Can they really update their coverage maps with so many phones not supporting CDMA-800 still out there?
-
I thought in order to turn LTE 800 on, you needed some type of component card.
Everyone's just being a stickler today. Some markets, like Samsung markets, this is the case, others will need more work.

No need to play games just keep Clearwire alive till then.

I think what this shows is how desperate Dish is to get some sort of infrastructure.
-
Thanks for the lolz, you may also want to post this in the dish/sprint thread or find the old dish/clearwire thread.

They're going to use the spectrum. It's not worth over thinking.
-
It would look pretty bad if they couldn't make their own shot clock. Their excuse would have to be pretty darn good.
-
On the same note. Went directly from lte to roaming. Made me laugh a little.

"We remain concerned, however, that these reported steps do not adequately protect our national security interests, especially with respect to Sprint's critical fiber backbone network and Sprint's extensive contracts to provide important telecommunications services for government, law enforcement and defense customers," said Dodge.
Why would Dish quote a Dish executive about national security? Absolutely no one should care what Dish's concerns are for national security.

Wireless carriers have shown they absolutely don't care what phones support now. Look at Verizon and AWS. ATT will build out WCS and add support to future phones. The problem fixes itself over time.

Thanks for the story! Let's throw this in the Softbank thread though.

If it's too slow you could always quit doing speed tests

Hmmm the argument that shifting spectrum from EVDO to LTE would adversely affect EVDO users is certainly valid and by all means correct. However, the EVDO experience is already unusable in many places regardless so would the loss (potentially indistinguishable) be worth the reward?
I'd have to guess it to be worth it considering how much more efficient LTE is. Even if they only setup a 3x3 carrier.
Just my thoughts...
Network Vision EVDO != t1 based EVDO
Don't hamper a decent airlink while the majority of Sprint users are stuck on it, especially if LTE doesn't have complete blanket coverage in an area.

When I get really low reception LTE. things can get a little wonky, but it hasn't been a real big deal for me so far.
-
What percentage of time do you guys think you'll be on LTE-800 data? 2500 data?
-
Sprint will take his plan D away but might throw him a bone with the Clearwire network and EBS leases. Count on it.
All we can count on is you banging that drum lol. I guess you can say I told you so if it happens.

Thank you Sprint! They finally turned on the tower near my house and I'm getting full bars sitting on my couch!!! Now I can actually start using this unlimited data.
What town? Or as detailed as you feel like giving...

oh it's locked completely, well my mistake. Sorry about that.
Seeing as you are a sponsor, if you really care, you can report it on the "report sites and progress" forum in the sponsor section. Otherwise, eventually they'll find it in here too. Either way, thanks for reporting it. Hopefully there are more new sites around the cities!
Network Vision/LTE - Minnesota Market

LTE is just one part of Network Vision. EVDO gets a terrible rap thanks to legacy sites being hooked up to t1 lines.
