  1. I try my best to only use my unlimited data at night like 10pm-5am. Though I still use way more than I should. It's what happens when you only have one ISP able to get to your house and they don't give a crap. I can't use youtube much on it with out them throttling me. Also using more than 100-150GB will do it. It's a soft cap that they say they don't have, but it's there. But mostly it tends to fail alot even after replacing two modems and cables.

I have a unlimited At&t data plan and they have been very nice to me, even with 150GB of data use they didn't slow me down. I only used it at night and my unlimited data Verizon line in the day, but only use about 20-30gb a month.

  2. I will have to check this out for my self. looks like the wake forest area is on track to get sprint LTE soon. I don't like calling it the Research Triangle Park due to still being stuck with sub par ISP's like time warner cable. Even comcast is better than them and they just don't seem to care about there network very much. Why didn't we get google fiber if we are such a tech area or at lest better than 50/10 that has poor uptime, really never get's close to that speed and throttles the living crap out of you for using youtube.

Or does stupid stuff like this: http://speedtest.net.../2659023349.png

I now feel so ashamed when I have to visit my cousins/annt with comcast paying half what I do, getting the speeds they paid for and better uptime along with not getting throttled up yours for using youtube.

But any ways I think it's cool AT&T/verizon won't be the only LTE players any more. :)

  3. I am glad I will be living in the stick's soon where I can use a crap load of data. Good by 10mbs max with painful drops to 200kbs on 4G LTE. I hope sprint will still have unlimited data and have 4G LTE up and running by the time my Verizon line ends in dec of this year. Most of all I can't wait to the Beep away from TWC and there stupid tech who have to reboot the modem 5 times just to say "yea I guess it has a issue, we will send some one". Then every time the "tech" come's He reboot's the thing like 2 or three times and then starts ripping cords out and pugging them in every way they can go in like I did not do ANY OF THIS ON THE PHONE WITH them already. Then just say's it works in some kind of way, or it works half way and the TWC speed test look's good so good by. Then repeat +1 to eating chicken's going to have some now at 8:30am for the win.

  4. The LTE sites yes even the the 10x10 Verizon ones can get over loaded. There is a tower near my area that got hit by sub 500kbs down/up. No I did not use a lot of data and yes after going back home I got way better speeds. AT&T 3G/"fake 4G"/HSPA+ was getting about 3mbs down and 1mbs up in the same spot. ( They had a AT&T wifi hotspot too, so that could be why.) I used to think LTE would never really get so slow due to high useage, well it does and it will. I don't even live in NYC and I am seeing issues like this come up more and more. I am glad to be moving into the sticks soon with a LTE tower near by to give me 25+ down and 20+ up. That won't likely go down any time soon, because we are talking about guys with 2-10 acres. If you call BS on this who think VZ is all that here is a video:

  5. I don't off load at home, because I have a PC to use the internet. :) Now because I will be moving into the "stick's" as one youtube commenter put it. I will very likely be using my unlimited 4G LTE verizon Data plan to offload from my soon to be 250GB cap :( As to the guy or anyone who think's there CS is so good. Then Why did I have to nearly sue them for pushing out a bad software update and swapping my phone out? But yea I seen the hard throttled way, that using 4G LTE over your home ISP just "cuz it's faster" is not good. ( And to play a crap load of 1080p video to my 46in tv with out skiping, like 50-80GB of 1080p video is not a good idea as well, just do 720p/480p even 360p just don't do that.)

  6. YOU ARE BEING THROTTLED BY VERIZON FOR ABUSE OF THE NETWORK! There is no way you would be getting 3mbps. I watched your youtube video with over 10mbps upload. Stop filling this forum with your diarrhea of the mouth or you will be banned.

I was talking about Verizon phones in the aera not just mine. Any way I don't want to talk about it now, because I know I messed up really badly and I don't want to make the same mistake two times.

  7. you must live in a god awful neighborhood, cause i get more than 50/5.... 52/5.5 consistently. if youre a stigler for speed and performance, why are you looking into sprint LTE, its not going to outperform verizon or AT&T in the triangle for a few years.

