  1. Naw, he seemed happy for Sprint. I had to reread that part to make sure, but it's pretty clear he sees Sprint differently than he did two years ago. http://www.pcmag.com/article/345123/fastest-mobile-networks-2016 The improvement in New York, San Francisco, and Seattle in particular is notable. 2. The PC Mag speed tests are out. Lots of good news for Sprint. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  3. Being at the tower top with RRU blasting sometimes way too hard is part of AT&T's strong signal program. Too bad that doesn't always translate to a better user experience. Not all areas benefit from that. In rural, it makes some sense. Suburban and urban? Not so much. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  4. Sprint needs uplink CA and devices that support it as well. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  5. It pains me to see the marketing people who have little to no technical background throwing around technical terms like failure rate. He could have argued the old standby, coverage. At least he would then have a point. Or even arguing capacity: "All that spectrum and your network is still slower than ours." People can get that. No one gives a crap about failure rate. 6. More low band could help too. *Thinks of 600 mhz auction, gets sad* Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  7. It is not an apples to apples comparison when we compare macros on existing towers or even new larger towers to cells that are in people's neighborhoods. The least mobile providers can do when deploying in neighborhoods is to be a good citizen. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  8. Small cells can be hidden on rustic light poles that are short with a little effort. Not much. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  9. I won't go that far. At the least I think some effort should be made to disguise. Especially small cells that can be hidden without a performance penalty. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  10. http://www.rcrwireless.com/20160610/opinion/worst-week-sprint-listens-t-mobile-yells-tag2 Nice article by Dan Meyer. Nice to see there's still some quality writing done in the world of mobile journalism. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  11. Irony: the provider in question for service in the case of caspar347 that is doing the small cell deployment around where he lives? Verizon. Not only is Verizon doing extensive small cell and DAS, but they face NIMBY too. Difference is they don't get the heat on the Internet over NIMBY to the degree Sprint is getting. Now granted, if one wants to make the case Sprint should disguise better and plan things better, or even use Crown Castle instead of Mobilitie, I am fine with that. However I saw one site where people were running down on small cells because Sprint was doing small cells. Yet Verizon is doing extensive small cells and not a word is said. 12. The Reddit threads on the T-Mobile sub seem to be guessing Qualcomm, not Intel. I could see AT&T asking for Intel, because that's the AT&T/Death Star thing to do. Also T-Mobile wants things like LAA, EVS, better WiFi Calling algorithms, and other network features like that. I see the VZW/Sprint/T-Mobile model being a thing powered by Qualcomm where AT&T is the US Intel model provider. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  13. St. Louis seems to be doing better lately. I suspect that Sprint's cell grid there is dense compared to a lot of places. AFAIK there hasn't been a lot of Mobilitie movement in STL yet. Yet Sprint seems to be dealing with traffic better than the other carriers in very dense locations like Busch Stadium. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  14. I will admit, in the interest of full disclosure, that I'm thinking of porting my currently unused AT&T number into Magenta solely to claim the stock share. I am considering getting financing through Apple for the iPhone Upgrade Program and that way, I'm not locked into any carrier. Never again will I likely finance through any carrier. Using Magenta as the daily driver will be, um, interesting here. Especially since I'm in one of the few regions of the country that USCC or a similar region doesn't have B12 and yet neither does T-Mobile. I think Southern Illinois might be the new Mobile Frontier. On a side note, I did claim the free Frosty yesterday since I had errands to run in Carbondale. T-Mobile was getting between 3-15 Mbps on a single 5 MHz of PCS LTE. That said, and here comes the huge caveat, there aren't many college students there right now. T-Mobile is going to have to get AWS 15x15 running there and get more cells around Carbondale. None of the towers around Carbondale are owned by the carriers at this stage, it's either rooftops or towers owned by Crown Castle/SBA/American Tower. To compare, Sprint has B41 through most of Carbondale at this stage. To be honest I'd be OK with an expansion cell in Sparta and Steeleville, along with additional Carbondale cells. The Carbondale cells are needed.
  15. Sprint only has 73 mhz of B41 where I live. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  16. Isn't there still plenty of B41 in rural areas for small ISP'S to use? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  17. I didn't get any text myself. Note, my T-Mobile number is not out of Southern Illinois, it is out of Chicago (312 area code). Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  18. On another note the T-Mobile free stuff servers are crunched. Legere appeared on Good Morning America about the program and servers went AWOL after that. I entered my T-Mobile number and got the spinning wheel 15 minutes ago. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  19. Problem is Comcast sucks at that. ???? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  20. If Comcast bought a wireless provider like T-Mobile or Sprint, I would just doubt Comcast doing anything innovative with it. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  21. What is left to do that could be innovative? A lot of what I was actually thinking T-Mobile would do was on the technical side. NumberSync on steroids or something like that. 3GPP release 12? Internet of things? It doesn't seem like machine to machine is a huge focus for T-Mobile at this time. I guess my dream is a provider that could serve fiber to the home and fiber speeds everywhere else. One integrated solution that blows everything else out of the water. I look at the market and most of the bundled and integrated solutions suck here in the US. Verizon was probably the closest to going where I wanted this to all go but with Wall Street demands on profit and dividends, that was a pipe dream. Is the US really very competitive in broadband overall? I think we know the answer to the question. Yet I don't see a true breaking of the duopoly unless someone can challenge with an integrated package. Also to be noted, the state of TV sucks right now. That is the industry most ripe for disruption right now IMO. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  22. It's an interesting way to do referrals, I'll give them that. On another forum I got shouted down because I said T-Mobile Tuesday's wasn't innovative. I said it was a nice program but not innovative and some jet crashing in the desert got emotionally upset.
  23. I'm truly surprised Verizon took the bait like they did. If I'm parachuted into Basking Ridge, I'm writing this statement. "Our commitment to network quality speaks for itself. We don't have to run commercials time after time touting the quality of our network because people know. Independent testing knows, too. We have been RootMetrics #1 for a very long time, in fact since the second half of 2013 when RootMetrics started doing national tests. What we have is consistent network performance over the largest chunk of America compared to any of our competitors. Don't take our word for it. Use our network and see the difference. Use us in comparison to any competitor. You'll see the difference."
