Is there a default voice mail for the Nexus 5 or is Google Voice the only way to go?
-
Wow this last update that Robert just posted for Utah is pretty awesome.
Site acceptance reports from Tuesday (12/3), Wednesday (12/4), Thursday (12/5), Friday (12/6
- Utah - 129 updates (41 LTE)
Where was that posted, or was that pretty much what he posted?

While at Kearns High School this morning for a dance recital with full 4G. This is a screen shot from later today with WiFi on. The result doesn't show whether it was 4G or 3G. However, the antenna logo next to the date shows that it was through Sprint. You'll just have to take my word for it. Also, signals can sometimes be bad in buildings but the 4G was strong all through the school.

I just got the MSL code for my phone to enable all the bands on my Nexus 5. Are there priorities with the bands that work better than others?

myself, my brother and some of my friends had noticed crappier then usual service with our sprint devices. maybe this a good thing. as i would be even happy with NV 3G even if they delayed LTE. but thats just me.
I agree completely. If they can complete the network rollout by early to mid Dec I'm fine with crappy service until then.
-
FYI - We went to get my wife's phone upgraded and while there I mentioned to the guy that my signal wasn't working even though it has been fine for the past few days. He mentioned that Sprint is going to be pretty bad in the next 10 or so days because they're doing the final push to get 4G LTE up and running. I guess a lot of people have called to complain about their service.
After about Dec 10 the the network should be working and we'll see download speeds up to about 10-15 mbps. Makes sense as a few big clients in Utah have threatened to leave Sprint if 4G isn't finished by the end of the year.
Here's hoping for patience within the next week and a half an an awesome signal by the end of the year.

Triband! Good choice. How do you like it?
It's seriously pretty sweet. I have a Nexus 10 so I'm pretty used to the layout and stuff. It's really weird getting a consistent signal when driving around and to have it respond. Feels like I got out of an abusive relationship with the Samsung GS2.
I have to thank this forum for guiding me in the right direction.

So my good news is I went and upgraded to the LG Nexus 5 and though Sprint has some time before LTE is fully rolled out, I finally have a phone that's decent and picks up the signal pretty well. It's crazy what a better phone can do.

Will there be any Black Friday discounts for the Nexus 5?
-
Also, does anyone know if Sprint will be offering any discounts on the nexus 5 for black Friday? I was going to wait for a sales discount but they don't seem to offer one for that phone.

Just curious how is your WiMAX coverage/speeds like nowadays?
Honestly, that's like the first time the 4g wimax had ever worked. I've been using the 3g all along.

Gotcha, that's still fast for my phone considering I can't even connect to wimax. Now I'm excited to get an lte phone. I'll refrain from posting anymore wimax photos as they won't do anyone any good.

um it says your device is an S2 is that correct
Yes, I have the S2.

This is the speed test from Orem in front of UVU. First time I've ever had my 4G working on my phone. It's showing 3G but this is a screen shot from a minute or two ago with 3G on at the moment.

we have a saying around here sensorly or it didn't happen...or lte engineering screens shots....sorry that's just how it is I hope ur right though!

Someday I'll figure out how to post pics on here to prove it. Maybe I can do it tomorrow.

I was in front of UVU the other night going to school and tried flipping on the 4G for the fun of it. Not only did it go on but a speed test pulled in about 5 mbps DL. I was shocked and it got me excited for what will come to southwest Salt Lake valley.
-
That being said, I'll probably wait until the Black Friday sales to find the phones for a lower price. Pretty ridiculous.
-
I called Sprint to find out the in store prices for phones and how they compare. The rep said their online prices are lower due to online savings and then said those prices are also only for new customers and don't apply to existing customers. I've had store reps give me incorrect info before and wanted to see if this was the case.
Does Sprint truly cater toward new customers with deeper discounts more than existing customers? This seems very backward as Sprint should want people to stay with them.
Your thoughts?
-
This is weird. This is at home with my Airrave on. Can that affect the speed tests? I know it affects the bars but the test has never really been this high. Is this a sign of the times?
Test results:
182 ms
2.41 mbps
0.49 mbps
Not sure how to add pics to posts yet.

What about the tower behind the megaplex 20? or is that one not any closer? You may want to consider getting the nexus 5 (very similar to the G2) that does work with Sprint and ATT and Tmo. That way if you wanted to switch to ATT or Tmo for a few months until Sprint gets more of their rollout complete, and then switch back you wouldn't have to change phones.
I'm on 6000 W. so the closest tower is in Herriman. I'll probably go with the Nexus 5 but I'm not sure if I want to pay to buy it unlocked.
-
Will triband phones such as the LG G2 pick up the current 3G Sprint network the best and any signal Sprint puts out the best? The reason I ask is because I'm going to try that phone when my contract is done and if its still not picking up the Sprint signal decently, I'm going to try another carrier.
My closest tower is the Herriman tower on Brundisi Way and there are no towers in the Daybreak area. If the LG G2 can pick up signals in this area consistently and stronger than what I'm used to, I'll assume the LTE rollout will make it even better.
Thoughts?
-
I think it is time for you to upgrade to a triband LTE device.
Exactly, my plan is to go with the LG G2. I really feel this will solve a lot of my problems. I'll either get the LG G2 for my wife or the SG G4 mini. I think both will be good.

I figured I'd vent for a minute. I'm pretty sure I have the Epic 4G touch because that's what its labeled as. It's a S GS2 and has been full of problems lately. I'm on the 3rd phone, the 2nd and 3rd ones were refurbished and have all been doing a buzzing vibrating thing where when I wake my phone up it acts as if I've hit the menu buttons at the bottom though I'm not touching anything.
I took it into Sprint and they said I got it wet. (It must have happened when I wen snorkeling and used it to take pics.) I got a replacement and its doing the same thing. (I went snorkeling again.) I've found other forums of users having similar problems.
I really hate this phone and hate that Sprint considered selling it.

Taken at the Taco Bell in Riverton. I'm shocked at this.
