  1. Got it, thanks for the info. Question about mapping during my commute, should I leave the WIFI on? I see that Sensorly adds points or something like that for WIFI, 2G-3G and 4G LTE when mapping. I’m not sure if the phone picks up WIFI that will override or take precedence over 3G or 4G LTE readings?

if you want to map wifi, thats up to you. that option just allows you to map where free wifi is at. we are just curious where to find the 4G's. basically just open app, select map trip, start, and commute. stop it when you park. simple. even a cave man can do it

  2. I'll be at Angel Stadium this Thursday. I want to map out more of the area around the 5 freeway and Ball Road. There are a couple of purple blips on the Sensorly map that I want to verify. I heard 4g is not available in that area even though the Sensorly map shows otherwise.

i believe there is a tower over there signed off with lte. i was just in that area doing a drop off at amtrak and the 3g wasnt all to bad. didnt do a test. totally forgot.

  3. LTE in Garden Grove is sooo slow. I had to turn off the LTE because the 3G was faster.

say what?!?! i consistently pull 11-17mbps down. highest so far is 17.8mbps down 5.58 up latency of 36. Thats from the tower at euclid and 22. in fact, this morning in my drive way i ran a test just cause 4g is much loved, i pulled 17.09 down 5.52 up. sorry I lied, heres test on the on ramp:

  4. Very long. I was actually getting gas when I turned on LTE for the hell of it. LTE first came on for around 10 seconds, then came back for 10 minutes and then kicked me back to 3G. :td:

sweet!!! wonder if that signal is still coming from the 22/euclid tower...i keep forgetting to see how far it goes since i have my phone connected to the appradio 2 and just set sensorly to mapping when i leave the house.

  5. Does anybody know where I can get a constant and stable 4g lte signal close to Westminster city. I have a suspect that my evo 4g lte has a problem to connected to LTE like many of evo owners?

The jelly bean update with sprints bloat app "connection optimizer" really did help the EVO switch radios better. The 4G airplane mode toggle used to be the only way to get phone to switch over. It still seems to be needed at times even after the update but a lot less frequently. First, I'd say do update if you havent already. Second, I'd do the airplane mode on/off sequence before claiming issues. And third, no there isnt really any area just yet with a consistent LTE signal. Though here off of Lakeview and the 91 a couple weeks ago the signal was on for a full week and some days. Its been off for a while now. If you want to play with LTE just do a little drive up to LA. A lot of signal coming from there.

  6. Is that the one disguised on the fake building structure South of Jamboree on the East side of the freeway? The one West of the 5 and North of 133 in the field is a T-Mobile site. Assuming you are talking about the one in the field of trees.

Sorry just checked this sites tower locations versus what I saw. The tower at Tustin Ranch Rd and the 5 was the tower being worked on. Big blue cherry picker. The tower in the bushes is definitely not sprint. Though it has a couple large containers adjacent to it now.

  7. I was going to map along Orangethorpe and Lakeview on my drive home, but there was no lte to be found by 6:30. I drive by there daily during my commute, I'll map it and report back.

nice. i think we double teamed on sensorly for that area today lol. ill do more mapping tomorrow. im so stoked!!! first tower to show upgrades was near old office by ball and state college. now first tower to broadcast LTE is by new office. HAPPY DANCE!!!!