I don't really need more speed than what AT&T gives, but I would like unlimited or 5GB to 10GB with out a bill in the 100+ range for one line just for data. As for Verizon I hope it out does it by a good bit.( In my testing, it's about as fast as H+ on AT&T here.) That and I like to read up on tech. I am looking for 5+ mbs at all times and unlimited use. Verizon fit's unlimited use, but even with 69dbm I get about like 3mbs. I don't know were and with what phone's you Verizon guys pull 20mbs + all the time with are, but I have not seen it for months. I am hoping sprint doing 2 5x5's will work better than Verizon's one 10x10 in the 700mhz band. In the here and now and in the long run.

  8. I live and die in Wake Forest.... and my verizon LTE speeds are 30mb down/20-25mb up. So that debunks your verizon theory. 2nd... embark? Embarq... embarq'd awhile ago, we have Centurylink now.... and if you goto their store in north raleigh off capital blvd... ask for bonded DSL... speeds up to 40mb/s....they also offer prism tv.. which is IPTV.

Additionally, if you need more speed, TWC in the triangle does 50mb down/5mb up... soon to be 50mb down/25mb up.

Just sayin. You have plenty of options.

I won't go into the Verizon thing/issue, but thanks for telling me about the Centurylink speed's. I know about the TWC 50/5 plan, but did not want to reward them for only giving me 1/2 to 1/5 of the speeds they clam. thanks

  9. In my opinion, where Raleigh fares on the NV/LTE schedule is more than fair.

Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

I would like it sooner, but you are right about it being fair. Do you know about when LTE will be coming or have they not started yet? thanks

  10. raleigh is doomed for sprint failure.

    (

Don't say that, I live there. Verizon 4G speeds are slow there and AT&T only has 5x5 LTE with no AWS to help later. And on top of that my home ISP is about the only high speed ISP. ( There is embark, but they would not replace there modem that was over heating and there for my internet was going on/off all the time.)

  11. You are claiming that the original iPhone was the same as other smartphones when it came out and Apple just marketed it better? That's the biggest load I've ever heard. I suffered through a Windows Mobile phone (several actually) on Sprint for years so don't you insult my honor or demean the hell I went through :( on those pieces of s**t by claiming Apple didn't invent/reinvent the smartphone and touch UI.

Apple invented the tablet market (and still owns it)... the few "tablets" before it were crap, failed, and quickly exited the marketplace. Even most of the Android tablets ever released were channel-dumped at a loss (but falsely claimed as "sales") before being end-of-lifed.

Apple owned the music business with iTunes because Steve Jobs had the clout to convince the record companies to get on-board. I don't recall Bill Gates (of whom I am a fan actually) getting on a plane, flying to meet record company executives, and pitching them his vision for digital music. Apple did and that's what got them to stop stonewalling digital distribution.

Apple's latest Mac OS has altered the paradigm of interacting with computers by removing the concept of saving (everything is saved automatically in the background) and combining it with version control so you can live-browse older versions (and even drag elements of them out of the past and into the current document). Again, did they invent it entirely out of nothing whole-cloth? No, but it is actually moving the concept of the desktop UI forward... Frankly Microsoft had this one in their face for years (Word's autosave) but never just made that automatic because they failed to combine it with automatic version control.

Apple was the first to say "hey, let us handle all the billing and support crap - you just sell your apps". They also broke the backs of the carriers... do you people have amnesia or do you not remember the locked-down nonsense that passed for an "app store" on phones back when the carriers were in control  ? Or when Verizon/Sprint would have the same phone but different features were enabled/disabled at their respective whims? Apple literally invented the "no, all carriers will ship the same phone with the same features and no non-uninstallable carrier crapware".

One of Apple's strengths has been a willingness to dump the past/legacy and move forward. It often allows them to spot the obvious and force it to happen. It also means old apps that aren't maintained die off and people find replacements... replacements that take advantage of the new paradigms/features. That may not be a choice that works for you but it's not meaningless.

 Nonsense. Apple devices are well-made and unlike many companies they stand behind their products. Even the 2009 iPhone 3GS is going to get updated to iOS 6. It may not support all the new features but it is being kept up to date. Apple delivers what they promise and that's part of the reason they are one of the largest companies in the world.

This kind of low-effort crap-posting is just sour grapes from people who irrationally hate Apple. If their products don't suit your specific needs, that's fine. I have no problem with that. If you just prefer a different UI or brand, that's also fine. But don't make up nonsense to justify your irrational decision - own it as an irrational preference and be honest.

