  1. As far as the AT&T plans go, I still don't see where the cost advantage is that great over Verizon. Considering their network isn't as great as Verizon's, I don't see why they don't cut prices or or offer more features to compete. I guess their main focus is pushing "unlimited" with bundling AT&T mobile service and DIRECTV. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  2. If it happens, my gut instinct is that it would be the T-Mobile brand that lives. Good part is their people would have a deep band 41 small cell hetnet to place a top the T-Mobile network and their large urban based macro grid. Bad part is those of you who love CDMA would be getting to say goodbye to it. That said, on some level it makes sense but I don't think Sprint should hold off macro cell expansion because they think they can be merged into T-Mobile. As a Verizon VoLTE customer I don't particularly miss CDMA much but I could see the Sprint folks reacting differently. I'm personally glad that I have simultaneous voice and data now. Also VoLTE reliability for Southern Illinois is rock solid. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  3. Is this pic confirming 4x4 MIMO? It is curious that the four lines are attached to a Note 7. This is from one of Neville Ray's Twitter photos. For some reason, I couldn't put a link to the direct image up. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  4. Not on Verizon homey. ???? Fortunately I do have an upgrade to burn. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  5. Didn't work. The phone charges in 2 hours without fast charging. Might just see if I can burn an upgrade for the Note 7. That would make the issues with micro USB a moot point. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  6. I may try clearing the partition cache next. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  7. It isn't working on my battery pack cable or my other cable which replaced the Samsung one. [emoji22] Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  8. You have to have really good headphones to exploit all that, right? I have looked into planar magnetic headphones and decided against it when I realized costs would be too high. UHQ has promise but not a lot of support IIRC. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  9. Anyone have issues with Fast Charging working consistently? I am having a beast of a time getting it to work consistently. Tried different cables and chargers. I think it may be a USB port issue. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  10. AT&T just isn't as good as Verizon here in Chester and the surrounding area. It is far better than it was but the way my family plan (my mother is on my plan) works on Verizon I have the 16 GB Carryover plan with Safety Mode and Canada/Mexico calling for $160 a month for two lines. AT&T is actually more expensive. T-Mobile lacks B12 here and Sprint really only covers the Interstates here. If anything I'm trying to peel people off the Deathstar. I have a couple of friends on AT&T and their Snapchats are almost always out of order due to AT&T not sending out snaps. As you're about to see off Speedtest, if it ain't broke... 11. Arsyn is just not in a good T-Mobile market. I see a lot of the same in the other part of the state, i.e. downstate Southern Illinois with no band 12 on the horizon. Honestly they're behind in Illinois compared to most states with the exception of places like Wisconsin and the Great Plains states where T-Mobile is just starting a long term network buildout. It is what it is. I was in Ohio and Kentucky the last few weeks and it seemed like T-Mobile was way ahead there compared to IL. Those states are probably more of an indicator of T-Mobile's network and what it is like nationwide compared to IL. T-Mobile has low band in 29 of the top 30 markets. I'm in the one market that isn't. I've accepted my market (St. Louis) probably isn't a good barometer of T-Mobile.
  12. Long time in not chiming in, but if Sprint gets a simplified plan structure I am not convinced the 50% expiration is going to be that big of a deal. People are obviously seeing better network quality if churn is down to 1.4%. I'm not saying Sprint is clearly back yet but the progress is starting to finally tick the right way. It isn't the rapid quarter after quarter dominance that T-Mobile is showing, but I don't think I have to put down Sprint's results which are also good to lift up T-Mobile's. I think those who are looking at it that way should change their outlook a bit. I don't buy into the idea that for Sprint to succeed that T-Mobile has to fail. Or for T-Mobile to succeed that Sprint has to fail for that matter. Who should be concerned? Verizon and AT&T. Their new marketing campaigns and rebrands aren't going so great. Not to mention AT&T is going back to pushing unlimited after swearing they were done with it.
  13. Robbiatti literally poured liquor out on CDMA. I am not surprised that he said that given his background at Telstra, but it is still noteable. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  14. I'm not even a mod here anymore and I've been really hard on Sprint lately. Yet I'm having people dox me on Fierce. Yes I'm still listed as such but it might be time to delist me as such. Getting really sick and tired of it. Especially considering the hate is more or less coming from one individual. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  15. Look at the mess he inherited at Sprint. It's a minor miracle Sprint is still above water. Did you see where things were at the end of the Hesse tenure? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  16. Would Son promote Marcelo to that job? If that happens, who runs Sprint? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  17. B12 can't help where I live since I'm in one of the few places where T-Mobile doesn't have it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  18. When we talk about the needs for 5G which include getting paper bag spectrum, by that I mean real paper bag spectrum north of 5 GHz, penetrating walls, 1 Gbps speeds on average, and sub 1 ms latency... What is really needed for that is a breakthrough in air interface. Hope either Nokia or Ericsson have something really good up their sleeve. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  19. You mean on Wideband CDMA like what the 3GPP evolution specified, or old TDMA based GSM voice? The former was very good at it. The other sucked and was a large reason why I dumped AT&T for Verizon long ago. The former didn't reach where I lived into 2013. Wasn't on 850 MHz until 2015 here. T-Mobile never bothered to put the former here, it was only AT&T. Specific generations of the technology matter. As for VoLTE, it is a completely different beast with lots of different implementations. T-Mobile has a different VoLTE implementation than Verizon, for example. I might have to write an entire technical post on this and ON VoLTE standardization. It's going to be a while, though, before the dust settles in that regard. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  20. I'm genuinely surprised T-Mobile hasn't got a big small cell install in the field yet. If they do I don't see it yet. I realize LAA is part of their plan but that is primarily for congested indoor environments like shopping malls, big box stores, and large office buildings. That isn't for deployment on macros. T-Mobile could use small cells for the congested hotspots. The use of B41 in the hotspot areas is a huge reason why Sprint speeds got way better in the PC Mag testing. T-Mobile could use LAA in cities like Chicago and St. Louis where they have congestion in crowded areas. Verizon is a huge monolith to spend problems away. T-Mobile doesn't have that luxury. Even with an incredible network leader, TMo has to be very disciplined with network spending because they lack the scale of Verizon and AT&T. That is a large part of why T-Mobile couldn't modernize all rural sites yet. Expanding coverage is a good thing for T-Mobile but it is a long term bet. Verizon is likely to push harder on VoLTE. They aren't to the point where they can pull CDMA out of phones yet but they are to the point where they can default VoLTE. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  21. Downtown Sparta, IL. Gonna know AT&T on top. Sprint on the bottom? Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  22. Nope. iMessage in particular is way ahead of anything else on Android. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  23. My Verizon line has similar issues on Marshmallow. I think Samsung fucked something up with RF from Lollipop to Marshmallow. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  24. I can see logic to some of the results based on local observations. For example, the St. Louis tests showed slow downs for T-Mobile in the city of St. Louis. I tested a T-Mobile SIM in a lot of the same areas like near Ikea, in the South Side on Manchester and in the Grove, and only started to hit faster results in West County. The fastest T-Mobile results I got were in Monroe County IL on fully modernized exurban sites. Meanwhile the Sprint users on here have seen great progress, see the Busch Stadium tests. That is the most congested area for everyone, usually. Verizon is still really good most places. But what I fail to understand is why so many people in St. Louis are still on AT&T. I suspect a lot of the slowdowns on T-Mobile are due to their success in peeling customers off AT&T. Maybe Sprint should target AT&T. They seems to be the most ripe for it IMO.
