  1. I traveled north of Oakhurst (which I still believe is Lower Central) to Nedler Grove. On the way up the mountain my phone gave me a celebratory jingle (i set it up that way) which surprised me because I was in and out of service because of the mountain. When I looked down I was receiving a 1x800 signal?!? Nice surprise today.
  2. On my S4 the PRL is 54017....and I just updated it. Is there a reason I dont have the latest version? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  3. Yea it was pretty cool to have LTE right in the middle of the Mendota Slough while fishing for some bass. 23MB Download and 12MB upload. It was great!
  4. I had a tech ticket on that tower a month ago and they called me last week to tell me that it was resolved. I told them that Kerman is in need of a second tower North of Kerman, like where the Nextel tower is. Sad that I can see the active Sprint tower from the Walmart parking lot and have 1 bar with barley any 3G. I just hope that when the tower is fully upgraded that everything improves.
  5. Confirming BM....It is all Sebastian fiber around here. Sebastian gets their wholesale bandwidth from Time Warner, which I don't think would matter at all. This makes it even double frustrating because the Sprint radios are mounted on the Sebastian Tower which is on Sebastian Land that sits 50 yards away from the main Sebastian switch board hub. The new ATT tower is on the completely opposite side of town.
  6. In Kerman.....ATT built a 3rd tower from scratch and is launching LTE and it took all of 3-4 weeks past the permit stage. This is what makes this hurry up and wait so frustrating for me. And Sprint only has a single tower here at 110% capacity at 9:30pm (that has NV panels airborne) and an old IDEN tower that they have done nothing with. Like, TechEric, I have data through Wifi in most of the spots I stop at, its the phone coverage I need.
  7. When I heard it wasn't just Kerman but in the area they were having some of the same issues...that is what I meant.
  8. I am confused.... Maybe someone can help. For the past 6-8 months Kerman has been broadcasting in EHRPD which from my understanding is a necessary step to move towards 4gLTE. So then they put up NV panels about 3 months ago and EHRPD continued to be broadcasted. But then this last week they did something else up on the tower (not sure what) and now they are broadcasting in EVDO:a. Isn't this a step back? Thanks for any info.
  9. Kerman is terrible as well. I had to call it in, it was so bad. My wife couldn't even update her profile. Hey Visalia, does this sound familiar before they launched 4g in your area?
  10. Each site will be different. Some will, some will not. 2.5hz looks to be launching in only dense areas such as S.F. and L.A. type cities as of right now.
  11. It looks like Sprint is pushing the contractors hard for hardware install. The contractors are back in Kerman and they were working in the air way into the night on a Saturday night.
  12. For some reason Sensorly doesn't work when they are testing the towers. At lease in Firebaugh and Mendota it didn't. Once testing was over then it worked.
  13. Not about the holidays for me. It was that great progress and movement was happening almost daily. It was exciting to see which sites got switched on or at least got their hardware. But 2-3 weeks ago it seemed that everything got stopped. At least I was fishing this weekend at the slough in Mendota and was able to enjoy 4gLTE service. (uploaded 5 HD pictures in 3 seconds)
  14. Did the Lower Central Valley contractors go on strike? It seems like nothing has been happening for a couple of weeks.
  15. I tried to turn Sensorly on and record/map but the app would not let me. It gave me an error. Once I was back in 3G land it worked perfect again.
  16. Yea the "signal bloom" changed after they placed the new hardware. Where I live (between Biola and Kerman) we are getting the worst service ever because of the new alignment. We are now roaming constantly. Luckily the 800mhz will have a bigger throw distance and everything should work peachy when the new hardware is actually lit up. But until then I hope Sprint don't mind paying the roaming charges!
  17. She led me to believe that within 3 months the upgrade will be on. With capacity upgrades and speed upgrades. I was holding my breath a bit because Firebaugh got it then Mendota got it 2 weeks later......follow down 33 to 180 then Tranquility/San Joaquin, then Kerman. But I'm sure it doesn't work that way.
  18. According to Sprint Rep we are no longer than 3 months out and "in process". But yes at 10:20pm a couple of days ago the tower was at 101% capacity in Kerman. My suggestion is that you call and let them know about the slow tower. Maybe they will hustle a bit.
  19. Went on a small road trip today for you all today. Mendota is confirmed 4g LTE and so is Firebaugh. Interesting facts: 1. Firebaugh is significantly slower than Mendota. 2. The LTE signal is thrown a huge distance away. I was 8-10 miles away from the Mendota tower when it lit up. He are some pictures below as proof. (and for those wondering, no shots were fired at me when taking the photos!) Firebaugh: Mendota:
  20. Yeah Kerman is weird right now. The signal strength is weak but the speeds are faster. Just using my Facebook App it seems to be loading faster than before too. I can confirm with plada2315 on the speeds.
  21. it wasn't the actual tower I was upset with. When I was told that I dont know what I was talking about and that they "in fact" have done nothing to the Kerman tower. That is what got me fired up. Oh and that I should just buy another AirRave. My family ranch have been loyal to Sprint back in the Nextel days and have found that Sprint is a great company and I will wait and be patient but to be treated like a liar, wow.
  22. So I call Sprint to see when they are going to flip the switch on 4g for our local tower which all work has been done and finished. I needed to do this because since the new hardware install (on the tower) the service (we are on the fringe) has been terrible at best when outside of my AirRave. (The panels used to point in our direction and now we are split by two panels) So the rep tell me that there has been absolutly NO work done on our tower and that there will not be any work done for 6 months! Um....no. I talked to the contractor myself and yes the work is done, and yes there is 800mhz, and yes the backhaul is complete and I have pictures to prove it. He went on to argue with me and then tells me to buy another AirRave for $100.00 to place on my grandmothers ranch home. I was in shock.
