The only work-around I can think of is if you buy the T-Mobile version and hope that Sprint allows it on its network. The phone would then roam on T-Mobile for voice and possible LTE if band 41 is not available.

Hey if the Merger goes through, you're T-Mobile U12+ would eventually run on "Sprint's" network in a few years. All jokes aside, I was really looking forward to getting this one but lack of availability on Sprint put a block on that plan. My next alternative was to switch to T-Mo but in order for T-Mobile to pay off the remaining balance on my U11, I need to finance the phone through T-Mobile channels of which the U12+ is not available through.

The U12+ also not supporting Band 71 also makes me want to pass on it. So I was then considering the One Plus 6 which does have Band 71 but is in the same situation where it's not available from T-Mobile so they wouldn't pay off the balance on my Sprint U11. So that leaves me here really wanting to take advantage of T-Mo's Buy One Get One deal on the S9+ for my wife and I so we can get my U11 paid off and also get a B71 capable devices on T-Mobile.

  2. My echo dots are being processed. I just got an email because I put in the wrong MEID. At least I know something is going on.

Got the same email. The one it had was all jacked up. Had a period and a +17 in it that was not there when I typed it originally. After typing in the right one again it had the last 4 or 5 characters messed up so something is wrong with there system.

Their MEID field is a floating-point number instead of a string.

Thanks for the heads up, I got the same email as well but it was in my spam folder.  I would have never known.

So what exactly did you guys do to fix it? I got the email about a week and a half ago telling me it was wrong, so I went in and re-entered the MEID. And I just got another email today saying "Your MEID number is either, corrupted due to a form error, not enough numbers (must have 18 numbers), or your number is a duplicate." I'm gonna put the number in again but if I don't get to redeem these Dots because of this error, I'm gonna be rather upset.

  3. NO!!!!

Hardware is exactly the same but it won't activate on sprint network, the esn/imei won't be whitelisted.

  4. But it is just a regular ol HTC U11 from HTC.com. Unlike Sprint's HTC 10, U11 has the same MID for both Sprint and US Unlocked.

So wait, buying the U11 unlocked from HTC.com will actually work just fine on Sprint then?

  5. Well for one, you could potentially get a much better deal going through sprint.  Also, if there is any issues with your device you could probably get a much faster turnaround time dealing with sprint compared to other third party retailers or even with htc.

Under certain circumstances you can get a better deal. But new customers have to pay $29/month for the U11 or $696 full price, which is actually more than what it costs to get it directly from HTC. I guess there is some work done behind the scenes to make this Sprint's first Gigabit LTE device and add HPUE support, so maybe it's not just a regular ol HTC U11 from HTC.com.

That's the only reason I can come up with for why they seem to take longer to add a color to Sprint's lineup.

  6. The hardware is the same but the sprint model has different software.  The only issue I see is that the unlocked version may not work on sprints network because the esn/imei isn't in their database and will not activate.  So flashing the sprint official software probably won't make any difference.

What I wanna know is what benefit was there for Sprint being the Exclusive carrier partner for the U11 if we end up getting screwed out of all the best colorways for the phone?? Can't get Solar Red or Amazing Silver.

  7.

HPUE wouldn't effect the downlink signal level you are seeing as it only effects transmitted power from the phone.

Well I knew that, I just assumed that the increased transmit power would result in improved signal strength. I guess if that isn't the catalyst to the improved signal strength I'm seeing, then we can thank the new Qualcomm radio and glass body instead of aluminum.

  8. Anyone done data speed tests comparisons? Or signal strength comparisons? I'm thinking I'd like to try the device out but would be interested to see how it's holding up on the RF side.

I haven't done any scientific testing or have specific numbers to share but I've noticed a significant increase in range from my home WiFi. Same router and configuration but this phone stays connected much further than my HTC 10. And with HPUE, in my room I see B41 signals around -96 when I wouldn't get anything under -104 on the HTC 10.

  9. I hope I don't regret cancelling my order for the HTC U11. It really looks like a great device, though I wanted to have the shipping stopped on it before it got sent out, as I changed my mind for the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, due to my likely getting the Sony Z9D television. The Sony XZ Premium has the advantage of a 4k Triluminos display, while the HTC U11 has the advantage of better audio and wider network capability within the U.S. This also means my staying with T-Mobile.

Anyways, I'm still impressed by HTC for making a very beautiful looking device in the HTC U11. The Sapphire Blue especially.

I havent looked into the XZ Premium much so pardon my ignorance but what benefit is there to having that phone with that Sony TV? I'm assuming Sony included some features that are exclusive to their ecosystem?

  10. Initial thoughts?

First of all this phone is FAST. I know we all say that when you have a new phone. But the UFS 2.1 Storage in this phone is like having a M.2 SSD in your PC. The speed at which this thing just chewed through downloading and installing all my apps upon setup was pretty impressive.

Signal strength seems improved compared to my HTC 10. Even my 5 Ghz WiFi at home stays connected a good bit further away within my house.

I've yet to go through a full day yet so I can't speak on battery life yet but I see less of a decline in power consumption when I'm actually using the phone compared to my 10.

Display is bright and is easily visible in direct sunlight - again something that's a bit of an issue with the HTC 10.