Apple clearly has the best product support (hardware and software), the best/largest app ecosystem, and the best/largest accessory ecosystem, and the best/most widespread integration (e.g. car) ecosystem. It also has the best media ecosystem (iTunes Store). None of these things are arguable - they are demonstrable facts. Apple is also posting record profits and a $100 billion dollar company.

If they are losers then I pray I can be that big of a loser some day.

In conclusion: As long as Robert lets me get away with it, I am going to start raining hellfire down on people making anti-apple posts not backed up with accurate information.

edit: I don't intend for this post to be a personal attack or to sound angry. I'm not mad at either of you, honest :)

I don't "irrationally hate Apple". As you put it, I have tryed there MAC's and I dislike UI no matter how I use it and it reminds me now of the windows8 UI is going and I am not a fan of it. Now I am not really going to go into Mac's, becuase I have not used them a lot, so it would not really be all that fair to comment more on mac "pc's".

Now for the ipad, I dislike a list of thing's about it:

    1) The UI (The way it's set up on IOS) makes it way to slow vs my GT-9100 or my razr for that matter to get to the settings.

    2) The 1st gen only had 256mb of ram and it seemed to run out alot and updates don't really help.

    3) The OS/app's crashs alot on the 1st gen and 2gen vs my non apple phone when it comes to using app's.

    4) I sent one into a boot loop with a chess app that worked fine on my NON apple phone and yes it was the same app.

    5) No flash really limits what you can do and for me to use some thing at this time with no flash is really pain full for me at this time. ( note I hate flash about as much as I hate steam so I am not a flash fan and I want HTML 5 right now to kill flash, but it will take time.)

    Now for the iphone 4s

    1) The 3.5 in srceen is a bit hard to use due to size.

    2) No tethering with out jailbrake.

    3) OS is hard to get to seting's for wifi,BT and so on. ( Not that big of a "deal", but for the most user friendly phone. I would think it would be faster to get to some how.)

    4) Poor real build vs a lot of phones when droped. ( I know the samsung S3 is poor as well, but apple should still be better than most right, not just a phone that at the time has not even come out yet.)

    5) It boot's slower than my S2, and most of the new high end phones that have come out.

    6) IOS has locked up on me before and I had to hardreboot it.

    7) Safari (web browser): It does not seem all way like butter vs my GT 9100 and the zoom in/out "lags" a bit.

Now I do think the "new" ipad is cool and I think they mostly got it right, but I still don't like the rest of there line up.

This is just me and I know a lot like apple and that's fine, but I was not so luckly and or could not live with the limit's like no flash.

    Now back on topic:

I don't really think PC mag was fair to sprint or AT&T for that matter. They seemed like they just want to pick verizon as the wniner and be done with it.

  12. Considering the WiMAX fiasco (perceived or otherwise) and the current state of their 3G network... the easy conclusion to make is that sprint doesn't have a good network. People are lazy - they will just look at past performance. All sprint can do is prove them wrong.

Now, media loves peak speeds because it shows measurable numbers that anyone can understand. It's not vague, hard to grasp, or confusing. It's a simple, completely irrelevant number that charts well.

Regardless of what average speeds are, marketing revolves around top speeds and coverage - just take a look at Verizon's marketing:

    Nation's fastest 4G LTE network

Verizon's 4G LTE network is larger than every other 4G LTE network combined

    7397310010_3039ac27ce_c.jpg

Now, regardless of if you never travel to where Verizon has 4G LTE, people like the marketing story - they feel like they are getting the best. Normal people don't run speed tests every day, monitor network coverage, and post about it in forums.

When I have to look at the fastest 4G network ad I want to rip the tv in half and I like my tv very much by the way. You don't really see the "speed" on a phone, so 4-5mbs on AT&T vs 10-20mbs on verizon is not going to make any one man AT&T's is the slowest thing on earth. So really to see 4-5mbs vs 10+ you need to hook it up to a PC, but then verizon will come down with the throttle hammer of DOOM.

    This.

