  1. Haha..yeah your post is confusing since you talked about an AT&T Note 3 yesterday so I assume you are on AT&T. If so then why would triband even be an issue in the first place.

Sorry for the confusion. :) I'm a Sprint subscriber but I signed a 2-yr deal with AT&T to try out the Note 3. My plan was to try out the size to see whether it was compatible with me. I wanted to ''live'' with the phone to get the full experience as opposed to playing with a tied-down store model or briefly playing with a friend's.

I also wanted to have mom & wifey try it out b/c they both have interest (they currently own a E4GT).

The reason I went with AT&T is because I already have 5 lines total under my Sprint account & adding a sixth line would've changed my plan permanently & increase my bill. :P.

AT&T was chosen over Verizon and T-Mobile b/c my corporate discount waives the activation fee and gives a 23% discount.

In the end, I used the Note 3 for 11 days before returning at Best Buy (no restocking fee).

Now I just have to pay for the 11 days of usage. :)

Come January, mom will be gifted a black Note 3 and wifey will buy a pink Note 3, if what the Samsung rep said was correct. :D

  2. You better be praying hard and sacrificing a lamb if you expect a pink color to all of a sudden contain triband LTE support. Samsung and Sprint are done with hardware modifications to the phone. All Samsung and Sprint will do at this point is just make maintenance and upgrade software updates. There is no precedent of any smartphone ever where a later release of a new color of the phone caused a change in the internals of the device.

I knew my wording would be confusing for some. The November release date comment was only for the pink, not triband. :P

  3. I'm hoping the pink Note 3 will be triband when it's announced next month (per Samsung rep at Best Buy). Regardless, I'll be getting a black one for mom and a pink one for the wifey. :)

I returned my black AT&T Note 3 yesterday. It was cool playing with it for the first 2-3 days but I got bored with it. My S4 is just as fast and more customizable thanks to easy root and multiple Xposed modules. And easier to handle one-handed and to pocket.

  4. I got 1. It is fun, fast, great screen, and no noticeable change in call quality. Please note I am in San Diego county, California; which 800 will not be up for a bit due to interference with Mexico (another thread deals with this). I am happy to have upgraded from a N2. I noticed that I can group text and respond, which I was unable to do on the N2. Not sure if this was an option be but unselected.

I didn't have that option with the E4GT but noticed my S4 and Note 3 can.

  5. One year. If you root and Knox says warranty void, then you have no warranty.

Hopefully someone will figure out a way to achieve root without triggering that eFuse Knox trigger permanently.

I would be happy just with root so I can use the Xposed framework, Greenify, Titanium, and a few others. I don't mind TouchWiz so much b/c I just use Hololauncher. :)

  6. How is the wifi connectivity working? I've read on different forums that apparently Android 4.3 has issues with wifi connectivity in different handsets (Note 3, HTC One, N4,.....)......

I'm using the AT&T Note 3 and there has been no WiFi issues for me.

  7. Got the Note 3 today on a new AT&T account and the phone is indeed very nice. I didn't like the Note and Note 2 at all. But the Note 3, with its S2 like shape, thinness, and a much, much, much superior back texture (I got the black one), blew me away.

With the Note 2, I hated its slippery and slimy feel. And it just felt too big and cumbersome inside my hand. But not the Note 3. Samsung pulled off an ingenious design with the 3 and I can actually do one-handed operations just fine, of course with extra help from Pie Control, Swipepad, and Samsung's own one-handed mode.

For the next 2 weeks, I'm gonna try it out and will make my decision whether to get the Note 3 on Sprint or wait for the S4.

  8. I haven't heard or seen anything yet, except at the Samsung announcement day.

    Grgh, pink is so elusive.

I've never been a fan of the Note series but the Note 3 has definitely gotten my interest this time around.

My plan is to go to a corporate AT&T store and see if I like it. If I do, I'm gonna get the Note 3 from them and try it out for a couple weeks before returning.

If I can adjust to its size & I love it, I'll get one through Sprint later on. :) The reason why I'm doing this roundabout is b/c the AT&T price is lower & I qualify for no activation fee through corporate discount.

  9. I don't think it's shady at all. It's not like Samsung is overclocking the parts. Samsung is just showcasing the full potential of the SOC inside.

And there is no point of going full throttle when not benchmarking to save heat, battery, and increase component longevity.

  10. Feeling pretty good & content right now. I finally get LTE at both the home and work areas and the speeds are great! 20Mbps at work and 17Mbps in the home area.

I hope Sprint keeps building its network faster and maintain it well. I was thinking about ditching Sprint at the end of my first contract with Sprint in May of '14 but I guess I won't anymore. :D

So glad I found S4Gru - not only did I learn a lot about networking but I feel more informed and less frustrated about Sprint's timeline and progress thanks to the Sponsor info. :D

  11. Although it was never my intention to purchase a Note 3 (I'm gonna switch to S5 from my S4), I was looking forward to recommending it to my mom and wifey.

Now, I won't. They don't buy phones off contract like I do. So when I recommend a phone to them, I'd want their $350 phone to be as future-proof as possible, when it comes to power, battery life, and network connectivity flexibility. They both have the S2, with its crappy battery life and horrible GPS.

Just as many has stated already, the Note 3 is very disappointing b/c its contemporaries will be triband (GS4 Mini, LG G2, Mega) while the Note 3 will not be, despite the Note being a flagship device.

We are fortunate to live in Orange County, CA where the LTE situation is better than most across the nation. Today, I enjoyed LTE at work with speeds of 20Mbps down & 8Mbps up outside. Indoors at work, I got 10Mbps & 6Mbps up. But I won't be satisfied by just that. I want LTE from other bands as well because my reception isn't as good elsewhere and indoor LTE has been almost nonexistent.

During my trip to Silicon Valley during the summer, I picked up 800Mhz voice and it was awesome. I can only imagine how awesome LTE would be if I had 800Mhz too.

I don't know who dropped the ball, Sprint or Samsung, but the news that the Note 3 isn't triband has been very disappointing.

  12. I'm currently in Sunnyville on vacation and SignalCheckPro showed this.

The voice part means that I'm picking up 800MHz, right?

What do my screenshots say about my 4G LTE connection?

And man, the LTE situation here is much better than back at home in Orange County. Unlike in the OC, I get and maintain LTE even inside malls, shops, and buildings.

  13. I enjoyed WiMax while I had my S2 here in Orange County. I miss its speeds - up to 18Mbps at times and 6Mbps upload. Average was about 8Mbps down and 5Mbps up.

If Sprint doesn't improve the LTE situation by May of 2014, which is when my first contract with Sprint ends, Ipol probably ditch them and probably try Verizon. But a major problem with Verizon is their friggin locked bootloaders. :(