Camera is crazy good. Launches focuses and shoots photos very rapidly.

Edge sense is not bad when you set it to the correct pressure sensitivity. It works pretty well and is not clunky or annoying when sent to a low enough sensitivity that you don't have to death grip the thing to trigger it but not so low that basic interactions set it off. When you have it set up right it works well and is a nice way to make some quick shortcuts, especially since Google Assistant has replaced Google now when holding the home button. So now I have it set so that a squeeze and hold launches Google Now.

Lack of headphone jack is suuuuper annoying. At work I would quickly switch from having headphones plugged into my speakers to plugging it into my phone when I wanted to play an Instagram video or listen to something on the phone. Now for me to do so I have to carry the dongle with me. Another thing is that you can no longer turn boomsound on or off when using the dongle or set custom audio profile for different headphones.

  11. Alright I just checked the tracking info today and it now says that it's on the Vehicle out for deliver today. A whole 2 days early! I'm hype!

  12. Yeah I went with Sapphire Blue as well. I'm just hoping it's not super ostentatious because I actually prefer the subtle blue tint in the Amazing silver version.

Are you guys planning on rocking it naked, using the included clear case or getting an aftermarket case for it?

  13. Looks like a compelling product. Unfortunately, I am still paying off my HTC 10  :(

Yeah I was on the same boat. I still owed about $270 on my HTC 10. I just paid it off to do the preorder and from looking on ebay, it shouldn't be too hard to try and sell it for about $250 and get most of that money back.

  14. I was able to get a $60 service credit to reduce the overall phone cost from $306 to $246, plus shipping and tax. Ordered! Now I just gotta figure out how to sell the echo dots.

I was thinking about selling the Echo dots too but seeing as how the lack of headphone jack is gonna force me to start transitioning over to bluetooth streaming, I figured I'd at least try using an Echo dot to hook it up to my speakers and stream music from my phone to them. Hoping it works.  :fingers:

  15. Exactly. But 24 X 12.75 = $306 (not $250 as I said earlier). I bought my m8 on launch day years ago for $199 w/ 2 yr contract. Seems like I'm paying more.

True but unfortunately upgrade pricing isn't available any more so this is as good as it will get.  So you just have to ask yourself if its cheaper to stay on the older plan and going this option or going to a newer plan and paying the higher monthly amount.

Yeah you could be like me and thinking that $22.75/month is a good deal ($546). I would love to be able to get it for $306. Granted, I never keep my phones for 2 years so after a year I'll end up selling it I really end up only paying about half of that.

  16. I feel the same. I want a good deal too. With my upgrade I can get it for $12.75/mo for 24 mo, but that would total $250 plus tax. Sure I get 2 echo dots, but I'm not interested in them. I guess I could sell em though.

Yeah I just notice this deal as well. Apparently, if you are on one of the older plans with an active lease then you can get the u11 for 12.75 per month on installments.  So for me that's $306 total purchase price, thats one hell of a deal.

Much to my surprise, the U11 preorder is listed at a lower price when I signed in to my account. Listed at $22.75/mo vs the regular price of $29/mo. I almost pulled the trigger but my sister is gonna see if she can finesse Sprint into a Galaxy S8-like 2 for 1 deal on the U11 so that we can both get it lol :fingers:

  17. I'm on the everything data 1500

Holy smokes that's an oldie! Well my offer is on the table for you too buddy. $400 cash monies for that HTC U11 lol

If you guys think I'm buggin just tell me to shut up  :D

What plan is that muffinman? Is that the 2 year contract plans, the Framily plans or the plans they just had here before unlimited Freedom?

  19. I feel the same. I want a good deal too. With my upgrade I can get it for $12.75/mo for 24 mo, but that would total $250 plus tax. Sure I get 2 echo dots, but I'm not interested in them. I guess I could sell em though.

That's actually a really good deal. I would get it in a heartbeat for that. Heck i'd even offer to give you $400 to use your upgrade and give it to me lol

  20. I agree. I'm surprised this wasn't already done. I figure the staff will move the relating posts here.

While I'm not a fan of HTC and I really disliked the HTC 10 outcome, this new 11 does appear to be a better try, though I'm still a bit skeptical about it since Android Police mentioned backlighting light leakage issues they observed on the 11.

I wouldn't put too much stock in pre-production demo units. But it's never a bad idea to wait a little bit. Gives manufacturers time to fix any issues in production. I've always been an early adopter and get phones at launch or pre-order devices every year, and I always get bummed out when I see a phone for sale on Sprint for a few hundred dollars off or half price. So I think I'm gonna wait this one out until Sprint puts out a discount on the U11, (may wind up waiting forever but I have my fingers crossed).

And I'd like to see reviews of the production units.

  21. And now I've managed to break the screen on my M8 so hopefully they ship it soon before this gets worse. It's my last backup phone.

Ohhhh man some Bo Berry Biscuits would be amazing right now!!

So I'm gonna wait a little bit on the U11 to see if Sprint puts out a nice deal on it like they're doing with the S8 (2 for 1 Lease deal) and the LG G5 (50% off). Especially since HTC.com isn't letting me do the TeamHTC trade in with my HTC 10  <_<