It one of the reasons why Apple has a successful following. You can take a <add anything you like here> and wrap it up nicely in colorful colors and add a bow tie on it it will still be the same old <add anything you want here>. but market it like its the second coming of bliss and people will be lining up around blocks just to get their hands on it. It's just like a pair of sneakers, any can do its job, but if i have a pair of latest and greatest Nike that jump over the moon, then you are perceived as cool.

If Sprints LTE is even a tiny bit faster than Wimax, I'll be happy. But from what I see in that report its much faster and that makes me very very happy. .

    TS

Verizon=apple IN EVERY way, they are both liers and slower than what they clam and are UNreliabile crap.

  13. I know a guy who has been getting throttled by verizon, but his doesn't kick in until 5GB and he is only throttled to around 2Mbps. He actually doesn't care that he is throttled. He usually used 25-30GB per month. That is still high, but not apparently high enough to get on the VZW lockdown plan like you are on. The other difference might be that he was not tethering, he was downloading and hosting torrents on his phone.

I tethered with out using a app or root. It just let me use usb tethering. I used it for HD video and steam DL. ( I hate steam, but I got to use it.) I used it to DL BF3 to my laptop one night.( That was 20GB right there.) I don't do torrent's at all so that's not why.

I guessed no one was really using the network at the time, becuase the "good" 4G phones were $300 a pop on a 2 year and I was the only one I saw with a verzion 4G phone. ( Now in the last month I have seen 3 4G verizon phones and two 4G LTE AT&T phones in my aera.) The really odd part is that I can "unthrottle" myself if I reboot in a good signal aera and well it's really odd they wait about 24 hours before "throttling" me again.

  14. How far away are u from the pole or cable box by the road I was getting the same thing at my house so I made the rerun my cable to my house and got a new cable box I also was getting like 2-3mb down 2mb up after the did all of that I get the speeds that i pay for 30mb down and 4mb up

    Some what far.

As soon as I get back from my NEXT trip, I will call them. Becuase I can't log in no matter what I do, so I need them to do it and then I will make a note of the user name and password.

    P.S Thank's to all

  15. I can guarantee that if you use 84gb on Sprint's LTE network, you will see throttled speeds there as well or the cancellation of your contract. Mobile data is for mobile phones, 84gb is obvious and blatant abuse.

Sent from my CM9 Toro using Forum Runner

I only did that one time and I really avg 10-30GB a month and I know it's high as mess. I knew I could be throttled for that (Even if they said no way would I be throttled), but then now they have locked me down( I have been "throttled" at 2GB before). That's not my only issue with there network, just to note I think verizon is over rated( I have droped 2 call's vs one on AT&T and 3G/4G just drops all over the place, from day one). I only used it at night to try and not stress the network, but I did not really look at my useage intill the end of the month.

I came here to get some info on 4G and what it's limits are, becuase I don't know. I guess Becuase it's about 10 times faster= 10 x or more data can be used before issues pop up. I tryed to find a limit for 4G LTE data use and I could not find it, so I took a guess. I guessed 30GB to 50GB was ok to use on 4G LTE due to it's speed. ( Now I know it's more likely only about 2-3x 3G, but I still don't really know for sure.)

I never ment to inply that I would want to use 84GB on sprints network, I would likely end up using less than 10GB.

Edit: It's likely going to be a bit and I hope by then my home ISP is fixed so I don't use 84GB any more.( well I really would not be able to any ways with out throttling or the phone over heating.)

  16. That's a throttled connection all right... The upload speeds are normal for LTE, and are well above what a T1 would provide. What did you do to PO verizon? Lol

Sent from my CM9 Toro using Forum Runner

Well I ment to say it felt that way when trying to DL any thing. What did I do... I used 84GB in one month back in jan, so now any time I go over 4GB, BAM throttling kicks in. I was told about 10 times by verizon that this was not the case and then I started to think it was the phone/network. As you have seen I am on the unlimited data plan. You can look at my 20 videos all showing about the same thing if you think this was a one time thing.

Now as to why I used 84GB, I was told over and over that on verizon 4G unlimited = unlimited and they did not care how much I used and that I could even run my home internet off it if I wanted to, it was so good.

The point is, that I will never likely know what the deal is and I am sure if I had the time to call them 10 more or so times I could find out, but now I am really going to try and make my home ISP work right. I may try and get this fixed one day and/or drop them, but for now I will put it off.
