  1. In East Texas I've had Sprint roam on metropcs, and Alltel. Had a T-Mobile Sim in my nexus 5 and said it was roaming on Chinook wireless, which is labeled as cellular one. That is sad because I'm getting coverage from a roaming partner the next county over, with a farther tower, than I am with T-Mobile with a closer tower.

  2. Hmm I was thinking they could be upgrading the fiber while connecting the two networks ,In city Suddenlink, to rural northland. I've seen so many spools if fiber. Just on the side if the highway up 2 miles from this spot is another spool, with line running to the pole. Must be approaching time to see better internet finally!

  3. If they are running splitters every half mile or so its very possible that someone is prepping for a FTTH (fiber to the home) deployment...

Hahah yeah right. Its Suddenlink. Tyler is their major data hub or something. We could be a test market, but I know it could be possible. Just they aren't doing any Fiber in the actual neighborhood subdivisions. That's the most costly part that keeps Suddenlink away.
  4. Yep. Fiber. You should see the huge spools going on here near where I work. AT&T and Google Fiber are going crazy with fiber installs.

If there is any interest I can take a picture of them rolling out these spools with big cranes.

I never saw a crew actually doing any work , saw the spool one spot going to work, after work it was a mile or so down, sat there a few days, and then disappeared. I just find it odd seeing addition fiber being deployed to an area if less than 1000 people(just outside of a 100k city). One single conduit of fiber should of been sufficient I think for our area?

How many conduit cables are normally used?

  5. Fiber 100%. Look for the orange sleeve's at every pole crossing.Termination loop's I think that's what there are called about every 1000ft.

What does a termination loop? That those oval things that have the cables spun around them in the air? I'm just confused because I haven't seen the fiber connect to anything in our area, and if it was just this one 2 mile stretch not sure our benefit lol
  6. not sure but where some of my family live they have the exact same cabling right across the road and it's fiber. Don't take it to mean you're getting fiber to the home, though you never know :)

Oh no we have coax in the neighbor hoods, we are sorta rural. Fiber runs along the County toads, highways.
  7. So I was driving to work an evening this past Friday, noticed a huge spool of cabling, with it going up to our existing cable company Lines. We had Northland here, bought out by Suddenlink. Does anyone know if this spool would be fiber, coax, or what. They also added in what looks like to be a splice box, which is sitting on the ground.

Distance between two pictures was around 2-2.5 miles

  8. You are wrong.  You realize that Verizon isn't a charity, right?  Regardless of being a public or private company, it's going to still attempt to be as profitable as possible, right?

Verizon makes a ton of money because people who subscribe to verizon feel like they offer a service(s) that competitor(s) do not.

It's one of the reasons why was against the merger between Sprint/T-Mobile and why I am always baffled by posts worried about competition driving down prices and how it will not make wireless carriers profitable in the US.

We have a lot of fat to trim in the US wireless word.

Step 1) Trimming wireless subsidy out of the wireless bill

    Check

Step 2) Wait for T-Mobile and Sprint to finish building out their LTE networks

    In progress

Step 3) Watch people realize that they can save a bundle switching while still receiving solid service

**fingers crossed that people will figure this out**

Step 4) Watch AT&T/Verizon scramble to match prices

**fingers crossed that AT&T/Verizon lobbying dollars don't stop competition**

Step 5) Watch US customers profit as prices go down

People pay more for ATT and Verizon service due to the fact they offer coverage on areas sprint only roams in, or T-Mobile has edge only or no service in. And those areas will still be there. It'll take sprints expansion to be able to truly say they have coverage on a larger scale. The CCA and rural partners will help that greatly. Also a big upsell Verizon and ATT have is also a wireline, and TV service bundles. Sprint should try and work with dish with fixed wireless(however they want) and bundle with dish satellite TV. For some people it would be a huge saver. And would probably benefit sprint. But they just need to be careful with how the do plans and pricing, as well as keeping unlimited from killing their network(if they go the unlimited route). Easy thing would be to throttle, or do a day time data limit, unlimited whatever at night past a certain time.
  9. Some roaming carriers have EVDO roaming.  I dont have any up here besides US Cellular and Verizon and they are just 1xRTT.  Wasnt Alltel EVDO?

