  1. I got it last night. I like the scrolling feature of blinkfeed. The themes are... Okay. New notification sounds will take a bit to get used to. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  2. The Daily Show. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  3. Or that data roaming is turned off on the phone, which it is by default.
  4. Oh, I'm sure they make money. But they really made a killing with Hawaiian Homeland subsidies. Recently the FCC substantially cut those back for Mobi and Sandwich Isle Communications. http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2007/May/27/ln/FP705270372.html Bottom line is they haven't said a peep about LTE. And even if they did, I'd take it with a grain of salt. They've been promissing the iPhone for years now, and released the S3 last week after promising it a year ago.
  5. I was able to flash both Sprint (Photon) and Verizon (Razr Maxx) phones to their network. They also offer Verizon old phones (Milestone X... seriously, that phone is so old).
  6. They were typical 3g speeds. Perhaps a bit faster than what I get on Sprint, but nothing spectacular. And their "Unlimted Data" is a bit misleading as they instituted data caps and will throttle you if you exceed them. In the words of the great Inigo Montoyo, "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means." The rate you pay on a single plan is very good. But when we did the math, for a family plan compared to Sprint, it was not much more per month. And I have a nice new HTC One to boot. I'll be patient and wait for the LTE and will be a happy camper.
  7. I came to Sprint from Mobi. Although you do get nationwide roaming, it's only for voice/text. No data roaming. Service was pretty good. Coverage was a bit better than my current Sprint coverage. Hopefully that will change soon. My problem with Mobi was the lack of high-end devices. Their current flagship phone is the S3 which was just released last week. In order to have a reasonably good piece of hardware, you'd have to buy a good used phone on Ebay or Craigslist, then pay $50-$75 dollars to have it flashed to Mobi. Okay for one person, but with a family of four, it just became a royal pain in the ass. Last August, it was rumored that they were to be sold to Sumitomo, but no word on that ever came out afterwards. We left because I spending a small fortune on trading used phones, and they had absolutely no announced plans for LTE. I think they were able to build their infrastructure using Federal Rural grants, and now that those are dried up, they don't have the capital to build up their network.
  8. That statement was in response to a poster who gave their location as: My home located at the cross-section of "Kawaiahao St" and "Kamakee St". Thanks So That means downtown.
  9. Here's a good sign. From the Sprint Forums: Thanks for the additional info. Both towers that support you, one near WAIMANU STREET and the other near KAPIOLANI BLVD are scheduled to have tower replacements conducted within the next 180 days. We will be installing Network Vision towers that will supply increased coverage, improved voice quality, 3G data enhancements and 4G LTE. Morris L. Sprint Social Media Care They are now giving timeframes and dates. It's coming.
  10. Thank you. Looked today, and it's back up to 36. At least it's nice to see that they do have NV updates. It's progress. Actually, I just started with Sprint. I was with Mobi, who has no announced plans for any LTE service. After several years of dealing with Craigslist and flashing semi-obsolete phones instead of using Mobi's totally obsolete phones I had enough. Sprint had the best promo offer, and for a family of 4, the monthly bill is not much higher than what we paid for Mobi. Overall I'm happy with Sprint. And since I'm a new customer, I'm perhaps a bit more patient than the long time customers.
  11. Aloha everybody. I noticed something unusual on the sprint.com/network site.Yesterday, the number of enhancements on the Island of Oahu was 36. Today it's two, which appears to be the IDEN conversion. Is this an indication that they cleared the board of all legacy upgrades so that only Network Vision will be shown from now on? Would that indicate that the roll-out is underway? Or is it an indication that someone spilled their coffee onto their keyboard at Sprint.
