  1. I don't have Google Voice integration but still have the issue. When it works the text will send immediately, otherwise it gets stuck on sending and apparently sends it multiple times. It seems to me like it's an eCSFB problem, since others have reported missing calls as well. It's as though the phone isn't properly switching over to CDMA reliably. 2. So, if I understand correctly, in many locations (such as the SF Bay Area), Sprint has enough spectrum for only a single 5x5 carrier on both 1900 and 800, yet they strongly prefer b25. However, even with a weak b25 signal (-117 dBm) my phone (Nexus 6) almost always sticks there instead of going to b26 coming from the same tower (-90 dBm). It causes cell standby to show 19% time without signal. I'm on wifi so my phone is just idling there. Is this just going to be the way it is? Or are they going to start balancing between the two bands better? If the spectrum is equal I don't understand why they favor b25 so much. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  3. Ahh, yeah that could be a problem. With both UPS and FedEx you need to verify your address/identity by answering credit report style questions. So I doubt your work address would quality. That being said, if they leave a delivery slip you can use the number of that to reroute it I think. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  4. If you sign up for the FedEx service that notifies you when a shipping label has been created for your address, they may let you change the destination. In other words, you could reroute it to Florida I think. You may have to pay a ~$20 fee to reroute the package, but that's still cheaper than re-sending it. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  5. It looks like Sprint may be adding the Motorola IMEIs to their whitelist: http://www.reddit.com/r/nexus6/comments/2mpten/update_regarding_the_nexus_6_on_sprint_xpost_from/
  6. Wifi. When using CDMA the quality is worse than just using Sprint (and adds noticeable latency), which makes sense, an extra layer is added in. I had just assumed call centers and such just had awful compression until I tried with Google Voice over wifi and was blown away at how much better it sounded and didn't constantly cut out.
  7. This happens with every call center I've called in the past 2 years, and it's crystal clear with Google Voice/Hangouts on the same device, which points to Sprint being the culprit. It also happens when I talk to non-Sprint customers, but it's less noticeable. Even calling Sprint has the same problem. The easy give away is that the call center wait music is silent half the time due to the audio compression, cutting in and out. It's sometimes hard to tell if I'm still on hold or not.
  8. Got an email from Motorola saying the order was canceled, no reason was given. I called and waited on hold for 45 minutes before just giving up, but apparently they're canceling a lot of people's orders and either saying they aren't actually canceled or are re-creating them and bumping them to the end of the queue. It looks like Sprint will be carrying the 64GB model if their Twitter rep is correct: https://twitter.com/mpat95/status/530785479428280320. So I'll probably just pick one up from Sprint if I can't get one on Google Play on Wednesday. I wonder if it'll be in stores or online only?
  9. Hmm, valid point, it doesn't say which carriers it's for. I'd call Sprint and ask but I'm sure at this point they won't know anything anyway. I can understand them locking out T-Mobile versions, but it'd just be odd to block ones purchased directly from the manufacturer. Worst case I return it to Motorola and tell them why. I would purchase from Sprint, but it seem like they're only going to stock the 32GB model. More than likely if one pops up on Google Play I'll order it there and cancel the Motorola order. 10. Nexus 6 available directly from Motorola. Just got a 64GB blue, delivery date of Dec 2. http://www.motorola.com/us/consumers/nexus-6-header/Nexus-6/nexus-6-motorola-us.html?utm_source=CJ&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=5152777&PublisherName=Skimlinks
  11. Doesn't Sprint domestically lock all the phones (even unsubsidized) sold through their stores? I care about that mostly for resale value (ie Sprint iPhones sell for much less than any other carrier's because they're locked). I'm not clear as to whether that will apply to the Nexus 6 though. I was also under the impression that Sprint internationally locks all phones and won't unlock it for 90 days after purchase, regardless of whether you paid full price. Is that actually the case?
