  1. I assure you they don't. There's existing municipal structures as well as Vertical Bridge Communications for one. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  2. Also, there are typically penalties for breaking long term contracts. That's just wastes money. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  3. I think their biggest issue isn't technical. Their race to the bottom is hurting. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  4. A) Given Verizon's small and decreasing ILEC footprint, I doubt there is much backhaul money going to Verizon. I've seen Sprint pass up competitive backhaul providers just to purchase from the incumbent. They have a lot of room to work. C) Most of their microwave link budgets are crap. Way too small of antennas... fixing that increases tower rent. D) 10G backhaul isn't significantly different in price from 1G backhaul, so they could aggregate towers via microwave fairly reasonably... at an increase in tower rent. E) Verizon is moving to dark fiber backhaul instead of DWDM or MPLS\CE, but dark fiber can be expensive. I don't know if Sprint has the cash to do the same. F) Sprint should probably just put me in charge of their backhaul and it'd be done right. ;-)
  5. Microwave can have lower pings than fiber, so that's not really an issue.
  6. Nothing wrong with microwave, but yeah not a lot of thinking going on here. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  7. http://recode.net/2016/01/15/sprint-finalizes-plan-to-trim-network-costs-by-up-to-1-billion/ "Sources familiar with the initiative said Sprint plans to cut its network costs by relocating its radio equipment from tower space it has leased from Crown Castle and American Tower to spots on government-owned properties, which costs much less. This process could begin as soon as June or July." Well, Sprint sold many of those towers to Crown Castle in the first place...
  8. You underestimate the desire of local government to screw things up. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  9. I see the @Daily_Chronicle is up to their tricks again, trying to get me to pay to use their site with ever intrusive ads.

  10. Check out this update from Omar Looks like Mobilitie put up brand new wood poles in the public right of way (next to streets/sidewalks) in an East Coast city; likely for Sprint Small Cells. I'm hard pressed to see this being approved in a lot of other cities/counties. Especially brand new wooden poles right in front of homes. Appears to be bulky battery cabinets on the ground, an Airspan UE unit (no fiber backhaul), & a Nokia FlexiZone connected 2 a single Omni antennas. Looks like Mobilitie is requesting permits in Salem, MA https://lnkd.in/bfZHxV9 show less Original Post: https://www.linkedin.com/hp/update/6091482756766781441 Sent from LinkedIn for Android Any idea if that is for Sprint? 11. 900 MHz gear usually isn't any cheaper than 2.4 or 5 GHz gear. It is tremendously better at foliage penetration, though. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  12. 900 MHz congestion is almost universal. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  13. Everything known to God interferes with 900. Pagers, smart meters, SCADA, sometimes mobile wireless, some fixed wireless, cordless phones, baby monitors, door openers, etc., etc. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

  15. As followup, I was able to get US Cellular EVDO roaming in Wisconsin. Unfortunately, the USCC rep was incorrect in that LTE roaming didn't work (as expected).
  16. Hey @verizon why can't I root my @SamsungMobileUS phone? Unlock the bootloader!

  18. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jax6ctlv0uo0pl7/2015-11-29%2015.42.18.png?dl=0 I ask them to make the Sprint Zone Nexus 6 friendly so I can better report poor signal areas. I know it isn't on the Play Store, yet they tell me to update something I don't have. https://www.dropbox.com/s/b9d5m0dadegj02q/2015-11-29%2015.43.42.png?dl=0 I provide coordinates and signal conditions stating that their signal sucks in a given area and they respond with this. I'm not sure what isn't up to date, but the last time I did that, it worked just fine. https://www.dropbox.com/s/tl099l1td6dsn8q/2015-11-29%2015.43.58.png?dl=0 I provide screen shots of device config and PRL updates being successful, and they send this. *sigh* Oh, I forgot my main point of coming here in the first place.... Anyone know if any device config updates have any bearing on what I'm asking about? Also, I have 5.1.1 (build number ending in a Z), yet it keeps prompting me to install 5.1.1, which obviously fails. Any idea with what's up with that? Maybe that's what Sprint is actually seeing?

  20. If a Loco isn't providing enough range for your home, you're Bill Gates or you're using it wrong. QoS only matters when you reach congestion. AFAIK, the client doesn't need to support it. I could be mistaken. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