Oh yeah I forgot Alltels roaming agreement stuck after Verizon got their stuff. Even though its Verizon, I'm roaming off them, thanks to alltel.
  10. Sprint chooses to keep speeds at 1xRTT when roaming on consumer plans.  Just know that on some business accounts you get EVDO roaming.  The roaming carrier has nothing to do with it....well, i guess maybe it could be in the agreements but I would guess the roaming carriers would be happy to g3et paid for EVDO traffic.

I could be wrong but I thought I myself was on just a plain Jane regular plan and I get EVDO roaming. Never had an issue with getting just 1x roaming. Idk if my target corporate discount has anything to do with that, but even before I put it on my account it had EVDO roaming.
  11. Now Sprint should film a commercial showing Carly going around and planting them at Tmo stores. That would be awesome. She turns to the camera in her new hot yellow outfit and says "Shhhhh!" as she tiptoes in the middle of the night putting them up at Tmo stores. :)

Make a spin off of the Samsung vs apple commercial. The magentites, in a line waiting for "uncarrier move x" and you see Sprint people running around with extra money from sprints already uncarrier move :P
  12. After looking at Sprints "S" stock chart they mayl bounce and appear to be in a wave three decline on the daily. The weekly chart is showing possible support at 501. The 50 SMA is 5.05 on the weekly so lets see how this plays out. The daily chart is poised for a bounce AND IF THIS IS A 5 WAVE STRUCTURE IT CAN GO LOWER since wave three appears to be in.  Wave 4 can bounce and fall back to the last bottom of 5.36, or continue lower. Again the weekly 50 SMA is 5.05. Since the 2.10 bottom the stock went to 11.47, and has since retrace 61.8%. This s just a correction in my opinion when the bottom is in be ready to buy. You all know what the inside scoop is don't  be fooled

I am going to make a chart analysis and if anyone that would like to read and learn LMK!

The only thing I understood fro.all of that was the last two sentences haha. What does this all mean?

  13. LTE signal strength is relatively poor across most of the city, even in area's where all sites have been upgraded. GSAM reports 90% of my radio is medium or below on LTE. B26 can't come soon enough.

Well poor LTE strength can drain a battery. Poor signal strength in any phone can. It drains the battery more for a technical reason another member could explain easier. I'm guessing it is having to try and find better Signal more often, and is strained with lower Signal. Could be wrong.
  14. Money well spent; I've used their super liberal 1 year guarantee multiple times! (Most recently for my Dot View case which began to fall apart...)

Curious, is Sprint's wholesale cheaper than others'?

true I've had bad experiences with cases. This speck I have for my HTC one m8 is great so far. I actually enjoy not having to have someone pitch me an insurance plan for my electronic accessory. I do that enough at target as its my job haha

  15. I saw a site being worked on in Tulsa, brand new panels were added with similar antennas and colored wiring. I wasn't sure what was going on, (still not but this may be a clue).

Yep at least 3 if these sites in a period of 1-2 months, from nothing to monopole with equipment. I find these 3 sites be bad zones for all wireless carriers, so they could be seeing new Tennant's on these empty spaces soon enough. Hopefully Nokia and Ericsson will have some Sprint sites on these bad boys soon enough. But yeah they had some red wiring near the panels. I need to get a better camera to get closer pics. Might borrow one to see if I can make out any frequencies on the panel.
  16. In addition to changing some of the location and wifi settings, today I set network mode to 3G only and have noticed a huge increase in battery life. I'm sitting at 23 hours on battery with light use, mostly texting and voice calls, with 78% battery remaining. It feels like I fell in love with the phone all over again after having such horrid battery problems. It's just unfortunate you need to make so many changes to get the stand by time up, I feel like the average user might just give up on the nexus and say it sucks.

Curious is your LTE strength usually strong if not weak signal can drain a battery. Switching to EVDo usually means the signal is better, and can help reduce battery that way.
