I have a box of aerosol cans in the garage. Let's have a party..
I am not sure the global effects of that party will be significant, but the local effects might be.

Hahaha.. I love the comments that say XYZ city doesn't have it but such and such does? When you look at Sensorly and know that isn't true. Shows you the true user base out there that the carriers have to deal with on a daily basis.
Some of them where almost predictable! If I was in the mood (and had time) I might stir up some trouble by posting the truth...

It's officially announced today Beaumont/Port Arthur and Lake Charles all have LTE now.

I now feel dumberer after reading all the comments about the article....

And some 3g updates too.
They seem to be on pace to have most sites 3G completed by the end of the year...

Everyone still getting consistently high speed tests?
I haven't been north of the canal in a couple of weeks so I can't comment.
-
Hi all. Just joined up here to contribute what I can. Just noticed LTE on my S4 this morning. Honestly I had been keeping it off since it was non-existent in DE or my area when I got the S4 (and on the S3).
I took this screenshot if it helps.
Welcome! In the last 2 to 3 weeks we have seen 6 sites go live in Delaware. The good news for you is that they are all close by.
-
Think tower 6 lte on duncan road near kirkwood site. Cant confirm until tommorow night . Anybody get overthere map it.
That is number 6 in Delaware for sure. Nice job finding it before the acceptance report that confirmed it. Someone needs to map it on sensorly though
Now, who will find number 7 and where will it be???
-
How is it working in general? Can you stream audio without interruption? Maybe the speed test itself is the problem? Beyond that I have no other thoughts unless it is specific to your account or phone....
-
I am not in the area so I can't say if its your phone or the towers. Hopefully it is resolved quick.
-
Ahh ok that makes sense
I have never had a knack for explaining things but glad it helped. Another way you can see it is by looking at sensorly. If you know where a live tower is you will often see that the signal stretches to (or past) another tower that isn't live.
-
To me that makes zero sense. When it was 3g if was fine. .Now that the tower was upgraded is overloaded? At 8am on a thursday.
Since the phones can be connected to two towers, one for 1x and one for 3G or 4G, it could create an imbalance. The phones will hang on to that 4G connection for as long as possible. So as they move away from the Kirkwood tower they hand off the 1x connection to another tower but keep the 4G connection until the extreme edge of the signal. The result is you have more phones connected than what is typically expected.
Once you have a couple of surrounding towers go live with 4G that should not be an issue. Of course it is entirely possibly they are back making adjustments and that is causing a problem too.
-
Went outside 4g signal went to 90.. same thing
If you aren't getting better speeds outside, I think it goes back to the airlink being overloaded.
-
It looks like you are getting your 1x & 3G signal from a different tower.
It is possible that the difference between 100 & 115 may be enough to go from a decent 6mbps to sub 3G speeds.
-
Goes from 100 - 115
That could be it. From everything I have read LTE is very dependent on signal strength. 100-115 probably would fall in the poor to unusable range.
What is your signal strengths for 1x and 3G?
-
Speed test just came in at .11 Mbps down and 1.71 up I'm by prices corner which isn't exactly on top of the tower but I usually get 4-7 down here.. 11-20 of I go outside
What is the signal strength?
-
My guess is the one on Kirkwood is overloading. Since 3G is still getting acceptable speeds it probably isn't the backhaul but the airlink.
-
I hope my updates were ok. That was pretty intense for me especially trying to feed you guys some pics!
Your updates where fine.
-
Would reducing power output from the tower help with the reflection issue?
It might, I believe this is what they have done with the sites that have 800mhz in Ohio. I am sure someone will correct me.
-
Did not know phone can connect to different towers same time. This would make sense whats going on ?
Yeah they can be connected to one tower for 1x and another for either CDMA or LTE.
-
Bsl I think is that site.
It looks like you are connected to two different towers.
-
It sure looks like 2 on sensorly.
-
So most all towers will be upgraded to 3G/800/4G, there are quite a few towers labeled as 4G only...
Yes.
-
I got a couple pictures of towers... so exciting... really the kid just needed a nap so I took him for a drive.
This tower is labeled as a 3G/800 and is closest to my house, it also is pretty far back from the road with no public access, and I couldn't get a picture of the full tower
This tower is labeled as 3G and is the second closest tower to my house
super exciting... I take it both these towers have yet to be upgraded fully.
The first appears to have NV equipment up and all its legacy equipment removed. I would say the only thing that needs to be completed is the backhaul before this site is 4G accepted.
The second looks like Sprint is on the second rack and again has NV equipment and no legacy equipment. Notice what appears to be a microwave dish is also present. Therefore the fiber connection maybe at another tower (that will have a similar dish pointing at this one).

Robert and a few others have put an obscene number hours into presenting that information for us...what's throwing $5-10 at them for their time?
I think the money goes to paying for the hosting service, I doubt Robert its getting rich of this website.

A site can be accepted but not live. The pattern in DE so far has been within about 24/48 hours after acceptance they go live. I suspect some of your problems earlier may have been you connecting to the Duncan site while it was testing.
