Tab 3) and switched everything to this. While for personal use, I'm all Android and my Note 5 rocks. But for business use... iOS has been a HUGE help for me and for never owning anything iOS, my 5S continues to impress me.  :2tu:

  3. Oh thats unfortunate. It makes sense I guess since the last update was in Nov 2015 on the non premier one. Are the premier maps out of date too?

Anyone actually been to Door County with sprint recently? I had ATT when I was there 2 years ago and it was just improving. I have T-Mobile now as my main line and I know it's just throttled and capped att roaming there with them. I wanted to bring my Nexus 6p on Ring Plus and use their native coverage in Sister Bay since it will be better than T-Mobile roaming.

While still up in the air, I may be doing a weekend trip to Door County this weekend.

I have up in the North Wisconsin premier thread, only 2 towers within the area confirmed with LTE. I confirmed the 2 last year, but we know according to the official Sprint coverage map that "supposedly" our 3G only towers now have some form of LTE.

So... if you are not a premier sponsor yet, please donate to help keep this site going! In the premier thread we have a full spreadsheet of all of our towers with current NV standing, address of each site and 3 different maps to help track all of the information. I can always use more members to add information for me! I recently have taken over for the Milwaukee/Madison premier thread as well.

Now's the time because Robert is running an upgrade special: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/7547-s4gru-good-newsbad-news-lights-go-off-on-sunday-724-unless-we-can-raise-just-a-few-bucks/

I also have all the links below in my signature...

  4. New Sprint commercial:

Seeing Paul in Sprint commercials will never get old. I hope Sprint sticks with him for a long time.

    News Release

Marcelo went through the Metrics of the original ad during the Call this morning, and the numbers/impressions are truly staggering. I'll pull them from the Transcript once it posts to Sprint's site.

Why have I not seen this one yet!? I love that one!

I get all giddy too for great commercials... it's also why marketing is one of my two majors.  ;)

  5. Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm now coming upon 4 months with my 5S and have been really impressed by it!

As I've said, this is solely a business line so all calls, texts, social media, marketing, etc. are all done on my iPhone. I've been able to easily do live SnapChating at events, update social media in real time, and more importantly clean up the logistical side of the business getting this.

Battery life has been outstanding even with everything I've been doing, it's just VERY difficult to get used to the small screen. The 5S WITH my business colored Otterbox Defender is the same size of the screen alone on my Note 5 haha. Data too has been surprisingly good as well - seeing as there isn't B41 with it. I always have LTE in areas where my G3 and Note 5 always got LTE.

I'm very happy that I went this route to introduce myself to iOS. I have officially decided all my business tech will be iOS (except for computers that is, I'm a PC guy all the way). I would love to get an iPad to digitally do contracts and work on things through Google Drive. My next iPhone however will definitely be the plus model, but for now I will stick with this little guy!  :)

  6. Figured I'd make mention of it in here too...

I spotted the 3rd carrier of B41 in the North Wisconsin market last night!!

If you're a premier sponsor, I posted it in our market thread or click here. (If not, now's a good time to donate!)

This totally caught me off guard. I wasn't really expecting it for awhile here because only large cities have had it been spotted, so this was quite awesome to see. It also shows that Sprint as a whole is really starting to get the ball rolling again on work now that it's nice out! Can't wait to see what other changes come our way... :)

  7. You might be surprised.  Try to put up a cell phone tower in your yard and see how many people come to town meetings shrieking about cancer risks and other such stupidity--often while talking on the phone pressed against their head.  The inverse square law is really lost on those people.

    - Trip

You're absolutely right here and speaking of which... while not a RF issue more so a location issue, the whole N.I.M.B.Y (not in my backyard) situation is coming into play here. By the way... this is about a Verizon tower being built.

I'm sure a good chunk of the residents complaining are Verizon customers, but of course because people are uneducated they don't understand the common sense here of that a location is chosen for a reason. You can't just plunk one down anywhere... I mean I'm no fan of Verizon but the comments and complaints I've seen from this story makes me shake my head.

  8. Some Androids (and some apps, GSam is my favorite) will show the 'Screen on Time.' I can get 2 or 3 days out of my G4, but that's with like 30 minutes of screen time. Up that to 2 hours, and it's closer to 25 hours of battery life. I'm not sure if "Home & Lock Screen" is the same as "Screen on Time."

I don't remember but did the G3 say for screen time versus usage? My Note 5 has the approximation time left on battery and then usage on battery. It doesn't say stand-by time like my iPhone does.

  9. Wow! That is something else. What was at the top of that list there (what app used the most battery)?

Did you use Low Power Mode at all?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

"Home & Lock Screen" was the highest at 21% when I just plugged it in with 2% left! And no, I did not have "Low Power Mode" on at all the past couple days.

Total I got 4.5 hours usage and 97.25 hours on stand-by, I'm blown away by the battery.

  10. I hate to revive a dinosaur... but I had an opening spur of the moment on my Framily and decided to jump on it. Since I just dropped unexpected money on my Note, I had to watch the budget especially since this is now my business line.

Anyway, since the iPhone 5S was cheap and I've never had iOS before, I decided to go with that over spending more on the SE or a new/used 6/6S or 6+/6S+, just to make sure I'll actually like it. So I now have a space gray iPhone 5S 16GB.

As of right now, I needed it more to secure the phone number for marketing purposes. I won't be doing anything heavy on it. Just the basics of phone, texts, email and keep the social media updated for the business.

My only complaint which I knew going in was that the whole phone itself is the smaller than the screen size of my Note haha... it's been really weird too not having widgets or a back button. But the whole OS has been really smooth over the past 5 days or so too.

One thing that REALLY stands out is the battery life, I'm blown away with this...

  11. Marshie..I use mine occasionally with Ting but honestly with the ability now to legally

tether off your smartphone when needed I see very little use for these dedicated

hotspots anymore; if Ting would increase their data bucket sizes I might use the Zing

    more often..just my $.02

I didn't even think about Ting... but with my Karma hotspot it's actually cheaper with Karma. However, I know I could get better speeds other than that, idk.

  12. Where can I buy the LG G4 on 2-year contract?

Best Buy offers for $1, but that is store pickup only, and inputting East Coast zip codes show that it is actually not available anywhere.

Sprint website wants $199; more than the LG G5! :td:

When I needed to replace my G3 ASAP, I tried getting a G4 from Best Buy at first and said they had none and could get none by me.

I wouldnt be surprised in a month after more and more people go to the G5, the price drops a bit for it for Sprint.

  13. I work for BBM and the reason that we can't do framily is that Sprint doesn't pay the bounty on DPP/Lease so we eat the full price of the phone. If you bought it outright and did a hardware swap that would be fine but those don't get gift cards.

Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Then why did 2 other Best Buy Mobile employees say they could do and did do it that same week for others?? I would have bought it outright if that was possible, but the one was FORCING me to switch regardless when I and everyone else know that isn't it the case.

I didn't really care if I got the gift card or not, I just needed a replacement phone and quick.

    Also, it proves my point:

Moral of the story: Find a rep who knows what they're doing and you'll have a great time.

Especially since I was dealing with the assistant manager, why didn't he know this or say this right off the bat.