  12. My only reason is so that I'm sure it'll be carrier unlocked (both internationally and domestically).
  13. Does anyone know where I can look up permits for Oakland? I think they may have moved the tower near me sometime in the past couple months. I noticed today on Signal Check that the LTE signal near my apartment had increased dramatically, from around -100 dBm to -80 dBm. I'm still using a single band phone, so it's band 25. Signal Check was reporting 1x1900 connected to the closest tower (GPS coordinates http://goo.gl/Anr1NG, I was on San Pablo between 40th and 41st), which matched up with the note I had in Signal Check for that LTE tower. It's practically line of sight down San Pablo. The strange thing was that 1x was still reporting the same -90dBm RSSI as usual. Since they're presumably coming from the same panels, I was surprised the LTE signal would be so much stronger and wondered if something had gotten changed. I went to Google Maps, but I can't find the tower where it used to be (and is supposed to be). The satellite imagery is reporting as being updated from 2014, and street view is from August 2014. The panels used to be on top of the California Hotel, but I don't see them there anymore. There were 3 panels right underneath the sign facing 580 (north part of the building). The tower is still broadcasting the same GPS coordinates on 1x that it always has, and the LTE GCI is the same. There's no other tower nearby (40th and San Pablo) that could reasonably have a signal as low as -80dBm. I suppose my phone could have been reporting incorrect information to Signal Check, though the numbers were updating/adjusting slightly as I walked so they weren't stale values.
  14. I apologize if this has been asked before, but why doesn't Sprint default to using the HD Voice codec for all calls instead of only when they determine both ends are HD Voice capable? I ask because my call quality is typically awful, especially when calling call centers or support centers. It just cuts in and out, despite having a good signal. Calls to Sprint customers in the same location yields good quality (and the phone shows HD Voice was used). When I call the same call centers using Google Voice (via VoIP) the call is crystal clear. So this seems to indicate it's the codec Sprint is using between the tower and the phone that's causing the audio to cut in and out, I'm guessing due to high compression. Couldn't this be fixed by just using the HD Voice codec all the time? Is there some technical reason why this isn't done? I know the quality will be degraded at the transition to POTS, but that still seems like it would be much higher quality than the non-HD voice codec Sprint is currently using.
  15. Sorry if this has been asked before (or if it's only permitted in the Sponsor's forum), but in the East Bay some sites have site IDs that start with SF, whereas others start with FN. Does anyone know what the distinction is? What does FN stand for?
  16. While quickly researching what a CSIM is, I stumbled across this: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1644014 Does anyone know if this is true and if it'll also apply to the Nexus 6? It seems really ridiculous that they'd domestic lock the phone permanently and internationally lock it by default if you bought it full price.
  17. It seems they're actually clueless. I tried preemptively ordering a nano SIM from Sprint International. They at first said OK and I ended up receiving a micro SIM yesterday. I contacted them and said they sent the wrong one, but they insisted it was correct for a Nexus 5 (my original request had it in writing that it was for an unreleased Nexus 6 that took a nano SIM). After a back and forth where I explained again that it wasn't for a Nexus 5, they refused to send a nano SIM saying it wasn't in their database and they didn't know what size it took.... I said that it was a regular nano SIM and they made some excuse saying to prevent damage to my equipment and ensure optimal performance they can't send it out until it's in their database. I'm tempted to just call and ask for a SIM for a Moto X. I'm guessing that takes the same nano SIM? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  18. If non-Sprint carriers get it first, or some carriers have the 64GB model and Sprint doesn't, is there any reason why we couldn't just buy it from a different carrier and use it on Sprint? Or do they usually force you to have an active account with them? I'm guessing T-Mobile would be the easiest carrier to do this with. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  19. I just got each of them to show for a second, added to cart, then when I clicked checkout it said my cart was empty...
  20. Do the released FCC docs show the lab RF performance? I'm getting the implication that the lab performance is poor?
  21. I'm pretty sure the iPhone 5 and 5c are nano as well.
  22. Is there a reason you couldn't reuse your existing SIM and just get it cut to the right size? Looks like you can buy a cutting tool online for $5. I'm surprised the stores don't have SIM cutters for the reps to use actually.
  23. So it's been announced that wifi calling will be available through an OTA update on T-mobile sometime early next year. What do you think the odds are that Sprint will get it as well? Also, this may be a stupid question, but does it support HD Voice on Sprint? Does the Nexus 5 currently support it?
  24. Is there an existing spreadsheet for any GCI mappings in this market? If so, there are a few sites I can add in Emeryville, Berkeley, and Oakland.
