Touch ID would be nice. None of the carriers have it implemented for their apps at this point which is kind of surprising.

Absolutely, VZW would acquire Sprint in a heartbeat -- if just to devour Sprint's spectrum holdings and customer base. But that degree of industry consolidation would not pass regulatory muster.

Who knows? They've never had trouble obtaining spectrum over time. And buying Sprint brings a bunch of things they probably want nothing to do with. Pointless speculation though as it'll never happen.

I think the better question is why would Verizon even want to entertain the idea of owning Sprint. Sounds like a colossal headache. Even if it would pass scrutiny I don't think they'd do it.

The scary thing is that Sprint leadership thought this was a good idea worthy of investing money in. They need corporate owned stand alone stores here in New Jersey. The RS locations they kept were mostly in rundown areas and washed up shopping centers that time passed by. Meanwhile the other three carriers make sure they are where their customers are.

Most people on the forum say NY is great for Sprint with coverage and speed. When I was there last summer I didn't have any issue with service except on the Subway.
Maybe in the city but the greater metro area leaves a lot to be desired. Where I live in NJ they've done nothing to improve coverage in years.

Except the survival of the company. When he came in sprint was in free fall.

I think the Hesse reign was one of treading water and that's being charitable. The company was in terrible condition but for the compensation he was receiving I expected better. He should've known early on the company wasn't viable as a standalone entity and needed to be sold. Eventually he sold a majority stake to Softbank but to me they are turning out to be a less than ideal choice.
-
Hesse's greatest accomplishment at Sprint was his ability to earn massive compensation with basically nothing to show for it.

Man I remember when he said that. He did have a plan to get Sprint network together in some form. I wonder how things would have been if he was able to get 2.5 on every cell site. Man having 2.5 on a highway would be amazing.

Adding 2.5 to every site isn't going to fix the problems I have with Sprint. They need to add a lot more sites to do that.

I have a credit card for auto pay and it shows the discount. I don't think it's just limited to debit/checkings.
Are you on one of the new single line plans? They show autopay discount being a debit or checking only.
-
Did anyone see that to get the auto-pay discount, you must pay with debit or checking – no credit cards? I would certainly have to think about that before handing over my bank info.
They are just trying to save a few pennies. Debit/checking transactions are cheaper than credit cards. I prefer to pay with a credit card so I can earn points.

Promises, promises. In 3-4 quarters we will see how many stores have been opened. I have been promised densification and nothing has happened besides Manhattan.
Exactly, The store situation in NJ is pretty pathetic in my area. But then again why bother to add stores when you don't really care about the market that much? Haven't seen any new sites in my area in years. I used to complain to Sprint endlessly about all the coverage holes, in densely populated areas no less, but now I don't even bother. After seven years it's time to move on. The promises Softbank made when they purchased Sprint were nothing but hot air.

I don't think they will merge. It's being a reported that the cable companies are eyeing T-Mobile but we shall see
I believe that was just a report of an interview with the investor John Malone who was just kind of throwing out ideas that he thought could happen in 2017. He's a smart guy but I'm not sure I'd put too much faith in it. Who knows? Maybe he's heard something?
-
Yeah 2017 is shaping up to be that year. Just hopefully they execute. Bring on the densification!!!
Didn't they same the same thing last year regarding densification? Maybe I'm wrong but I sure as hell haven't seen a new site here in my parts of New Jersey in years. Since it costs money I'm not holding my breathe.

Is trump in the lead now?
No. I'm not sure if he edited his post but I thought he was saying Trump would be more accepting of a merger than Clinton. I may have read it wrong.
-
Assuming Clinton will will the election, the chances for the merger will be less than under a Republican president. It will be interesting to see how this will play out.
Obviously you haven't been following the election too closely.

T-Mobile only has band 66 in North Jersey
And judging from that map it's pretty much in Northwest Jersey. Coverage can be pretty bad on most carriers when you get all the way up there. Sussex Cellular used to be there but I can't remember what happened to them. They were an odd company.
-
Yea an iPhone 5 is not reflective of Sprint's performance in the slightest. Without Band 26, I can imagine there would be drops to 3G all the time. Try a newer phone (one with CA if possible). I'm confident your impression of Sprint will be changed dramatically.
Sorry about that but the phone in my profile is wrong. I'm using an iPhone 6S Plus. The reality is that Sprint has neglected the market for so long now that a ton of work needs to be done and they don't have the resources to do it. The LTE rollout isn't even complete. You would think a densely populated state like NJ wouldn't be that hard to cover. Luckily I just went out of contract last month so I'm not obligated to stay.
-
I haven't seen any. I really doubt any new towers are coming any time soon. Sprint is focused more on small cells right now. And mostly in urban areas. I don't see rural and suburban areas getting much focus this year or next.

That's what I expected. I've been with them since 2007 and other than some Nextel sites coverage has never been expanded in my areas. Probably time to move on. Too much 3G still and too often service that isn't useable in buildings. The pitfalls of doing business with a company that never seems to have any money I guess.
-
So has anyone seen any new sites go up anywhere in New Jersey? That's the big problem for me. Upgrades are nice, of course they should've been done long ago, but the coverage is just really hurting in too many areas.
-
Even Apple only offers financing on the flagships. If you want a 6S or less you're paying up front.
-
How is it Verizon seems to be flying in small cells and sprint not so much? I know it's hard to say? Didn't sprint announce their plan first?
Vzw will announce their completion first and take the wind from sprints sails because sprint will be catching up again.... Smh it's the never ending battle
That's the difference between the two companies in a nutshell and is what drives a lot of Sprint subs crazy. It's what we all hoped would disappear with new ownership but at least here in NJ there has been next to zero densification.
-
It's been my experience that reporting in Sprint Zone is a waste of time. I used to use it all the time but now I don't even bother. To be fair though I live in New Jersey and Sprint has zero interest that market. Especially the central part of it.Lmao!
I do!
All the time wherever I am I use that. Nothing has changed my thought was if they get enough complaints they would look into it.
Honestly speaking though, with all this high tech stuff they should know and it should get fixed in a timely matter not months as some have reported.

So they paid this Arora guy $200 million for just over a years work? Seems like such a waste.

Have you reported this in the Sprint Zone App?
You could also contact the Zoo's management and have them reach out to Sprint for a small cell with these forms:
What exactly comes from reporting through the app? I've reported the same spot at least 50 times here in NJ and nothing. I don't even bother using it anymore.

So true. I finally gave up though. After a bit more than 8 years they still couldn't manage to expand coverage in any way whatsoever. Too many highly developed areas with sub par coverage or service.
Decided to see what T-Mobile is like and if they don't work we'll switch over to Verizon. It's only been a few days but it's more or less a lateral move coverage wise though T-Mobile has been adding new sites which means they care about the market. The big difference is how useable the signal is. The other day I had one bar of 4G but webpages loaded in a second or two. A similar Sprint signal would've been unusable. Sprint does offer roaming but I've found it useless the past few years. And of course it's nice to have VoLTE now instead of waiting another year or two.
