Hi folks, first time posting and I donated.
I work at 3707 Schriever Avenue in Mather. I looked at the tower behind our building and it still looks like techiegirl's photo from mid-july.
I am not a Sprint customer yet but considering becoming one, but only after the issues are worked out and there is reliable 4G LTE coverage near where I work and where I live (North Natomas). I have Verizon now and am on grandfathered unlimited data with a 3G device that is on its last legs.
Based on what I have been reading, it seems like a hellish experience datawise in this market due to a long delayed modernization and the growing pains that accompany that modernization unfolding now.
I was really interested in Galaxy Note 3, but I'm now wondering if that would be a wise choice after seeing the conversation about it not being tri-band. Thoughts?
Wow you have the grandfather unlimited data from Verizon .
The network won't be completely (99%+) done in this region til I'd say middle to late next year. It's very limited.
Verizon has by far the best lte coverage and soon they should be deploying their next generation of lte. But the verizon prices and reputations with phone manufactures scare me off.

Thank you for confirming that for me. I knew it was the right decision to write that article about it.

Kinda bummed we didn't get any of the note tablets :/
Hopefully the new Nexus 10 2 can be LTE and support Sprint's network.

I think you can find your answer right here in this thread which at one point was one of the most active threads on this site and now you don't hardly see any PR guys posting any more, LOL. Its probably because they are happy as hell with their sprint service now, after all the PR market is probably the market thats closest to being 100% complete.
Haha I bet. This thread has a total of 165 pages
I'm gonna try to trace back and see. But like you said they must be really happy!

How's the LTE in Puerto Rico?
Is it easy to connect? Does it stay connected? How about the speeds?
Have a wedding there in 5 weeks so it'd be nice to upload hundreds of pics on 4G and not wait to use Wifi in the hotel. Also, gonna tour the island for a couple of days.

There is no work done. The permit is approved for that tower but not issued. You can't work without an issued permit.
How long does it usually take for a permit to be issues after its been approved?
Thanks for that link

Anyone know if the new Nexus 5 will support tri-band ?
I heard it'll be coming to Sprint along with the HTC One Max
-
Nope. Sprint is not upgraded. They have the old nortel antennas on the top. Second down is ATT with a RRUS11 for LTE. 3rd down is Clearwire wimax.
Gonna try and get some more pics from a different angle tomorrow and try to see if there's anything named Sprint.
2 months ago they told me they were starting work on that tower when I first saw a boom lift and lte panels there
-
Took these pics today. It's the LTE tower of Sprint on French Camp Rd in Stockton.
Not the best but it was the best I could do since there were like 2 trucks and a car next to it. I saw them working on the units below the tower. Maybe they're testing it

As far as I know Sprint is the only carrier that has cell equipment on this tower.
-
My gf has a HTC one and lately the " No Sim Card" has popped up which is weird.
How can I fix this for her?
She has sprint and android 4.3
-
Does anyone have any information on what's causing the delays in lte in the lodi/stockton area? ass luisBOSS pointed out, there are a lot of sites that have LTE hardware setup. I understand there are a lot of factors, I'm just curious if anyone ahs any juicy details
Yeah! I remember seen that downtown panels since May or something like that.
We know it's there. It's just a matter of being tested and turned on live :/ who knows how long more.

I was able to snap a pic of the tower by highway 99 and morada lane. The location of it is:
38.04146815156929, -121.26031465017881,
9811 California 99, Stockton, CA 95212, USA
Look closely between the trees
This one is a little far away but based on my older pics the panels on the right are new.
The location for this one is
37.953670743576886, -121.28588367515694,
1-99 North Sutter Street, Stockton, CA 95202, USA
This is the new pic from the other day:
this is the old one from a month(ish) ago:
I think most of Stockton already has the LTE being built. It just needs to go live
Most sprint locations I've seen have already LTE equipment.
Taking longer than it has to :/

Most interesting!
True! My parents went to a mexican artist concert on Friday night and said they had good 4g LTE signal inside the arena.
I see my mom made very good use of the LTE with the countless uploaded pics and videos

Has anyone gotten TD LTE in the San Jose area?
Usually there twice a month.
Lately the 4G has become stronger and more reliable. I get LTE pretty much everywhere I go in the South Bay.
-
Anyone know if cities like Livermore, Pleseanton, Dublin, and Fremont have TD-LTE right now?
Thanks
-
Yep. There are a few holes here and there but it's pretty ubiquitous especially where it counts. Everywhere you get wimax then you'll get TD-LTE eventually & no it's not compatible with 3G and yes there's TD-LTE in folsom.
Hundreds of new TD-LTE sites go live every week across all markets. Gotta love how fast you can deploy LTE when you have backhaul available and are doing an overlay...
Sweet, so I should expect TD-LTE in Stockton right?
Whenever the towers here go live.. *crickets*

Me too. It'll be one of the first to grab it if it does. IT HAS TO!!!
Gonna give my sprint ipad mini to my mom
-
So based on what has been said so far, I can't use it with my Galaxy S3 and I'll need a specific model of smartphone if I wanted the service.
Also, is there anything special about this service over the current 4G LTE that they are currently propping up?
You can upgrade your Galaxy S3 to the new LG G2 to be able to use the new LTE with Sprint's new upgrade program.
Not sure if the Note 3 will support tri band. Rumors have it that Samsung will release an updated S4 that will run on Sprint's tri band network and HTC releasing the One Max that can support it as well.
LG G2 so far is the only confirmed phone that can.
-
Amazing just amazing. Td-lte is already live in Sacramento... just wow...
Grab tribands now if you want TD-LTe now!
Sent from my SPH-D710
which area in Sac?
-
Even better news!
Rumors have it that Sprint will introduce their new Upgrade program. It's called Sprint One Up. You can upgrade every 13 months at much cheaper prices than AT&T and T-Mobile.
Galaxy Note 3 or LG G2 for me next month! Can't wait to go and test that TD LTE in SF
-
Bummer. Galaxy Note 3 won't support Sprint's Tri-Band Network.
Surprised Sprint is not heavily promotting the LG G2 who supports Sprint's Tri-Band Network.
If only I was eligible for an upgrade this year :/
-
I haven't heard anything for Sac State yet. Reception is awful on campus, particularly in the union. Hopefully by the end of the year.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
Definitely don't want to deal with awful service. I experience that everyday on my campus. Battery drains so fast and phone gets too hot. On top of that the wifi is the worst thing ever.
-
Any updates on LTE in Chico State or Sac State?
Having LTE around or on campus is gonna be a huge deciding factor when transferring. I know San Jose State has LTE
-
Also gonna try and map some areas of hwy 4 west that leads into stockton. Was getting LTE signal closer to stockton than usual. Not sure if it is the Sprint tower that is on that hwy or if it's from Brentwood.
I know that tower is by the US post office so I'll try to make time to go check that tower out and upload some pics here.
I saw new LTE pannels on a tower by off I-5 south late last week when heading back from school. Not sure if that tower is only Sprint's but I haven't seen LTE pannels there before and usually I get 5 bars on 3G when I pass by it. Lately it has been 2-3 bars.
Oh, that tower is located on Washington street.
I'll check that one out, the one on hwy 4 west, and the other sprint tower on charter way going to hwy 4. Whenever I head to Modesto or Manteca I'll check the one on Airport way.

Wait,
so this phone won't support all 3 bands of LTE straight out of the box?
kinda confused
