  1. Just got back from modesto and wow, what horrid service. Some of my wife's family lives up there and we go visit every year. I've watched it just deteriorate to basically un-usable. Service was spotty up until south end of the grapevine. So glade to be back in service areas with LTE. Maybe I'm spoiled but there is definitely a reason to be appreciative with what we do have. It could be worse LOL.

  2. Ugh, LTE is flawless in my area for a day, then gone for a week. Then it comes back for a day, then the next day I get very spotty service, then I wait a week again for 4G. This is getting annoying. It's very clear it works because when it's on I haven't had a disconnect and my speeds are incredible. Does anyone know why they don't just leave them on? What better way to test them than real world usage?

Gear is being installed, re-positioned, and just not entirely ready for prime time yet. But its coming.

  3. EVO 3D user here.  After months with no 4G in sight, the weirdest thing happened two weeks ago; I’ve been receiving 4G WiMax feeds around Garden Grove and Santa Ana.  Especially around the Chapman / Brookhurst intersection point with Speedtest calling out 8Mbps and topping out at 12 Mbps.  If I’m getting these speeds with WiMax, I wonder how well a LTE phone will perform.

Thats pretty good for wimax. Think I had 7 or 8mbps as my highest back with the og evo. LTE phones have seen as high as 30mbps here in OC. You can check out sensorly.com to see where Wimax 4G is broadcasting. I know I havent had much luck with LTE at Chapman and Brookhurst but up at Katella its decent. Except this weekend where my family and I have been voice roaming. Weird that this would be happening since the towers in that area have been up and running for a month or so. Guess they had an issue recently.

  4. Had the same issues around the same time you did. Wasn't able to connect to 4G in Garden Grove, right in front of the tower. Near Brea on my way home, neither by my house where thes a tower with LTE for a few weeks now. It came back on while I was at the gym around 5pm.. probable a 4G network outage

Would you be having the same issue now? Lol. Just a couple of hours ago LTE popped off again. Now I'm stuck on this 3G junk. Really needed speed so I could get all apps re updated since I just did s off finally. And updated my rom.

  5. Evo 3D (WiMax 4G) owner here.  Just to add,I haven't been getting 4G speeds for nearly 2 months.  And to add another, there has been a series of drop calls.  At this rate I'm going with Verizon or At&t.

Most of us don't use Sprints wimax service anymore. We're on LTE. So come join the party. Get a new phone ;)

Is anyone having trouble connecting to 4G ? I havent been able to connect in OC at all today.

Yesterday from around 2-5 I too was plagued with no LTE. Tower at Lakeview and 91. I could only get 3G to show up. I was still showing 3G even after I got home when usually its the opposite. Finally around 5ish is when everything started working again. Weird?

  6. If you guys want to test it, drive around the site once you are connected. I first noticed it when I was testing the relationship between LTE speeds and distance from the site. The site I tested it one was the Fullerton Airport site. The flight tower has three panels mounted on the north, south, and west sides.

Well the site I had posted about I was on the south side of it. This towers gear was up in place before the one at Ralphs on Chapman and Euclid which is now producing LTE lol. Ill try and map it tonight when I go pick up the little one. If I can remember.

  7. Wondering if anyone here has been experiences any lte issues as I have. Im lucky enough to have lte at home and at work. But at times when I'm connected with good strength I get no loading at all. Like for example; I try to go to google.com. 4G symbol is on top but there is no upload/download activity. If I turn off 4G radio and pin it on 3G I get data up and down with no issue and pages load just fine. I reconnect 4G try same thing and my connection just hangs. Its an on again off again thing which is just weird to me since it more works than hangs. Any insight to why this is happening? Or is it just merely Sprint doing testing and of course still building out the network?

So set the threshold in this small update to the iphone app to be above the highest seen here. And as I stated earlier, set Android results to "knock out" iphone results if there is a newer slower speed.

And you don't have to use it. This is just a way to get iphone users the ability to contribute.

For one, I'll need to confirm this but I'm sure a speed tests by Sensorly and the newly updated Speedtest app read tests differently. In fact, I nearly 100% guarantee it just for the fact that prior to the new Speedtest app update, speed recordings were just fine. Now the whole contributing thing for mapping data, thats what you should be inquiring on. Maybe Mr. Sensorly can answer why iPhones arent able to map. Personally I never asked since I've never needed to know. But changing the whole structure of sensorly just to do if ands or buts on data strength is not really a thing to take up. IMHO

  9. Here is the speed I am getting:

For some reason it did not do well on the download- no idea. It's incredibly fast.

My bro in law has same issue. Its your iPhone. Sitting in same room playing black ops and doing speeds tests yielded weird results. I'm pulling 12mbps on my EVO and hes showing 3.2mbps max on his iPhone 5, yet web page downloads were super quick compared to what the app was suggesting. So we figured its just the new app update that you all just received.
